Kozuka says there is no need for Yuzuru to push himself to participate in Japanese nationals, and it is important for the people around him to adjust the environment for him to go to the Olympics and win there. He says he personally thinks there is an option for JSF to announce informally Yuzuru as a representative for the Olympics before JN, but it won't happen based on the rule. Kozuka also thinks there is an option for Yuzuru to participate in 4CC to focus on individual event instead of skating in the team event of Olympics while Japan may want him to compete in the team event.

I have to say I was very surprised at his comments in a very good way. I guess he had to be brave to say all these, especially the bolded part because he is not just a figure skating fan like us. I'm very thankful to him.  I also want to mention that I've read two articles published this morning and they talked about Yuzuru's injury, but the contents were only speculations by the experts who had not seen Yuzuru at all.

I'm really glad everyone is so supportive of Yuzu, especially in his current circumstances.

Everyone is thinking about what might be best for him moving forward, and are being understanding of the whole situation.

Official practices for all disciplines start on the 20th.

So yes, for participants based abroad they will probably start flying in on the weekend.

This is going to sound weird, but when Boyang did that it made me think of him wearing a skirt and it going swooshing up around his legs when Yuzu zipped behind him

Ironically, that besti squat video was used by some of Yuzu's antis as proof he was a hypocrite for being angry about Denis getting in his way at practice. It does look a bit close to me, but camera angles can hide the actual distance between the athletes and Boyang was not moving so I think you can make distinctions about the situation

Did they? Well all I can say is at least Yuzu had the sense to get out of Patrick's way in that video.

Not sure why they were focusing on Boyang, who was just standing there.

let's just call it cherrypicking hating and leave it there, the haters' favourite tactics (from the 1-2 disturbingly active Twitter accounts I stumbled upon) appear to be drawing false equivalencies and selectively ignoring context so eh

I'm just laughing about people complaining about Yuzu being selected to Olympic team. Like yeah, sure, the point of Olympic team selection is totally NOT to choose the people most likely to win medals and increase the country's stock in that particular discipline, the true way of choosing Olympic team is by finding out who are on the podium for a total of one competition. It's not like there are specific rules to account for exactly the kind of situation where the top athlete in a discipline is unable to compete in that one true competition because of injury.

Them crying that "it's being unfair" is actually the one being unfair to Yuzu because c'mon the guy DESERVES it more than anybody else (not discrediting other skaters with this statement). He spent 4 years to build up his skills and experiences for his dream to set foot in PyeongChang and for only a participation to a single competition to decide that would be so unfair for him. And the 3rd spot is perfectly for him with his GPF and Worlds gold medal last season + world record FS.

 

Can we just meh with this issue...

I actually call this the Yuzu-Boyang-Patrick sandwich  There's another angle of this (I think Aaron's?) and, yeah, I think it was more of Yuzu trying to get out of Patrick's way.
