The important thing was the 4T. And, to a lesser extent, the final 3Lz, as he had several problems with the final triple lutz that season, both in the free skate and in the short program. After winning Skate Canada 2019 and 4CC 2020 he had talked about the fact that there were some competitions that he hadn't won, some things that he had to complete. He's doing it now too, he's rewriting positive memories over negative ones from the past. He did it with Rondo at GIFT, he did it with Phantom now. And he did it with Notte stellata two and half weeks ago, and with Requiem on his channel. There is no one like him.

True, he didn't skate the first minute of the program, with 4S, 4T and 3F, but in shows it's quite rare to see an entire free skate. And none of the other skaters came close to the quality of what he did. As a fan who lived through season 2014-15 today was a special moment. Watching the stream I just said "Finally you did it" and there might have been some tears afterward...
March 30, 20233 yr I'm a happy camper. The group number Yuzu starts on his knees, in the all black... win for me. Always wanted him in plain, unruffled black... it's a thank you to SOI from me just for that... and I've always loved that music. OK. That's all. P.s. SOI used to be fabulous. I watched back in the early 90s, the glory years of skating popularity and ice shows. It was the gold star of ice shows. Group numbers like the Rolling Stones and Shootout at the OK Corral were brilliant and they rehearsed for weeks in Lake Placid. I haven't seen collaborations between skaters in shows like that for years. Scott Hamilton, Kurt, Kristi, G/G, Paul Wylie... everyone shared equal billing and it was such a great show. It went downhill in the late 90s after new skaters joined the cast... but the early 90s were amazing. It's so different now, although there have been some good group numbers over the years, like Trusty and True, the year before Yuzu returned to it. Just so you know.
March 30, 20233 yr His Phantom of the Opera performance was really the best performance of the show. I have to say that none of the others left a similar impression like him. Unfortunately, after Prologue and Gift, the level of ice shows have been raised to a level where normal ice shows no longer provide the spark to keep watching. Maybe I am doomed for any ice shows without major Yuzuru content. 😭

March 30, 20233 yr Yuzu was great, as were Satoko and Kaori, there are some really entertaining skaters who I like watching too (Jason, Mai, Kazuki etc) but I think the organizers didn't do a good enough job of pulling in ensembles or other things to liven up the show as a whole, kind of made me miss FAOI with it's over the top outfits and fun ensemble skaters filling in the group numbers and intervals. It's not the fault of the participating skaters, most of them came straight from Worlds and definitely didn't have time to practice together, it was the structure of the show that felt kind of disorganized so I'm hoping it'll find better footing in the next few shows.
