[2017] JGP (10.11-14) Egna - Stream & Discussion

Alena got a UR on her 3Lo and a unclear edge on the 3F.

Also, the 3A really helps that BV for Rika. She didn't lose levels in the step sequence, but got negative GOE on it.

Matteo and Vlad, the two spoilers for poor Tomoki.

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea what you mean by that

And PCS differences between two girls in the same competition are quite clear. They're both Juniors. And Kostornaya was robbed.

well, I'm not trying to justify what the judges did here - but Alena's score was kept low. But I'm more interested about the technical mark... underrotated loop and ! on a flip.. what? She has problems with her Lutz, not flip...

Overall taking both SP and FS Alena had to win... I'm sure that she will get higher scores if she skates clean at JGPF. Fingers crossed :free-random-smileys-960:

I missed them, so just caught up now. Such a pity for Rika random falls, and I must say I like Samodurova's FS the most. Nana was obviously very nervous, and Young You was more impressive the first time around. Still have a soft spot for her, can't wait to watch her in JWC.

I must say, @Yatagarasu I am not if Kostornaya was robbed. She won the PCS.  0.04 difference is close, but as some as said before, Yuzu won by 0.03 before. So, it happens. I am not sure how fast the mental math judges/tech panel can do, but making that small of a difference to make someone won over the other is rather hard.

I really hope you are right! Sofia is a lovely girl too who earned another medal and a trip to the final very, very deservedly - but come on judges, giving her the win over Alyona?

The difference between them in quality is so huge. Sofia performs well and is a charming skater, but her programs are relatively empty, she telegraphs her jumps and is slow. Alyona looks at least twice as fast (if not more so) despite having a very packed program. Her skating quality is just unreal.

The protocols make me want to bring out my pitchforks again too. What are those flip edge calls for Alyona & Sofia? Both had trouble with their lutzes, but their flips were fine. How can such incompetent people make it into a tech panel? Can we start an online petition for Shin Amano to be everywhere, always?

On a positive note, I'm so happy Rika has made the JGPF. That is quite a field there and I can't wait to see. It's waaaaay too long to wait! *stomps foot like 12-year old*

I tend to agree with @yuzupon: the problem is Alena's layout. She's a wonderful skater - beautiful spins, wonderful speed, but the second half is jumps, jumps, jumps, and if these are not immaculate, the program gets a little less impressive.

I know why they do this - but in this case, Alena's fatigue had to affect the way she skated. She had a major competition last week.

She deserved a higher score yesterday, I tend to think - and her score was kept low. The danger of skating among the first.

For me she's a winner notwithstanding.

I didn't see any fatigue in Alyonas skating... again, Alyona at the end of her LP was still at least twice as fast as Sofia ever was.

Not to forget that the complete ignorance of the TP hurt Alyona in comparison too. She didn't get the ! she should have, but Sofia didn't get the e she should have - and that hurts way more.

I don't get the logic? So what if she nominally won the PCS? She had to be way higher in PCS than Samodurova, they are no where close in those scores. It should have been a land-slide for Kostornaya. She was underscored in both the SP and the FS.
