ralucutzagy Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I wonder how changed Shoma's 'Turandot' will be from the 2015/2016 season original, considering how different his layout is nowadays. Will there be any big changes in the choreography or only small ones to account for the quads, I wonder. I understand why they're not reusing this season's FS, though, since he already skated it to all its potential. I'm sad Satoko isn't going to keep her Planets FS. I think because of her missing the later half of the season she could have kept it, but I think she's getting completely new programs for next season. She's not? What a shame! Did she said something?

As long as she works with Tom Dickson I am sure the new program will be exquisite as always.

I thought I'd read it somewhere but now I'm backtracking through the sources I usually go through for Satoko and I can't find it anywhere anymore, so maybe it was just speculation I came across somewhere. Nevermind me, I do hope she keeps it because it was such an amazing program.

She did say she was going to get new programs in the summer but iirc japanese nouns don't have plural forms so it's anyone's guess whether she actually meant two new programs or just one . I'm still holding out hope, the music cuts were perfect.

guitarist Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Ugh, can't say I'm excited for more Turandot. I love opera, but it's like doing Rach's 2nd piano concerto... I didn't know Concierto de Aranjuez counted as a warhorse, I just knew Patrick used it at some point. Too bad, I love it, it's one of the few guitar concertos around.

beki Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Loco was super effective, but the wailing woman grated on me by the end of the season. I shouldn't criticize, because at least it was original! That deserves applause.
yuzuangel Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I actually was scared to say this bc of all the criticism of Shoma's jumps (which I agree with) but I really liked his LP a lot at Worlds.
