  1. He’s spoiled us rotten for sure. Admittedly, I haven’t been following the sport as religiously in the past as I do now since ‘discovered’ Yuzu a couple of years ago. I remember however the random times I would watch it as a person with ‘conscious memory’, if that’s even a thing. From 14 to 17 years old, Seeing Sasha Cohen, Stephane Lambiel, etc, I liked watching them because of how artistic they were. I even liked Brian Joubert to some extent but that was me being more physically attracted towards him than because of his skating But only with Yuzu I realised what FS really means and I really can’t see myself downgrading from that anymore. Someone just as special or even more needs to show up for me to follow them like I do with Yuzu. ETA: and YES to Sui/Han. I really can’t get enough of their 2019 WC program
  2. I do wonder where the line between subjectivity and objectivity gets crossed though. My case is a funny one. When it comes to figure skating, an artistic sport that granted combines artistry and athleticism, I certainly prefer the more artistic skaters than athletic ones. Now compare it to tennis for example. That sport is purely athletic, there is nothing artistic in it but a lot of fans saw Federer’s style as ballerina-like, effortless, beautiful. While on the other hand (and my personal favourite) they saw Nadal as the brute, the muscle guy with more power than skill. Some people just prefer the athletic type regardless of the sport, and others not. I’m not sure why I quoted you specifically to say this ha! And I’m just rambling at this point, being it my 2nd birthday on my own because of COVID and having drank 1/4 of a bottle of red wine after not drinking much for the past year. Cheers.
  3. Oh f**k no. Considering that it's the ISU, I can't help but think they manipulated the results to prevent them from competing.
  4. I'm watching Max grill the judges https://www.pscp.tv/w/1YqGoyLQNkvxv It's a live stream, for those who understand Italian might want to have a look at it
  5. My immediate reaction the moment I saw that live was wondering how long it would take her to travel from Stockholm to Russia with that spin.
  6. Probably very late to the party considering the amount of pages I still have to read through but the US is already a country as a whole that wins a lot of medals during the Olympics in general, losing one in figure skating if they only boycott one discipline is not going to hurt them in that sense and I believe that figure skating is just a spec of little grain in the USs grant scheme of plans. If they go ahead with the boycott it would be for the whole Olympics, every discipline and that is something that the IOC won't want from a business point of view.
  7. I found myself doing a Yuzu pudding too after the last few posts. I really don't want to use the R word but H&E almost does feel like his goodbye after he achieves his last goal. Because of all the thought ha has put into it, it has this aura of iconicness (is that even a word?) that I believe will only be appreciated by everyone further down the line, after some time has passed. I think he will eventually do the same with a new SP. I don't believe he will stick to LMEY for much longer but will instead look for that special piece, that special thing.
  8. It was actually @Melodie who posted it, I just quoted and pouted
  9. I kinda want the Hawkeye like in tennis, or VAR in football to be implemented in figure skating. And I don't care it takes the human side out of the equation. Those judges (at least a lot of them) deserve to be out of this job and get themselves a new one.
  10. Indeed. As someone who's dealt with a mild PTSD, I can imagine very well how some people can get triggered by the slightest shake. Even a strong wind rattling something in a house could be an issue if they get triggered by noises.
  11. I don't really think it's that weird. Japan has had one small quake every other day for decades, if not every day. It's just because March is the anniversary of the 2011 one that they get more attention this year. Just look at the 2020 stats: https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/earthquakes/japan/archive/2020.html Even when I was there in 2019 I felt a very gentle one in Hiroshima and another one in Tokyo a week later. I thought the one in Tokyo was just a train underground passing beneath us (like you tend to feel in London) so I didn't worry but the cashier at the convenience store smiled at us with glee and said it was a small earthquake.
  12. I do One week into my new employment I told my boss that the knowledge database created for my role is not user friendly at all and that it should be improved. Meaning, that I will do so further down the line. Anyway, I agree that Yuzu will kick ass. I’m 1000% sure if it. He has a very special connection to TTCT (H&E) just like he has with Seimei and I think that gives him extra confidence.
  13. Athletes become accomplices when they remain silent. And those are my two cents in this. Cheers.
  14. A channel (I think) matched his lip sync once to a soundtrack from Yowamushi Pedal. He might have watched that.
  15. just get any shounen/seinen anime, you can’t go wrong there
  16. I don't know. I'm torn. Not about you streaming it, because I love every chance I get to go against the ISU, but my hypocrisy would still be very much there and my conscious would still be tainted
  17. He can step on me and I would say thank you, dammit.
  18. I don't think it will happen, but only Yuzu knows what's in his head. Who knows.
  19. Signs of Yuzu withdrawal is when you find a Pooh jar in your supermarket and immediately grab it even though you don't need it.
  20. It's a women's magazine, no? My feminist side is squirming... a lot.
  21. Yes and no. They have an anti-stalking Act but not very enforced from what I heard. Their definition of stalking is very lax, and just looking from afar is not considered as invading someone's privacy. By Japan's definition of stalking, this "magazine" (although they don't deserve to be called anything else but trash) doesn't fall into their criteria I think. However, I know that in the past they did cross the line, and their invading advances stopped. Maybe someone from Japan can confirm this. I dislike speaking about them as well, but they also need to be called out. If someone saw them near Yuzu, it has to be made known so matters can be taken into hands by whomever is responsible for these cases.
  22. It's a good article and obviously a lot of work has been put into it but it focuses mainly on the numbers instead of the whole package which is whether the scores are deserving or not. On the other hand, this might exactly be what the author was trying to do which is also good. The fact that fans can see a skater's errors but the judges somehow turn a blind eye to them is the main issue in my opinion and the lack of accountability creates tension and distrust. At the bottom of the article there is an invite to sign the petition. I've seen the list of signatures and people have been singing since September 2019. The fact that in over a year there have "only" been 10k people signing it, shows that a) the petition is not being circulated enough, b) people are not interested because they know it's fruitless or c) they just don't agree. ISU has made it clear they are turning a deaf ear to what fans say and no matter what we do, they just won't listen. The only way this can happen is if big news outlets call them out and make a scandal out of it. Not just figure skating media but the big shots such as CNN, BBC, The New York Times, etc. but this is also a pipeline dream because FS is nothing compared to the size of other sports (football, NFL, tennis, basketball, etc). Times like these I wish I had stuck to my fleeting desire when I was 18 of studying sports journalism. That way I could create hell right now and make ISU's life impossible.
