    Because we have radio silence (unless Javi tattles again... please do Javi! ) I've rechecked my Senior competitions thread to make sure that the links are still up (even though I don't think anyone's checking that thread ). The JSF nationals results have moved and some videos are no longer working so I'm slowly updating the links. Anyway, I thought I'd write out my favourite Yuzu performance for each season (regardless of the scoring). Feel free to write your own. I'm only checking/updating the 2010-11 season today so here are my faves for that season: SP: White Legend - There wasn't one single performance that stood out to me but I loved his performance at Nationals. The camera angles for his 3A and 3Lz were so good... /as well as that slo-mo of his 3Lip /. His StSq was less frantic than his GP performances as well. FS: Zigeunerweisen - Not my favourite FS program but this was his first senior year. I'm torn between choosing NHK (mushroom's first 4T in competition and he nailed it!) or 4CC but I decided to go for 4CC for shallow reasons.... his cute reaction at the end of the program (and winning his first of many /3/ 4CC silver ) BONUS: Tracy's commentary of his 4T at 4CC "Oh! Was that a quad? It looked liked a triple... just kidding it was a quad." Ex: Vertigo - NONE because I get secondhand embarrassment over this Ex. Seriously, I think Nanami sensei's husband was trolling the kid when he suggested the hip rolling for the choreo... ammunition to tease him with when he grows older.

    It's actually frustrating that ISU would spend their time having FS videos removed from youtube rather than focus their time/money on research. I mean for every other sport we've got statistics on athletes but not in figure skating? This is a way to emphasize how hard this sport really is because unfortunately, it's still being looked down upon as something that is not a legitimate sport or even a more 'girly/gay' sport because or the performance/artistic aspect (however, gymnastics doesn't seem to have this problem). Conspiracy theorist side of me thinks they won't do it because if they do research and statistics on techniques they would have to acknowledge PR, UR, etc... and judges won't have any excuses to score technical content properly...

    Soooo... I haven't predicted a correct men's gold winner since the start of the prediction games (except for Nathan & Chiddy for Nats but that was a pretty obvious choice). I decided to change it up and had Javi for silver hoping with my curse he'd win gold and yay!!! (I think I cursed Misha though because I put him for gold ).

    I'd bet on it It's in his perfectionist nature (also having a father that's a school principal). IIRC he was a straight A student in middleschool/highschool (but even then his worst subject was English )

    Thank goodness the stars aligned and conditions were perfect to choose TCC.. (Yuzu probably already decided on TCC even before it was offered as an option ).... This didn't turn out to be the case in his first year there .

    This article prompted my to watch nonchan's sub of Data Man again. They analysed Yuzu's 4T in his Sochi SP. They did some of the data gathering at Chukyo University and one of the people they consulted with is a certain Professor Yuasa who I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) wrote that article. What actually possessed him to publish incorrect data? Anyway, about the Data Man itself... they talk about his GOE and how his 4T got 2.86. T. Honda said it was the first time he saw a near perfect GOE (and now we don't just get PCS but GOE candies as well). So Yuzu's 4T: from the moment he jumps to the landing, covers 3.72 m; has a flight duration of 0.7 seconds (they showed his rotational speed using a drill ). The average time of one revolution of his 4T is 0.215sec. His horizontal speed is 4.29m/sec while his vertical speed is 2.62m. Finally, they talk about him being basically built for jumps . Or as Carol Lane once said 'he's actually almost the perfectly designed figure skating machine'.

    I see that other side of JPN media that likes to talk badly about Yuzu has emerged (I forgot about them). There was a Russian article about jump analysis of the top men (mostly focusing on height and rotation though because this was Mishin's method... would love to have an analysis with distance as well..). And if you check the article, while Yuzu's jumps aren't always on top, he is on average within the top 10... /I won't comment on Shoma just read the article/ https://www.sports.ru/tribuna/blogs/ternovblogfk/1442944.html
