To me, Higuchi has a smidgeon of that thing Hanyu has in her skating and in how she expresses herself through her programs though I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly. And I'm hoping very hard, almost as hard as I'm hoping for Hanyu to skate both his programs, or at least SEIMEI, clean at the Olys, that she'll make the Oly team and present her skates, epecially her FS, well in front of the world.

I'll refrain from sharing my thoughts about Uno and his performance style + his skating (the ones I've never shared before) since you're obviously a fan and I don't want you to feel poorly about it. I mean I don't dislike the dude at all, and whatever he's good at he excels in and I can fully respect his determination to strive towards his goal of beating Hanyu.

But of all the younger competitors in the top 6 men, I find myself actually rooting for Chen the most. I mean not in beating Hanyu because it'd be a contradicting wish, and there's absolutely nothing I want more than for Hanyu to eat everyone for breakfast in PC--the events are happening early enough for them to all look like Fruit Loops or bacon to him, or whatever he usually eats for breakfast--but I do hope that Chen places the highest out of all of the younger 3 men. This started gradually happening when I heard his SP music at US Classic and became cemented after I saw his showing of it at the JO gala sans his quads where he could actually truly *skate* and did complete justice to that awesome, *awesome* piece of music. Pity it probably won't be the same with the quads but I'm hoping he'll at least be able to keep some of those lovely details SL weaved into the choreography (which he executed beautifully) in.

its cool, I can get why some might not be into his thing of staring into the middle distance. He was quite limited expression atm which hopefully he will work on in the next oly cycle seeing as how he wants to skate for a long time (and, you know, work on the jump technique). the only think i can't abide is zeroing in on his faults and totally ignoring his strengths which is unfortunately really common when it comes to shoma...esp coming from yuzuru fans which makes me really sad...

While I am a Shoma fan I do find myself thinking this season I kinda hope other's kind of prevail over him. purely because his program choices are so dull i want to cry and I would like for him to have an intensive to try to bust out of the little comfort zone he's got himself in. I'm really on board with Boyang's heartfelt efforts to address his weaknesses so I root for him quite a bit. I see his effort and I enjoy it.

obv i don't want anyone to beat Hanyu :P not anywhere that really matters anyway. I'm not that keen on Nathan but I'm warming up to him since there's a bit more in the way of TR and choreography going on in this season's programs and he's a lot more connected to the music and skating with some character which is nice to see but i'm still kinda meh because I found, once the wow factor of an assload of quads lost its shine, his programs last season were super disengaging. I'm hoping he manages to hold onto some balance when the quads all get added in to the fs but we'll see. Out of the squad my preference is probably Shoma-> Boyang-> Chen but this year, just based on programs, I'm probably Boyang_>Chen->Shoma. :(

being real i'm going to be happy and sad whoever gets on to the olympic team for ladies. It would be wonderful for Wakaba if she made it but I'd be really happy if Mai made it too. And, of course, I want Satoko to be healthy and on form so she can earn her spot....
