The costumes are really good or we have gotten used to FaOI costumes that they seem to look good. Either way, Yuzu looks very very very good in them

For the rest, isn't it great to see the different faces or facets of Yuzu? See him skate without rules, pressure, or expectations beyond fun. Fun for Yuzu, fun for the Fanyus. Of course everyone has their preferences, but in my case, despite the absence of TV images, I'm enjoying it a lot! 

 

As for the costumes... I love the black one for the opening, but the other two... Too white for me lol I'll have to see them in the context of the performance before deciding if I like them or not. Although I liked the explanation of the possible meaning of Raison's costume.

 

Aaaaah, Shizuoka is sooooo far...

I can't recall anyone hating on TenChi except Y*gs, but the opinion of a terrible creature like him doesn't count, so that's that.

Also, if he continues competing, surely the programs will differ majorly from FaOI. Afterall, FaOI is an ice show and now he's putting on a show.

I agree! Yuzu's ability to deliver fantastic performances of such a great diversity and range of programs is one of the things that make him stand out by far. This shows what a multi-faceted, complex person he is. It's also proof that Yuzu has the curiosity, courage, and desire to try out new things and experience different sides of himself.

 

He never stays in his comfort zone and sticks to old recipes that have proven to work, but constantly discovers and explores new and different ways to express himself. This is risky and the results are unpredictable, but it's one of the hallmarks of the greatest and most creative artists and performers.

I love every minute of FaOI, exactly because of how Yuzuru is experimenting, seeking for new ways of expression, revealing and sharing his emotions, his learning curve, how he has been evolving even from one show to another. 

 

I am also sure he's aware of the audience reaction, our reaction, it's about communication, a conversation, he's been reacting, processing, playing with the viewers on spot and with us, international fans. Some call it "fan service", I would say - an exchange, a powerful dialogue, we can offer support, cheers and love, and he would keep on surprising us.

I asked some of my Fanyu friends and they weren’t fans of Ten-chi and Rondo though tbf, they associated it with what happened in Beijing. I hope they give it another chance and that it’s not the last we see of it. Rondo especially is the very pinnacle of what a short program is, only overshadowed by that stupid hole. 

Personally, I'm consistently impressed by Yuzu's ability to explore new styles of programmes and deliver beautiful performances

 

Years ago there were complaints about recycling programmes. My opinion this was shallow commentary. Yuzu was refining programmes, and so called repeats of music only occurred really due to the longevity of Yuzu's senior career. Other skaters don't repeat, because most OGM retire after their win. Only Yuzu and Plush stayed beyond 1 or 2 seasons following OGM. @Henni147 posted a clear table with this info

About programmes, Max actually brings attention to the fact that some skaters might have new music and costume, but the programme is essentially the same, it's an illusion. He even suggested that overlaying the skating with different music, there's virtually no difference to the viewed skate

 

Yuzu as a skater - I think that it was mentioned that the only missing element from Yuzu's performances was manifestation of eroticism or overtly displayed sexuality. Well, from the descriptions in this chat and twitter, it would seem that there has been a significant evolution from pure ethereal beauty to that of a mature equally beautiful but slightly roguish character portrayal. Hardly unexpected but pretty much unexplored by Yuzu previously. Anyway, much rejoicing for it would appear that Yuzu is now ready to deliver every representation or facet of human nature in his performances. Be prepared for spectator combustion and above all enjoy the show

Fun fact:

The last Olympic cycle (ACI 2018 - FaOI 2022) Yuzu has attended 15 competitions and 8 ice shows* in total (3.7 comps and 2 shows per season in average), showing:

- 4 different short programs (3 new)

- 3 different free skate programs (2 new)

- 7 different EX gala programs

- 9 different ice show programs (5 new incl. Blinding Lights)

 

* counting FaOI tour A and B separately, SOI, DOI and the 24H specials

 

 

Even if he brings Rondo and TenChi back next season, no one can complain. Who would throw away two masterpieces like these, where so much time, work and effort went into the creation process (doing even a special arrangement with a renowned pianist), when only having skated them once (Rondo) or trice (TenChi) in international competition without a clean skate (apart from Nationals). Yuzu is free to do whatever he likes, and I'd be happy to see new programs, but it would be such a waste of potential and great material.

I want to see rondo again…..
