[2017] CS Finlandia Trophy (6-8.10)

The word awkwardness can't even begin to describe my feeling about the middle part of Jin's LP:knc_brian3:what's was in your mind Lori?

Just catching up! Congrats to Boyang! :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:

Looking at the protocols does my head in... URs for Boyang but not Vincent. Did we have the same tech panel for the SP and FS because Vincen'ts URs were (rightly) called in the SP. :14066882:

This is on tomorrow's list to catch up watch - glad Boyang won - depressed that there are more technically doubtful wunderkind popping up.  Maybe a perk for tech panels should be an eye test followed by the dispensing of expensive tasteful glasses.

I just watched Jin's short program. Interesting choice of music. The first song was from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon which was a Taiwan production with a Taiwanese director, cast from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China, performed by famous Taiwanese celloist Yo Yo Ma, and was the Academy winner of Best Foreign Film for Taiwan. I don't even think it was allowed to be shown in China. Wonder who introduced this piece of music to him.

I like the drama of the music, and I can see Jin's been really working on his skating skills. I like his step sequence and the full use of his body and legs. He doesn't look quite like a colt on ungainly legs on ice any more. I do miss his Spider-Man program though. He does physical comedy so well that this dramatic piece isn't really connecting to me.

I'm really glad to see Adam recovered from his injury and back. Love his layback spin. I love his SP music and hope to see it in person at the Olympics. Unfortunately, the US Men field is packed and with Chen guaranteed, and USAFS pushing Vincent, I see the 3rd spot going to Jason (deservedly so).

edit: I actually like what I see of Vincent's programs. He needs development, but I like his skating skills and performance. I don't feel like he's just hitting a check-list of jumps.

OKay just saw Boyang's LP. That music cut is total crap. How is he supposed to improve his Interpretation and performance scores if the music is disjointed, the themes don't relate etc. Too  many different musical cuts. The funny part is he shined the most during the night club music portion, but it's the part that's the most disjointed from the rest of his program. And his outfit, I guess from the color scheme that he's an Imperial storm trouper? Oh honey, you're much better suited as a rebel. Aim higher Jin! Overall, disappointed at this program.

also, is it me or is boyang taller and wider (across the shoulders) than before?

and i wonder what's going on with him because he's screwing up way more than normal on his jumps and jumps are his specialty, so what's going there...?

Idk abt taller but wider he is, we saw those pics and clips with him working hard at the gym ... and abt jumps, I believe that it is just early in the season, adjusting to a new program, he didn't start his last season too great either.... he will be fine !

No, he's emulating a Jedi, or more or less Luke. The top's pattern and way of wrapping is very Jedi-like.
