I know, Polina had absolutely no chance against Zhenya today. I think Medvedeva got higher points than what she deserved today, but no one could have beaten her anyway.

I think Polina was underscored in PCS and should have won the silver medal.

Definitely should have gotten that silver, and it bugs me to no end.

It also raises some interesting questions about Caro and the Olympics but I cannot. Too early for those headaches.

Also seeing Zhenya sad and upset made me depressed because I really do not think I can take any more injuries throwing out skaters so I'm going to let Sui/Han heal me now.

She might actually be the equivalent of Yuzu in the ladies field on the jumps. I haven't paid that much attention to her, unfortunately, so I'm not aware if she has any weaker jumps. But gosh, those jumps, she nearly hit the boards on those toe jumps, the vault is amazing. I also wish for better choreography for her--she's probably more my cup of tea, in that she skates and flows with the music rather than go for drama character pieces. I think her posture is fine, and paying attention to how she holds her limbs, she would be so striking on ice. Her presence on ice is already quite good!

Can't get over this 3Lz...delayed rotation too, very Yuzu-like (s-sob..... #toosoon)

Some more transitions in her choreo would be good (it's Eteri though...) but I like a lot of her lines and extensions

She was my favorite in Juniors. Her programs were SO good. You can easily find them on YouTube. She was faster and had complicated transitions. But her legs were painful from the very beginning.

Damn, has the 3F started giving Zhenya trouble? Is she also of the 'kill injuries by jumping them into submission' school of thought, like Yuzu? She fell on the 3F3T in practice at CoR. :/ Of course she immediately landed about a hundred of them in quick succession after that...

Also, I'm so happy for Mirai after this one. Yes, it was not clean, she had carrots, but she didn't collapse after the 3A like before. This is a good start for her! To think that a female skater, who didn't train for 3A previously, only started training that jump in seriousness past the ripe old skating age of 22, I hope for her determination alone, she is vindicated and lands that sucker at US nationals and upsets the apple cart!

I think, we have no hope to know if Zenya is in pain. They will simply hide this information. And yes @WinForPooh, lady flip seems to dislike Zenya too.

I get a feeling she is, she certainly seems just as stubborn........ zhenya, do not follow that boy's example on this

(off topic but Uncle Simon is back on B ESP and he's already soothing me because he's offering insightful commentary)

Are you tempting me to write a reverse harem for Zhenya and her jumps? o_O Hmm, or maybe given her age, we'll just have a house of cats, yes, that would be better and cuter and fit with her Luna plushies.

I have a very soft spot for the 3A, gents and ladies. I love it when the ladies attempt them, and I do little hopping 'yay's when I see landed 3As from the ladies. I really really hope young Rika Kihira manages to keep her 3A technique, and I so badly want Wakababy to land it, too, in competition. So what Mirai has been doing is pretty damn astounding and I hope she does well at the US nationals.

Actually, they only called the 3A.

Negl, I laughed and laughed in glee. Get that spot Mirai girl, get it. I think what many of us have been saying, seems to be working. Landing the 3A seems to release that pressure and she's not as tight as she used to be on the rest of the jumps. I'll take a potential 3A ding if she can skate the rest in this way, and her confidence must be boosted now.

Yes, the little one is quite little despite all her success, so a bunch of cats and birds and puppies for her.

I don't think she can go too far at the Olympics with that techniqual content, but we'll see, there has always been some interesting judging at the Games.

Watching Sui/Han is like medicine, hope it will help

That 3Lz should have gotten higher GOE as well. Beautiful.

TR should be better, yes, I hope that it will come with time as well.

Here are some scenarios:

SCENARIO 1   SCENARIO 2   SCENARIO 3   SCENARIO 3
Evgenia Medvedeva (1+1) 30 Evgenia Medvedeva (1+1) 30 Evgenia Medvedeva (1+1) 30 Evgenia Medvedeva (1+1) 30
Alina Zagitova (1+1) 30 Kaetlyn Osmond (1+1) 30 Alina Zagitova (1+1) 30 Alina Zagitova (1+1) 30
Kaetlyn Osmond (1+2) 28 Alina Zagitova (1+2) 28 Kaetlyn Osmond (1+3) 26 Kaetlyn Osmond (1+3) 26
Polina Tsurskaya (1+3) 26 Ashley Wagner (1+3) 26 Polina Tsurskaya (1+3) 26 Ashley Wagner (1+3) 26
Carolina Kostner (2+2) 26 Carolina Kostner (2+2) 26 Maria Sotskova (2+2) 26 Maria Sotskova (2+2) 26
Wakaba Higuchi (2+3) 24* Wakaba Higuchi (2+3) 24** Carolina Kostner (2+2) 26 Carolina Kostner (2+2) 26
Maria Sotskova (2+3) 24 Polina Tsurskaya (2+3) 24** Wakaba Higuchi (2+3) 24 Wakaba Higuchi (2+3) 24
Ashley Wagner (2+3) 24 Maria Sotskova (2+3) 24 Ashley Wagner (2+3) 24 Polina Tsurskaya (2+3) 24

*Wins tie breaker for total score

** Total score tie-break. Unknown who'd win total score here until Skate America. If Polina scores higher, she's in over Wakaba.

Scenarios 2, 3 and 4 seem more unlikely but this has been a stupid season so far so who knows. Mai can also run interference in France and Satoko at SkA.

Note: Doesn't matter who wins in France between Osmond or Zagitova, as long as they place 1+2.

I like cats' idea but Zenya also can have court ladies to serve her, not harem.
