  1. Well, I took me a tad more than a year of constant gushing, so it can happen to your relatives at any point
  2. Good grief, I have created a monster ! a few pages back I was telling that my Mom now called me at random to talk about him and that she woke up in the middle of the night to watch him skate... and now she is a fulled fledged fan ! She is talking animatedly to everybody about scoring problems and artistry and transitions, she can rant and rant about how Yuzuru is so above everybody else that it is ridiculous, she asked me for the link of every competition he was in and watching with different commentaries. Then she quotes her favorite to send them to me xD When she is bored or wake up randomly at 3 a.m, she is looking up competitions and videos about scoring or jumps technique. Right now I was giving her a link of the whole Olympic men fs and she answered « thanks, you the abominable daughter who converted me to the incomparable Yuzu ». I wouldn’t even be surprised if she started lurking here at some point she he also asked me when was his next competition, and I think she want to come with me, wherever it is, to see him
  3. Hey guys, this is but I would like to know where I can rewatch all The Olympic performances ? Not juste Yuzu’s ?
  4. It took me almost a year of constant gushing and the OG for my family to finally become fan. Now my Mom and aunt call me at random to talk about him
  5. I have been talking about figure skating to my Mom for more than one year, and she has always thought it was pretty from afar but nothing else. But since she knew how important it was for me, she followed the Olympics with me, woke up at 5 am to watch Yuzuru even though we are in very different part of the country, she and I. And since then, we have been talking non stop about figure skating, and she’s suddenly sooo passionate ! She looked up the performance of others she woke up too late to watch and compared all of them to Yuzuru, saying he has a unique presence, he is the ultimate performer, and she was crying in the end. I have never seen her like that. And right when I am typing that, I received a text from her telling me that her guilty pleasure was watching old programs from him and Helsinki fs and concluded : This guy is the absolute Rock Star of Figure Skating. He really has a power to draw people to him. -edited to correct typo & grammar issues-
  6. I have a soft spot for Parisienne Walkways... But I think it is because I love Paris just a tad too much
  7. I am so turning this into a smilie Please do :rofl2: OMG so much judgment in one photo :rofl2: the more you look at it the better it get. Pooh is the only one who doesn't seem to be concerned
  8. Wow, finaly caught up with the thread. I am soooo happy about FaoI :yay: I trust him to take care of himself sine his health seems to be really important for him now, and I can't wait the viewing :pbow: :pbow: Also, wow 100 in barely a week, and this is just the main thread !
  9. Where does that gif come from ? I can see NHK but which year ? If anyone know, thanks :space: NHK 2015 :space: From min. 06:35: Thank you ! :D Also, Wow, the toxic edit was perfect !
  10. I had the weirdest dream today where there was a curse on the whole planet and the only cure was to solve a giant sudoku on the ice (like, each case of a classic sudoku was another sudoku) and instead of numbers, there were jumps name, and to resolve it one had to carve the letters with skates then jump it. And since there was a 4A, everybody just turned to Yuzu with Princess Leïa face in Star Wars and "Yuzuru Hanyu... You are our only hope" And Yuzuru was "Okay, I will do it, that's mine to resolve" :hachimaki: And the rules to resolve it were so complicated that everybody else just gave up and only our neird Yuzu was still stuying it. But then he said there was something very important he needed to do before trying... And that was to hug someone. Then it was pretty much chaos because everybody wanted to give him the hug :rofl2: What followed is church classified But in the end he managed to save the world by solving the giant sudoku and doing 4A after 4A
  11. I think I remember him saying that he wanted to try other thing and that he was interested in other sports beside figure skating. (And we can come back to Yuzu doin Kyudo, that would be pleasing to the eye) And I love that french saying, it can aswer a lot of ridiculous hypothesis
  13. Where does that gif come from ? I can see NHK but which year ? If anyone know, thanks :space:
  14. We have that saying in French that comes from a poem "avec des "Si", on mettrait Paris en bouteille which translates by With "if" Paris could be put in a bottle And it shows how ridiculous people can get when letting their supposition go wild
  16. You never know. The boy never cease to surprise, he will bring the polka with the 4 axel for good measure
  17. Awww.... your friend's statement reminds me of that japanese talk show panel where they were discussing everything about yuzu and Kenji Miyamoto had this to say about his gpf 2015 Chopin performance "This season, it does not look like he moves his arms to the music but the music is produced by his arm movements. It is done like that." You can read the whole translation here: https://yuzusorbet.tumblr.com/post/139053231562/ Thank you, I had not read that yet, it is always a pleasure to read people comments about him. The part about the hearphones and kandama in the end cracked me up he is so strange and cute. This one made me laugh too Mits: I guess there are different ways of “appealing” to the judges. At the Olympics he had the cute, innocent look, and here he glared at the judges with “give me my GOEs!” (laughter) Maybe he should do that at the Olympic next season and just glare at the judges with his scary assassin face 'till they give him his
  20. I also have a problem with left and right, and for that I usually look if the take-off leg is the same as the landing one or not. So that in the split seconde of the preparation of the jump I am not "is it right ? left ?" but just know if it the same as the landing one. That way, even for skater who turn clockwise I am not confused. (I still have difficulty with Lutz and Flip though, but with all these explenation given, I feel I won't have so much trouble from now on)
  21. Thank you for sharing! Well I loved the fact that my friend couldn't even pronouce his name and yet could pinpoint the genius of yuzuru and his artistry through barely a few minutes of the video. That's how special our space kitty is
  22. Oh, don't be sad. Many ppl discovered Yuzu through YOI. Good thing that you find him. What others say is not that important! :console: True, just look at the numbers on the poll, I would bet a good part of the '2016/17 season" are people who discovered him through YOI, and I feel the YOI bashing from some FS fan is not mean spirited but (maybe?) frustration of seeing a fiction depict somehting they like without the accuracy they would want. As long as fiction is seperated from reality and no amalgam are done (like this Yuzu is Yuuri thing) FS fans won't have a problem with people coming from the YOI wave
  23. This is completly off topic, but a few days ago I was showing some of Yuzuru's programs to a friend (who knows nothing about figure skating but was interested anyway) and one of the first I made him watch was the Boston Requiem, and at one point during a spin he said to me (without daring to let his eyes leave the screen) "Wow... It looks like the music is coming out of him" And he asked me to show him more And his words rang so true that I felt compelled to share
  24. Wow, so many interesting stories here, I didn't think I would be interested but before I knew what I was doing I had read the whole thread. Mine is pretty bland, I was brought by YOI and even though the Victor/Yuuri relationship was cute I felt much more invested in the competition in itself, and when I like or discover thing, I am a little... Intense, so in January I began bing-watching competitions, starting with the singles, and later on pairs and ice dance. I cannot for the life of me remember what exactly was the first Yuzu competition I saw since my watching was heckting and not in chronological order but I think it was GPF. I first saw Javier, and even though I knew next to nothing about figure skating, I thought "Oh, I like this, this is musical and dynamique. It is good" and right after, I saw Yuzu and just forgot about Javier and went "Wow ! I still know next to nothing about FS but this is strong an beautiful and I absolutly love it !" But I wasn't a fan yet, then, as I caught-up with every big competition aired I realized that when I watched men I was always looking forward for Yuzuru's skating, and that through each competition I was a bit more invested in him, feeling depressed when he did not do well and smiling with him in the K&C... Then I began searching on how to recognize jump and steps, and technical requierement and layout programs, and I fully realized after that Yuzuru wasn't just skating beautifuly, he was also so strong and precise and his technical habilities were no jokes. I was very close to being a fan, but not there yet, even though all my friends and family knew Yuzuru's name by then. The coup de grâce was when youtube recommended me on of those 'cute Yuzu moments' video and it was so adorable I began looking for interviews and any Yuzu-related stuff... I was pretty much done by then. With no hope of escape from him. It was barely a month since I began watching FS and it was close to 4CC and as I was looking for a stream or information, I discovered GS and seeing that there was so many people crazy for him made me feel a bit better. My family don't watch FS at all and they have an... adamant position on what masculinity should be, and having my brother scream "they are all gays" when he see me watching FS or having my mother cringe with a "Well, he is a bit feminine" and the rest of my friends who cannot stand the word "Yuzu" (they have very low tolerance, it has barely been a few month and I am in no way ready to stop following him) anymore, I was delighted with community around him !
