I don't think Yuzu could lift her though...? And ooops, a year late, but still cute ^^
-
That is true, and she seems to like blue
-
Next time, she shoudl bring a fitting costume!
-
You are now sentenced to a dozen watches of Riverdance! And isn't it even more amazing to know Yuzu is doing it for the art & feel of it, not the points? Yes, health issues again already... which is why I'm so sad. He deserves to be healthy fro at least one season, one season for a change! He gave us this gem after all. One of my fave spins next to Yuzus sit spins (especially the LGC one!), Deniss' sit spin and Jasons, ehhh.... half Biellmann?

Deniss I'm disappointed though - Jason? Yata, where is that half of your brain? Point overall stands though, spins are rather a "nobody cares, just do it somehow" thing, and spin GOE overall are the ones I understand the least. It's a shame, honestly, as I don't think the audience agrees. In Helsinki people went wild for some of Jasons, Deniss' & Yuzus spins. To a lesser extent, I also like Mikas. And of course, there are guys like MCM. (Josh, come baaaaaaaaaack!*insert begging smily here*)

Haha, yes, and it was always soooo slooow in R&J1, because that seemed to be the point where he was running out of gas and hadn't yet refueled by warrior scream and yes, the hand variations are amazing. It's especially standing out because his hands are super elegant and lovely in general, and he just moves them during spins in the same natural way he does throughout the whole program, making them look even more embedded into the whole program. (I hope that makes sense!) Awww thank you! I'll try to comment more again from now on

There is a reason A spins are viewed as the worst of the worst! Honestly, Yuzu still has one of the better ones though. Comes with generally being a great spinner (when he doesn't plan his YOLO'ing in between, of course). To be honest, sometimes I think his spins are a bit underrated by now.

Not sure how this is related to what I wrote - of course all of them are in it for themselves. Repeating programs or not is not a compareable issue at all though. It's allowed according to the rules, so if people like it or not, they can't argue for it affecting scores/placements/results (though of course everyone is allowed to voice criticism, disappointment and so on). But a lutz edge is supposed to be an outside edge, that's according to the rules, not peoples preferecnes. And it does matter to some of them. Yuzu has worked on stuff/taken risks that wouldn't give him points (last years music choices for example). Nathan could continue to rack in high PCS despite little choreo, yet the snippets of his new SP suggest he's working a lot on "rightly" improving his PCS. And people are free to laud these skaters for that just as much as they are to criticize another skater for taking shortcuts. PS: thank you SSS, you're sweet

Well, I think if I can see something in real time sitting in 10th row at a comp, then I can expect the tech panel to see the same. That applies for example to Shomas 3lz at WC being a flutz or his 4Fs being pre-rotated by more than half a revolution. Honestly, go and look up what defines those jumps. There are clear rules for what differentiates a lutz from a flip from a loop from a salchow from an axel. And when a jump like Shomas 4Lz in that video is not even categorizeable anymore (honestly, I wouldn't have known what it is if not for the long outside edge set-up), we're reaching really big technical flaw category here. (And the last part of your argument doesn't even hold water IMO when you realize tech panels are scrutinizing some skaters like this - but that's a whole different matter). You take your opportunities - even if you do that while exploiting an unfair advantage? I guess that holds water if you look at results and in the end, many people won't care. But I think it's perfectly fair for others do not agree with that and criticize such a decision and strategy. It does make me feel for someone like Jason Brown, who struggled to get his quads for so long (and still does). I wonder if he couldn't have just decided to turn on that toe pick a little longer and woohoo, there it is. Big medal contender as well. I don't know much about Higuchi, but to be frank, with Yamada... I guess it's a mixture of all 3. And I agree about Kanako, I really loved her skating and her jumps were always big and powerful... she wouldn't have needed to leave Japan, but at least switch to a coach who would have maybe helped her keeping her technical issues to a minimum might have helped. It's super sad how she just kind of fell of the map and then r****d so quietly.

Not really sure how to say this nicely, but... Shoma has a really incompetent team when it comes to jumps. Between Yamadas students, the only worhtwhile discussion you can have is who manages to have the worst flutz of them all (and I'm saying that as a big fan of some of them). Remember how Mao tried for years and years to finally get rid of all her bad jumping habits (like a wrong lutz edge)? Yeah, thank Yamada for that. Or look at Kanako. Outside of Midori, I don't think any of her students even had decent technique. (And before anyone feels sorry for the poor lady I'm so harsh on - remember that's the lady who threw shade like "skaters who train abroad always become rude". A+ xenophobia too). Eclair has this one completely right though - if you want to fix a bad habit, you go back to the easier jumps to get those clean first. Going for the 4Lz will make Shomas lutz edge likely worse... and I can't believe for a second that anyone in his team believes it would work. As for what else he could do - why is correcting his technique now and aiming for 2022 with correct technique not an option? Like this, he banks on the fact he can train incorrect technique for 1-2 years and then can re-learn that in less then 3. That's... not something that sounds doable to me, tbh.

Depends on the specific call. As someone who has been critical of the rotation of his 4flip since forever, I really doubt he will now get any call in that regard on his lutz equivalent. The edge is another issue. I think most of the time Shoma got !'s on his 3Lz last season, which only means GOE reduction, it doesn't even have to be negative. It really wouldn't do him much harm. If he gets a "e" however, it's 30% less of BV, and given the big BVs quads have, that is quite the point loss (13.6 to 9.5). It would also mean automatic negative GOE, although I don't think it's necessarily -3 (man, I've gotten so rusty over the off season!). So I guess a 4Lze that is otherwise fine would get him around 8 points. It's a gamble - if he gets a !, he gets a lot of points of out it, if he gets an "e", he loses quite a lot (although he still gets the same points a reeeeaaaally great 3Lz.... another part I don't like about CoP, honestly). Personally, I think the majority of his lutzes last season were clear "e"s, even if they weren't called as such. The 4Lz here is too. Even if he is trying really hard to rework his lutz edge, I don't think it is humanly possible to go from 3Lze to 4Lz in one summer (maybe at all). Yuzu is a jumping prodigy with impeccable technique, yet it took him seasons to fix his 3F, and I still think any quad attempt would be an otherwise pretty 4Lip. So I have to say I'm still confused as to what Shoma and his team are thinking. The 4S would look like a safer route too me. Edit: that's what happens when you write super slowly while kind of working at the same time. Several people beat me to it You can also watch for the lean of the upper body and the curve the blade makes on the ice - personally, I'm looking for the latter. The lutz is usually approached on a long held outside edge (Shoma does this too here, therefor making a C curve over the ice). But before he takes off, he flips over to the inside edge (his body starts to lean to the inside too), shifting his weight and therefor overall creating more of an inverted S instead of staying on his C curve. That's when you know someone didn't hold his edge right.

It's August. I would have been very surprised had she already tried it here. But she's not going to go for a 2A at the start of her LP in the big comps. Just a question of time!
-
I'm very sorry for being late on this, but: whoooooooooohoooooooo!! (That done, it's not that I generally love every Latin program. But I don't mind them either, and it could fit Waka I think, so I'm fine with it. But if it helps you, this means the LP won't be like that either, and it means at least you have less of that music to endure ) Regarding the GP assignments, I can't but agree with everyone that JSF either rolled a dice to decide, have the strategical minds of 2 weeks old puppies, or decided to go troll route. Because: no. sense. With those assignments, I wouldn't even be surprised if they get zero Japanese ladies into the final. I think they wanted to set up Satoko for it, but honestly, she could still get buried at SA and likely won't win NHK.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this and designed banners They are all amazing and even with the possibility to choose 5, it is still super difficult and took me ages! And I'm sorry to ask, but isn't one of xeyras banners missing? This one. Sorry I didn't see that before either when looking through
-
Eeehhhhh... yeah, no please. I'd rather have him r**** earlier but as healthy as possible then force himself through something like that

That's what I'm still thinking as well, and I don't expect him to change my mind about that no matter how well he might skate Chopin again. The thing is, I know nobody likes to talk about it, but Yuzu won't skate forever. This might be his last season - and even though I don't believe that, I believe it's his 2nd to last. And this last season, with LGC & H&L, 2 programs that were "out of the box", different and unique, he kind of showed that there is so much potential left. Great as he was before, great as he is now - he could do even more, he could basically do everything he wanted. He could do any genre, any style, any type of program.... instead he gives us a program we already had for 2 years (consecutively, and only from one year ago at that). And there won't be much time left to expand beyond that. It might well be that 3 out of 5 of his post OGM years will have been with the same SP... and that is disappointing to me. (It doesn't help that while Chopin is a beautiful program, it is also... kind of overrated for me. It's not his best program to me at all, and I'd already been happier had he re-used Etude or White Legend instead, which were way longer ago and only skated for one season) That doesn't mean I'd root less for him to do well, I'll watch his programs and keep my fingers crossed and get my usual anxiety attacks before every jump. But I don't see myself enjoying the programs as much or re-watching them as I'm doing now with some other programs. It does also add to me generally being team #deletetheOlympics

You have nothing to apologize for

Of course people are free to jump in and ask for the jokes to stop because they don't like it - but in a fair tone. Having an admin call this thread "ew" and therefor the posts here (which obviously came from posters here) is just not okay.

And we were just having fun with that Magazine cover. No need to get offended.
-
Yeah, I don't get the point. We have all kinds of "barely Yuzu related" stuff in here, it's a chat for a reason and apparently pages whole of breakfast talk would be fine. But having fun based on an actual magazine cover released is a problem? Why?

And boobsskirt 2.0 could match her actual skirt!

I'm still banking on that after double OG win love confession. Come on Zhenya, don't let me down!

She's Sailor Moon though, with some good old superhero (well, anime hero) powers.... gotta get her Sailor Crew together

Ehhh, well... I'm sure he could do some things to make it up to Zhenya
