This is a bit OT, but I had such a good laugh I just switched on my TV, zapped through the channels and stumbled across an episode of the first Yu-Gi-Oh! season. Boy, there are so many parallels between that anime and figure skating
-
I tell you folks. Yuzu will sign contracts with Pirelli, Speedo and Jack Wolfskin, before Under Armour discovers him, too. Eventually.

Oh yes! This photo just made my day. They look so happy Question: what happened with the fingertips of Javi's right hand? Is that dark red nail polish? Lol.

My opinion: An ideal program SHOULD be one big step and choreo sequence from start to finish. The local elements should have both: a technical value and a choreographic value (1. embedding/transition quality 2. musicality and 3. narrative/dramaturgical meaning). The sheer existence of a step/choreo sequence is completely contradicting this ideal. A recognizable sequence with a start and finish requires a visible quality change in your skating and performance. It's like: "Okay, in these 15 seconds I do the choreo and the remaining 3:45 minutes are random skating around." To be honest: most of the programs give me exactly this terrible feeling... I really don't care, if Yuzu gets negative GOE for his sequences or not. He aims for that one big sequence and this is what I want to see in figure skating.

Has this been shared here already? Full transcription of Yuzu's K&C scene in Saitama after Origin. I Love it *I don't like the name Toe-Axel for the 4T+3A+seq though*

Here's a link to the public PDF version of the book. Some messages are blurred to respect the people's privacy, but there's still a lot to read and I love it

Thank you so much everyone! The letter is on the way (the lady at the post office said 3-7 days). I hope, everything goes well
-
@Yuzu_legend You can't imagine how relieved I am now I accidentally wrote 'over' instead of 'around' at the end of the letter and I felt so kuyashii... *gomen* @makebelieveup I hope you can forgive me Thank you everyone for your suggestions!! They were really great! I posted a photo of the full letter in the fanbook thread. Now it's time to go to the post office.

Here's the letter for the fanbook I found some cute Pooh letter papers with envelopes that I haven't used for ages and I thought, this is a good occasion to take them out again. For the text I used dark green ink and a calligraphy pen. I hope my handwriting is easy to read? I tried my best to introduce the project with all major aspects and ideas behind it and speak for everyone who participated. I really really love this fanbook, so again: THANK YOU SO MUCH @Veveco !!!

This. Is. So. Awesome. Can't wait for your detailed report!

Oh, now I'm curious who the other one is To be honest: her skating style is not my cup of tea either.

My wishlist for the 19/20 season: 1. May Yuzu stay healthy and injury-free. 2. Fingers crossed for a performance that he's happy and satisfied with. 3. Wish him appropriate reward for his efforts.

Trusova will use it as her FS music next season. I hope that she can do justice to this amazing piece... This weekend I made a trip back to the 70's and 80's and discovered THIS Rocky Sharpe & The Replays: Rama Lama Ding Dong Imagine Yuzu trolling us with TWO SUNGLASSES like Rocky in the video

I think the time has come to drop this:

Agree, agree and agree. Thank you for this positive and healing comment

EDIT: I decided to put this comment into spoilers, because I don't want to destroy the good mood

I really gave up on any kind of skating score calculations after Worlds and WTT 2019... [funfact: my auto correction didn't know the abbreviation "WTT" and suggested "WTF" instead lol]. Possible mindgames right now: If I skate two perfectly clean programs and the judges give me 0 GOE and 8.00 PCS everywhere (worst case scenario), I need a BV of ~53 in the SP and ~167 in the FS to win with 95% probability and a combined total of ~340 points. If they capitulate and decide to give me +5's and 10.00's, I could score ~390 with the same performance. *yeeey*

Now I'm really curious how Otonal and Origin look like without jumps at the moment...

Wonderful photo! It's so rare to have everyone in one pic: Yuzu, Zhenya, Jason, Jun, Joseph, Conrad and now Matteo, too Why do I have the feeling that Matteo doesn't want to leave the Club after those three weeks anymore...
-
I don't know how good or bad Yuzu's singing voice is, but I'm 100% sure: If he's ever forced to sing in public and doesn't feel comfortable, ToshI will beam himself into the backstage area and volunteer as his backing track

Thank you for your detailed analysis! Out of curiosity I looked up all PCS that Yuzu received for his FS since the 15/16 season (except Nationals): Event Seimei 1.0 H&L Seimei 2.0 Origin ACI 92.10 86.60 89.50 87.90 GP1 88.94 88.12 94.38 92.42 GP2 97.20 92.52 - 90.64 GPF 98.56 92.36 - - 4CC - 94.34 - - OWG - - 96.62 - WC 92.02 97.08 - 95.84 WTT - 93.56 - - Overall I would say that the judges liked Seimei the most and Origin and H&L are on similar level more or less. I'm still baffled that Olympic Seimei with a missed combo and two wonky jumps received nearly the same PCS score as the absolute flawless H&L in Helsinki (less than 0.5 points difference). Sure, the SP placements, starting order and different judging panels played a role, but still. Helsinki H&L really deserved better PCS than 97 imo.

Sometimes it's really hard for me to talk about THE fandom of an athlete or other celebrity. There are so many different types of groups, networks and people... from supportive and warmhearted to secondhand ambarrassing and rude... from a pieceful follower to a hardcore stalker you have everything in the pool. Sometimes it's even both and this the craziest thing actually: Some of the users who spread hate on SN might be the same people that left kind and encouraging messages in Yuzu's beauty blog or in the fanbook. In the 17/18 season I started to communicate about figure skating on GS, YT and Twitter and I have to say: in no other sport (and I follow pretty much everything) did I feel such a strong need to defend my favorite, start pointless discussions with antis or riot against the system. This was an absolutely crazy experience and sometimes I felt so tired that I wanted to quit... However, Yuzu's skating made me stay and the Planet is a real treasure. Here I can follow his incredible journey without any stress and share my thoughts and feelings with other nice fans. Big thank you for all the streaming parties as well!! It's like watching your favorite event at home with your family

I'm not sure what is worse: 1. The ugly and rude comments and some people acting like TCC's privacy officers. I'm 100% sure that the club can handle cases like this on their own and public bullying on Insta is the very last thing they need. 2. The fact that some people have nothing else to do than lurking 24h on other skaters' Insta accounts for crucial leaks. Whatever they hope to find, they know that it will cause everyone unnecessary trouble. Sometimes it's better not to know about anything. In this case I think that for Yuzu and the club this Origin leak is not a big deal or at least not as big as those people think.

The thing is: with the narrow rules that we currently have it's nearly impossible to construct a program that maximizes the scoring output and still leaves room for a perfectly fitting choreography. Every jump has a specific rhythm, airtime and entry pattern, so it must be very tricky to cut a music piece that fits all these criteria for three or even seven jumps. Not to mention the order of the elements, the breathing rooms and your stamina limits. In the SP you have a little bit more options to play with the composition of your program, but it's still tough as Otonal has shown. Scoringwise the COR layout was the ideal solution. In the FS you get max output, when you start with a cascade of your four biggest solo jumps followed by a spin to fill the first half, then go for the three combinations early in the second half and complete the remaining elements in whatever order. However, dramaturgically this is contraproductive, because the tension of the program is more or less gone after the 3:00 mark. Your spins and sequences must be stellar to keep the excitement high until the end and we know how many skaters can do that...

I shouldn't be surprised about anything anymore and yet... the chopsticks + noodles missed my mouth by two inches.
