  1. If they added "In our opinion multiple Russian and US skaters received highly inflated scores compared with skaters from other feds", well then I would clap. EDIT: To the quad discussion: I have some hypotheses that need to be verified: 1. A 4Lz with 0° pre-rotation, deep outside edge and clean toe assist is harder to do than a quadruple Flutzberger (4Fzb). 2. A 4Lo is harder to do than a 4Fzb, but about same level of difficulty as a 0PR+DOE 4Lz. 3. A 4F with 0° pre-rotation, slight inside edge and clean toe assist is harder to do than a quadruple Floop (4Flo), but a bit easier than a 4Lo or 0PR+DOE 4Lz. 4. A 4S is harder to do than a 4T, but easier than a 0PR+SIE 4F. 5. A quad Axel is MUCH harder to do than any of the jumps mentioned above. Double EDIT: Here's a compilation of pretty much every skater, who landed a 4Lz or a jump labeled as 4Lz already: (Yuzu's outward toe-picking and 0° PR is such a miracle... I have no clue how he does it, but it would be a gift to the skating world, if it returned to competition) Triple EDIT: This is a translation of a very interesting post on a Russian forum regarding the different 4Lz techniques:
  2. The best proof: How much better is Parisienne Walkways today compared with Sochi?! It was a record breaking program at that time, but Yuzu needed these six years to finetune his skating and performance skills, grow into the program and flirt with the audience as a mature man. He couldn't do this at the age of 19 yet. It's so crazy to watch 15 year old girls skating to programs like "Perfume" or "Big spender". They don't have the maturity to perform programs like this at all.
  3. I always knew that Yuzu is a top student in Hogwarts. He can apparate and disapparate. He is an animagus and transforms into a cat whenever he likes. He can successfully defy gravity. Now he's even practicing the bubble-head charm to have enough oxygen for a 7 quad layout
  4. It's funny. I see this drawing of Yuzu above my desk everyday, but I just realized: This is Yuzu in 2016 holding up the last gold medal that he won at the NHK Trophy so far. The thing is: when I drew this portrait two years ago, I had no idea, how meaningful and valuable this victory would be (thinking of the sad outcome of his second GP in 2017 and 2018...) Well, I looked at him, saw that happy smile in his face and got this warm and positive feeling that he will do well at this year's NHK again
  5. Yeah, I really ask myself what rules Jordan has violated with his videos that he had to take them down from every platform. I have absolutely 0 idea how these clips did any damage to the ISU. Maybe they feel ashamed that one passionate cameraman can do better videos than ISU's entire official team together... that's the only reason I can think of at the moment.
  6. I'm devastated. EDIT: I hope that Jordan can create his own platform 100% independent from the ISU, get skyrocketing clicks and likes and show everyone what passionate love for figure skating is.
  7. Gillis Grafström is the only male single skater up to date to win three gold medals (and one silver medal) at the Olympics: 🥇 Antwerpen Summer Games 1920 🥇 Chamonix Winter Games 1924 🥇 St. Moritz Winter Games 1928 🥈 Lake Placid Winter Games 1932 So the last Olympic gold hattrick happend 91 years ago. You have to note that in 1920 figure skating was part of the Summer Games, there haven't been separate Winter Games yet. In fact Yuzu could become the first ever skater to win three Winter Games in men's individual. I think that is really worth a go. This might be the most realistic chance in this century, but Yuzu has to decide for himself.
  8. So Yuzu confirmed my thoughts from last season: he really is that type of athlete, who doesn't rest on past success. For him every season is a reset. He works his way up from 0 to the top again and again with continuous results. This is character.
  9. Honestly. Snooker is not a high profile sport either. It happens every day that a match lasts 2-3 hours longer than planned and it's no problem to change the broadcast schedule spontaneously. A detailed review in figure skating wouldn't need more than 30-45 minutes additional time, but it would help a lot to make the judging more transparent and consistent.
  10. The video is still there on OIP's twitter account (with +157K views btw): https://mobile.twitter.com/OnIcePerspectvs/status/1190664148927078406 Maybe he deleted the Instagram post by mistake?
  11. Nah, Yuzu and shows won't have much to do with vacation. I'm sure, he would plan and prepare every tiny detail, spend days and hours with the organizers discussing the format, design, cast etc., practice like a monster and give 120% in every performance.
  12. Quick question: can we expect encore performances at the NHK gala this season? I remember that we had bonus programs from the winners in the past... In that case we might have to guess TWO programs... PS: I'm all in for LGC plus Origin encore. Imagine that apocalypse in the white/purple pants of sin...
  13. This one post sums up all the reasons why I love Yuzu and figure skating as a sport.
  14. Imagine that legendary Evangelion floor roll in "Change" That would be next level entertainment.
  15. Independent from other skaters you cannot really complain about overscoring in Yuzu's case. He is one among really few skaters who regularly hits 4-5 bullets with his jumps and other elements. At least. Good height and distance, difficult entry, good take-off and landing, good body position... these are all totally objective and measurable quality aspects of a jump. I don't take any person seriously, who calls Yuzu overscored without any detailed reasoning or evidence. EDIT: In the presence of some truly overscored skaters it's literally not possible to overscore Yuzu anymore.
  16. The curse reaches back even longer actually. Takahito Mura won 4CC in 2014, but wasn't even selected for Japan's Worlds team. 2013 Keven Reynolds finished 1. at 4CC (beat Yuzu there by 4 points), but only 5. at Worlds. Patrick was literally the last skater to win 4CC and Worlds the same year in 2012. That was 7 years ago... In 2015 Denis Ten won 4CC and finished 3. at Worlds, so he was the last skater to make the podium in both events at least.
  17. You can add PChiddy 2016 as well: Skater (Season) 4CC result WC result Shoma Uno (2019) 289.21 1. 270.32 4. Boyang Jin (2018) 300.95 1. 223.41 19. Nathan Chen (2017) 307.46 1. 290.72 6. Patrick Chan (2016) 290.21 1. 266.75 5. EDIT: The fact that Nathan finished only 6. in Helsinki with a total score +290 is so spooky. Definitely the highest global quality at Worlds ever. Yuzu can be really proud that he won that insane event with four skaters scoring above 300. Yuzu is breaking so many curses right now. Can't be a big deal for him to break global skating curses as well
  18. The exclamation mark was the genius theory of the Laureus Twitter account. I will never forget that one
  19. LOL. Just realized that the cannonball sit spin looks like Yuzu playing roulette on the ISU logo
  20. OMG I laughed so hard about mom's vision at breakfast today GPF Torino gala practice: Alina: Yuzu, can we jump a sbs 3F? Yuzu: Okay. Alena: Yuzu, can we jump a sbs 3A from back counter? Yuzu: Oh, yes! Sasha: Yuzu, can we jump a sbs 4T again? Yuzu: Okay, but now at first attempt Rika: Yuzu, can we jump a sbs 4S? Yuzu: Yep, just give me a short break first. Anna: Yuzu, can we jump a sbs 4Lz? Yuzu:
  21. You can find the full interview here: https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/video/detail/exclusive-hanyu-things-coming-together/
  22. I can picture him in the next victory ceremony with a recyKING crown ♻️ already @yuzuangel I can't stop laughing about those 0%, too EDIT: Yuzu might lurk here on the Planet, see this poll and think: "Okay, I'll do a completely new EX program then."
  23. Welcome to the Planet! I feel the same. I don't know many people, who are into figure skating and like to talk about Yuzu. The Planet is a great place to find soulmates and enjoy his performances together
  24. I do believe that deep in his heart Yuzu wanted to address all these issues in Saitama already, but he knew that the timing was not ideal at all. People would have come up with "Hanyu is just a bad loser and criticises the system, because he can't win otherwise anymore." The frustration, the doubts, the fears. It must have burned in him all the time and the mad ACI judging just fueled these thoughts and feelings. I'm sure, he couldn't wait to produce quick results and speak everything from his soul. This makes his performance at Skate Canada extra special and I'm very happy for him PS: I'm still worried about the judging in the next competitions. Especially US Nationals seems to be a crucial turning point, where everything escalates... well, let's wait and see...
