Between all the scoring mess I totally missed THIS: Yuzuru Hanyu has completed his first LV4 step sequence in a freeskate since WTT 2017!! (That was in Hope & Legacy) In fact it's been more than two years since his last one. Crazy. Okay, it's another question, whether all those LV3's were legit or not...

Right. Oh, and Eris will bring a golden apple to the next competition. For the 'fairest' judge.

I think, the ISU has summoned the fury of the Olymp now. Zeus is sharpening his thunderbolt. Poseidon is stirring up the shitstorm waves. Ares is saddling the warhorses. The Quad Axel is pulsing in Pandora's Box. Hermes can't wait to deliver the Trojan Horse to ISU headquarters. Hades and Cerberus are awaiting the judges in the underworld already. Yes, I think Origin will unleash its true mythological power next time and destroy the system.

Well, for a textbook 4S Yuzu would have received something around 14 points (he got exactly 14.00 at COR) instead of 3.88. Cancel the -1 deduction and add another 2-3 points to his PCS and you end up with a total score of 111-112. That's totally fine. EDIT: With the new rules you only get the bonus for one jump element in the SP. Yuzu already maxed out the 10% bonus with the combo in the second half (which is quite risky btw). In my opinion it doesn't make any sense to replace the 4S by a 4Lo, because the BV difference is only 0.8 points and it's much harder to get good GOE for the Loop. A Lutz might be worth a thought, but even that would give him only 1-2 points in addition (with textbook execution). If he can fix the competition blockade with the 4S, I would keep it. EDIT: As I mentioned in the fluff thread: I pray that people stop devaluating Yuzu's program with inaccurate, low scores. A program with visibly better jumps and choreo than COR cannot score lower than 110. Period. This can only happen, if people encourage the judges to do so by offering them wrong calculations. Sorry, but I'm really angry with Sponichi and all the other people, who talk about scores in the 106 and that it's not enough to beat Nathan. I would like to use all of these dudes as a punching ball right now.

I can repeat it again and again. I'm very happy about the ♻️, because: Thinking of PW 2.0, Chopin 2.0 & 3.0, Seimei 2.0 and Notte 2.0... the second and third round was really special in all 5 cases. O&O 2.0 will be breathtaking, too, for sure. I love love love Otonal and I want to love it even more. This program deserves much more credit. #JusticeForOtonal The truth is: Yuzu as one of really few skaters with a) recycled programs and b) no vocals but more classical pieces completely strikes out again. Otonal and Origin will be a very welcome change for our ears after a series of modern music pieces with terrible cuts, I tell you. #Funfact: Yuzu has set 9 world records in the SP so far. It would be really fitting to do #10 in his 10th senior season and with Otonal I'm confident that he can do it. It would be an incredible achievement.

I think it would be very helpful/comfortable to have a direct link on the main page to active competition threads like the ACI fluff now (in the header for example, where it strikes out). It's a bit tricky to find them, especially when they disappear from the latest posts. What do you think?

I read so often that Yuzu has perfected Otonal at COR... I don't know... I just cannot agree with this... Sure, it was a very strong performance and 110 is a huge score. Other skaters would kill to have a SP like that. However, according to Yuzu-standards it was not perfect. He said himself that the combo was a bit shaky and the first half of the choreo is improvable, too imo. I don't say that it must be recycled, but it feels wrong for me to say that it's been perfected already. In that sense you can say that LGC has been perfected at GPF16, too, despite the shaky 4Lo... well, no, it hasn't.

Small correction: this makes the rivalry-narrative possible at all. With fair scoring no one would bring up any rivalry discussions. It would be all about: can Yuzuru Hanyu beat his own records, clear the 350, 400 and 500 point barrier and become the first skater to do X and Y. Edit: @micaelis If Gogo skates a strong season, this will fuel the narratives for sure. IF. I'm not 100% convinced that he can live up to the stellar high expectations... his jumps come and go. He still has a long way to go to reach Nathan's level of consistency.

I've scrolled through the comments and I'm not sure, if this notorious complaint about 'made-up-rivalries' and unfair judging really helps Yuzu at this point... Olympic Channel cannot exchange the judging panels. If there's anyone who must be adressed with this issue, it's the ISU and JSF. We can like it or not - in the current system Nathan IS a rival to Yuzu and I think, Yuzu treats him as a very serious rival. We cannot expect the Channel to ignore Nathan here. To some extent the biased scoring is even good for Yuzu imo. Unlike many others he's not brandmarked as an overscored skater, who can only win with the judges' mercy. It's the opposite. He goes down in history as an honorable athlete, who earns his scores with pure quality. Nobody can take this away from him. If he beat the field AND the narratives AND the system with one big hit in the future, this would be the sweetest victory of all. USFSA and ISU can cry rivers and drown in their own misery then. All we need to do as fans is to support Yuzu, pray for his health, believe in him and wait patiently for payday.

About the layout guessing: there's one thing that we know for sure. He loves fluffy cats. Other notable facts that make me feel positive: 1. We know that he practiced 4Lz and 4F during FaOI without serious catastrophes. 2. Since FaOI we have been watered with an above-average number of photos, blurry video pixels or background music from TCC. That means, he did regular on-ice-practice without major interruptions. 3. He is now fit enough to compete at ACI. Obviously. The rest is pure speculation now:

Autumn Classic prediction game
Henni147 replied to Old Cat Lady's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
1. Medallists: 2. New program for Yuzu? 3. 4A/4Lz/4F for Yuzu? 4. Quad in the ladies event? 5. Highest raw PCS score? -
That pose! My eyes are blessed I wonder how it looked like, when he took off the fishnet top... In this photo it seems that the white rose shirt didn't cover his shoulders...

2019/2020 Season Program Announcements
Henni147 replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Is this true?! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY I couldn't wait to see Wind of Change already. That was probably the program announcement, I was looking forward to the most... -
I'm really surprised that THIS twitter post from our good old Olympic Channel does not have at least 2489023572305789 responds in the comment section yet

It's so lovely to see, how this year's Junior GP series turns into a Yuzu tribute contest Imagine the head to head race between Sasha Plushenko and Vadim Voronov in a few years... Who can do the better pistol, Y-spiral, hydroblading, IB, biellmann, glove throw...

The ISU Jump Auction - The History Plushy 2010: What's wrong with you guys?! Where are the quads?! Patrick 2010: I do two 4T's in my free and one in the short. Is that okay? Reynolds 2010: I bid two quads in the short. Mroz 2011: I can offer a 4Lz. Javi 2012: I bid three quads in the free. Reynolds 2013: Five quads in one competition. Javi 2014: I bid five quads with better GOE. Boyang 2015: I go for six quads in one competition and 4Lz in combo with positive GOE. Shoma 2016: I bid a quad Flip. Yuzu 2016: Quad Loop everyone. Nathan 2017: Five quads in a free program. Yuzu 2017: Three quads in the second half. Nathan 2018: Okay, I bid six quads in the free, folks. Patrick 2018: Sorry, I bow out, guys. ISU 2018: Things start to escalate. We have to change the rules... Yuzu 2018: 4T+3A sequence in the second half. Javi 2019: Yeah, I think it's time to say bye bye. Shoma 2019: I bid 3A+4T combo! Not in competition yet, but I go for it. Yuzu 2019: Well, then I go for the 4A and now seriously. Shoma 2019: Oh, and I work on a quint. Yuzu 2019: You know what? I'll go for all six types of quads. Think about a quint, too, if you don't stop provoking me. Sigh. TBC

I think, Yuzu would absolutely enjoy to troll the whole skating world with a once-in-a-lifetime-wtf-performance, whenever and whatever that would be. No program reveal, many misleading hints from TCC instead, maybe he would even ask the referee to mute his practice run-through for the ultimate surprise effect... and of course he would take care of exquisite choreo and skating quality, so that the judges had no choice but to give him top scores for something... they would NEVER forget I can see that sweet grin on his face already...
-
I don't think that any performance or music choice of any other skater could top Yuzu with Rasputin anyway. That would be just too hilarious. If I had to skate after him... gosh I would probably get deductions for recurring laugh attacks. I tell you: the commentators and even the judges would totally lose their sh*t There are three other songs of Rasputin troll level that would make me cry from laughing (and they are all from the 70s lol): Moscow Bicycle Race Rama Lama Ding Dong

Sorry, my last post was a bit unclear The 3A is around 1:17 in this video. It has a short twizzle exit, too, but the long twizzle I was talking about, starts a bit later at 1:29. Yuzu skates to the other end of the rink, before he enters it. I think there should be enough time and room to build the necessary momentum. The current version is decent, but I always felt that it could be more impactful and memorable, if he completely pulled through there until 1:34 (at COR the twizzle stopped around 1:32). EDIT: Gomen for the timestemp escalation In general I agree with @LadyLou that the section between the 3A and the combo needs some fine tuning. The rest of the program is gorgeous and I LOVE it. The sit spin, the step sequence and the combo spin at the end are perhaps my all-time-favorite 60 seconds of figure skating.
-
The twizzle after the 3A in Otonal. I think it can be a real program highlight, if Yuzu accelerates more with the music and holds it about two seconds longer, so that the twizzle finishes right on the note (as he did beautifully in Notte Stellata): Otonal SP (COR 2018) - Twizzle Maybe it's physically too demanding before the big quad combo, but if there's anyone in the skating world, who can do it - it's Yuzu.

This summer we had: 1. Yuzu in fishnet top dancing and flirting with Anna 2. Masquerade Yuzu in red AND black leather top plus glove throw and everything 3. Yuzu switching his oreo top to a simple T-shirt and exposing his back to the crowd 4. Veeeery tight FaOI training gear 5. Evangelion top exposing his muscular arm and shoulder 6. Boss Yuzu in suit with gelled hair advertising Citizen watches 7. Now the clavicle reveal... ... something's in the air...
-
My opinion about recycling: It's still way better to keep the music and change the choreo than changing the music and keeping the choreo.
-
I caught a cold yesterday. No tea, no medicine, no warm bed could help really. Now I'm watching 10 minutes of Yuzu posing with a chocolate dispenser, revealing his collarbones and I feel like a newborn puppy. Fever gone, energy back. Awesome.
