I think Tracy was being way too kind to Patrick. Skipped his other Grand Prix event, unofficially dumped yet another coach. How hard did he really train for this event?

I think he's just done with skating. It happens, he's been around for a long time, and he was quite supreme in it for quite a while, and a lot of things combined there for him. He has to sort out his head and I think she was pretty much on the money when she said the thing about being comfortable. But I am not sure that's doable.

One thing that's for sure is that it's odd listening to him talk about needing more comps when he had the chance and skipped it but then if he's finding it difficult to skate, it wouldn't have done him good anyway. He's far from a favorite of mine, and he has his issues, but he is not in a pretty situation as I am sure the Fed is also slightly leaning on him due to the Team.

Also, yes, let me repeat, please for the love of everything, get rid of that depressing music.

Sad that Patrick couldn't be clean on his SP:tumblr_inline_ncmiffG34Z1rpglid: I hope this will give him kuyashii, instead of more doubts and depressing thoughts:13877886: pull yourself together for the FS, PChiddy, please!

And don't make zuzu sad :hachimaki: don't you dare!:tumblr_inline_mzx90enaUF1r8msi5:

Young Stephen did quite well! now go and make senpai proud in the free:tumblr_inline_ncmifaymmi1rpglid:

I feel that Yuzu's ability to turn kuyashii into a driving force to perform better is a very unique strength of his. Had Patrick won Sochi OGM, he wouldn't be thinking how his win wasn't decisive. Or how much more he can improve.

Patrick has been in this sports for so long but you could tell how defeated he looked after bombing skate canada fs. I think he never really got over the fact that he's been an underdog after being the top for a couple of years.

He's downgraded his layout with the purpose of going clean. But if it doesn't happen at all, it'll be an awful way to end his career.

His fs music is depressing too. :13877886: At this point, it's probably too late to change isn't it?

He could go back and do Blackbird, I guess (which did nothing for me either),  but the Olympics are sooo close... I have never really invested much emotionally in Patrick, but you cannot deny what he brought to the sport with those amazing edges which I hope he decides to teach in the future.. and he was an inspiration or motivation for Yuzu to improve his skills, for which I will always be thankful. My support now is mainly because I would love to see a gold for Team Canada... but I see that slipping away with the sudden rise of Kolyada's pcs....

It is probably hard to regain motivation after you realize you are not as supported at the top anymore (must be dreadful to see certain young guys get pcs close to you with what they put out there), only then to bomb at SC as well. I am thankful he has said he has the motivation for PC, so I hope he can do better in this long program and then trains really well in the next month. Finish strong, right?

It's late, yes but I don't know. When was the last time Patrick actually risked something? He's been sort of playing it safe, counting on his skating skills and expression and maybe, since this is it, it's time to just go sod this, and go for it. Blackbird is a program that has good associations for him; Helsinki was top notch and he knows it by heart. It shouldn't be too difficult to recover, as he's always had just the 4T there as well.

It's probably not going to happen, as I don't think it's in his character, and I do think he's still clinging to some version of his old self with his I am the last ... (which is I think partially what Tracy means - it's not comfortable to face reality, but it is what it is) but it'd be nice to see him skate a clean-ish two programs before the curtains close.

The schedule for the Canadian Nationals seems to be... really interesting. First two flights of women first, then FD, then the third flight of women. Then the same pie with men and pairs...

It is intended for television broadcasting reasons. Doing it this way means the televised broadcast can show the final flights live... which is where the interest is. ..and it doesn't take up an entire afternoon where they might show NHL hockey or curling or some other thing.

I just watched the SP of Patrick and Stephen Gogolev. Gods I love Gogolev, can't wait for him to hit juniors and save us from badly done flat donut spins (guess having Yuzu and Jun as reference helps?), and the way he transitioned from the donut to the pancake/mushroom spin was really interesting. The lutz and the step out on the axel was a pity, but that 4S was amazing. He had so much height and distance on the jumps he did, and maybe my eyesight is poor, but I think his 4S was bigger than some senior guys, so he's not relying on just rotation speed. Can you imagine what he is capable of once his muscles start to fill out? Knock on wood and pray for his health, but Canada you have a talent here.

As for Patrick-why do I suspect he chose the music himself? I feel like they sped up the music just a tad bit, but otherwise, I think this music flows in a way that fits his style. If he didn't have issues with his jumps, the program might be appreciated a bit more-kind of like H&L, it has to be clean to sing.

OK, now here - just watching dancers. One flight online, and then... where do we go?

Youtube guy streamed everything yesterday, he just pauses for a bit to switch channels.

Lovely, thank you, nothing else works for me, alas...

Great idea! This is what I would love if I were attending a skating event. The chance to see all the top groups in all the disciplines in one sitting. The US should look into doing this.

But I feel sorry for skaters themselves - people like Alaine, who has to wait forever to see the others' results.
