  1. Speaking of awards, anyone know any prominent sports awards (international) that we can vote Yuzu for besides USSA? USSA seems to be the only international sports institution that nominates him consecutively. What else might there be? I love it when foreign media pays attention to Yuzu's achievements!
  2. Yes, that's why I was saying he won't ever win idF or Skate Canada. Unless Nathan takes a year off skating to study
  3. If Yuzu's goal was to break records, he would want to add in a idF and Skate America Gold too, just so he can become the male skater who won all Grand Prix events
  4. Now that Patrick Chan isn't competing, and now that judges at Skate Canada mark Yuzu fairly, I think Skate Canada will be a regular GP for Yuzu because it is close to TCC
  5. Hey guys. Last time we got a "Spirit of the Athletes" documentary was 2 years ago. Do you know when they announce their next documentaries and on what site? I'm trying to keep a track of where they announce their documentary previews for athletes.
  6. Hi guys. Any chances of Yuzu doing 4CC this season? He broke the Canadian Silver curse, so he might want to break the 4CC Silver curse too ?
  7. Hi guys! Remember how Yuzu won both the USSA Athlete of the Month & USSA Athlete of the Year last year? Well, it won't hurt to nominate and vote for him this month too! I'm hoping he gets nominated every season (once every year) He deserves it! https://form.jotform.com/50424672618961 Please click the link above and just nominate Yuzu for USSA Athlete of the Month for October and a brief reason why. (On what he achieved on October: Skate Canada Gold + Personal Best + records etc) It only took me like 40 seconds to nominate him! The process is quick! The more nominations he gets, the higher the chance he will get nominated for next month. I know it's not a big award, but it's good to vote and nominate him for something in the US Sports arena. Hope little things like this bring more spotlight to him outside Japan. Please spread the word!
  8. That's a shame they didn't cover him so much after sochi! He had such good programs before PC olympics!
  9. I love how Olympic Channel never fails to give us extra Yuzu content. I'm kinda new to Yuzu fandom, but from what year did they start following Yuzu so much? What year did they start covering him so much???
  10. Finally ISU is starting to listen to us fans! Hope they upload all Yuzu's comps now and hope it brings more people access to the sport!
  11. I was also thinking about how for athletes, taking on a commercial endorsement from a big sportswear brand like Nike, Puma, Adidas, Under Armor may be more about "status" than money. It's the biggest promotion for athletes to the general public outside of their usual fan base. I never knew some athletes until I walked into Adidas or Nike or Puma stores and saw their posters and their name underneath them, and sometimes casually ended up googling them later to find out they are athletes who are spokesperson for the brand (even if it was short term, it leaves a lasting impression). And from what I saw, Nike's global official instagram account also posts Evgenia Medvedeva's videos on their instagram (even though I thought Zhenya only modeled exclusively for Nike Russia, not Nike global). So, even becoming a model for Nike just in Russia brings huge spotlight and access to casual international viewers who might just be fans of Nike Sportswear (who weren't previously interested in figure skating). But putting aside all these points, I think there may be another reason Yuzu refused sportswear commercials. And it has to do with Mizuno (Japanese Sportswear that Yuzu wears to comps). I don't know if the big brands like Nike approached him, and we will never know, but maybe he is already representing Mizuno with his national jumper, and maybe Mizuno made contracts with Team Japan for none of them to represent other sportswear brands? I don't know if other country athletes do this, but in soccer, it sometimes happens. Nike sometimes makes a team uniform for a country, and the soccer player in that team mostly ends up modelling for Nike outside their national team wear. So maybe Mizuno might have put a stop on Yuzu from getting commercial deals from Under Armor or Nike. Who knows? But this is just a guess.
  12. Omg I didn't know Nike didn't sponsor an athlete with no social media account? But then again most athletes do have social media account nowadays so I see what you are saying... I was expecting him to get commercial deals without opening social media. Although Sekkisei did kinda make him write very generic blog posts here and there, Yuzu never got social media from there endorsement.
  13. Meanwhile I'm thinking how he is going to get even more sponsorship and commercial model contracts if he does well this season AGAIN. Like this guy is a miracle in that he is still improving after his "golden years". The hype around him will only get bigger now as ISU and SBS are loose on youtube copyrights now. More people have access to his videos now that ISU is uploading his free and sp on their channel for all countries. I wonder how many seasons it will take for a big sports brand like Under Armor or Nike or Adidas to finally grab him and offer an international ambassador model contract for their sports brand. I once read that for an athlete, becoming the global ambassador for a sports wear brand is the biggest achievement you can make modelling wise, as they offer great amounts of cash and fame (like how Cristiano Ronaldo was the global ambassador for Nike). Becoming a global model for a brand like Nike, would give the athlete more spot light, and raise his fame in the general public for people who aren't fans of the sport. I'm sometimes confused how Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva got deals with Puma and Nike, but Yuzu hasn't. Yuzu has the looks, the height, the charisma, the youth, he has the whole package + phenomenal career to be a model for Under Armor even if it is just for Asia. Like, shouldn't Yuzu be the one getting more sportswear modelling deals more than anyone else in FS? I know some people said it's because he wants to wear anything he wants, but I find it hard to believe. A global big brand sportswear brand modeling contract is not something an athlete can casually refuse for "freedom to wear whatever". The money and fame that comes with that kind of contract (with say Nike) is most likely astronomically higher than other brands.
  14. Yuzuru probably watches the whole junior and senior grand prix circuit by now. I bet he knows all the top skaters off by heart (both boys and girls). I love how he mentioned Kostornaia because she is the closest to him in terms of skating skills, artistry, musicality, expressiveness, charisma and beauty on ice. They both have star quality. I also loved how he mentioned Valieva Because she is a major fan of him (go on her instagram and you will see lol). I'm glad he is looking forward to seeing them in real life lol. I'm looking forward to cute gala pics during GPF
  15. Amazing! I have been on a hiatus, and just came back for Skate Canada! He never disappoints! He never fails to amaze me! Congrats on your 1st Skate Canada Gold Yuzu! Hope you can get the rest of GP Gold medals from CoC, SA, idF too now! (Before he retires, hopefully).
  16. Not surprised he is thinking about competing until Beijing! He was quiet about for some time, but now we have 3 seasons left so it was about time he revealed little more info. Whether he competes or not is probably more up to his health than his motivation. As long as he is fired up to master all quads, I would say his motivation will be strong as ever. What I am worried about is his health, and whether his ankles can hold such pressure. As for the new costumes, I love his previous season costumes better, because I think they fit the image of the song more. I'm looking forward to a new Gala song at the very least for this season.
  17. I wonder if they will do a celebrity X Yuzu crossover event like Lotte did for Lotte Ghana Event, with Yuzu and 3 actresses meeting and talking. I've always liked watching him interact with famous celebrities. Now that Yuzu is the model for Kose, any chance of crossover commercials or promotion events do you think?
  18. Hiya everyone long time no see. Looking foward to Yuzuru X Oda and hopefully Rika Group Interview during Faoi! Rika is bigger in Japan so I would assume they would want a group interview with her and Yuzu as they are the biggest stars in Japan right now! Hopefully it would be like the Marin X Oda X Akiko X Yuzu Interview earlier on
  19. I just thought maybe he is prolonging his ice shows because he needs more time to heal before them Since DOI is the latest ice show he could get into, I thought maybe... just maybe we can see him in them.. Too bad it's less than 5% chance
  20. So if we don't have Faoi this year, how about maybe DOI? Any chance of that? They don't tour that much right?
  21. Is it possible to announce he is in like 3 days before the shows start? Why are they prolonging the announcement?
  22. I think he might just do Faoi Sendai and rest.. That would be nice. And if he doesn't jump.
  23. Do you guys think that Yuzu doing P&G Talk show this summer means he will do Faoi too?
  24. I wonder if Yuzu is ever going to go to grad school after he retires? I know he wants to coach later on, but I think he might end up going to school during his late 20s and early 30s, because he has never had a normal school life, just attending school and socializing with his class mates... I'm looking foward to what he does after he retires, but I have a feeling he isn't going to go straight to coaching right away. I hope he takes time off to himself, to try all sorts of things and then maybe slowly go into coaching.
  25. OMG 8 years for a Bachelor's degree? Unheard of... Well I guess it will make him super smart in the process, studying 1 major for 8 years... It sounds like a phD course.. omg
