No, he's emulating a Jedi, or more or less Luke. The top's pattern and way of wrapping is very Jedi-like.

The color is off though. Obi-wan and Yoda all wore sand color wrap long tunics. Anakin wore Black. I don't remember what Quagon and Samuel L Jackson wore but it wasn't white and black. Let me just say I got storm trooper not Jedi from it.

Crouching tiger is actually decent - not as fun as spidey but more mature and appropriate for olympics

the music is decent and has more range for artistic performance - the beginning is slow but with an emotional/artistic feel, and then the music changes to a more exciting rhythm with good percussion, etc.  problem is that boyang is still too stiff in this beginning part and then when the music changes, he doesn't have enough "oomf" in his movements.  i feel like he's struggling to keep up with the fast beats of the music and he's not finishing his movements properly (so they don't look sharp enough).

if performed well, this choreography + music is actually better than spidey because it's actually more elegant and mature.  the difficulty is also higher.

spidey has the advantage of being fun and the music is "loud" enough - the enthusiasm can mask some of boyang's shortcomings

but crouching tiger has quieter (but more artistic) music, so if boyang doesn't perform at his best, his shortcomings are laid out for all to see.

me when watching this LP:

seriously, what the fuck

the music arrangement is complete shit and the choreo is even worse.  there is a total disconnect between the movements and the music.  i watched the LP with music and then re-watched with the music muted and it didn't make a goddamn difference.  this is even worse and more awkward than la strada!  whoever planned this LP/did the music must be spies or saboteurs because there's no way a skater ranked 5th in the world should be skating something like this for olympics.

Agreed completely on the SP.  It's early in the season so he hasn't mastered yet enough to fully commit to the piece. I think it can be quite lovely when he's emotionally connected to it. He wants to bring out a more artistic side and I think this piece can get him there.

About the LP, Lori Nichols choreographed this? This whole thing was crap. It's a huge step back. I don't even think even as he gets used to it and start performing it fully it will ever be a complete or enjoyable piece. Major sabotage to whoever cut the music.
