I think he might need to work on 4A in harnesses for a while before he can attempt adding an extra rotation without harness, to be safe. Also, if he is planning in adding Nessie this season, I expect the big final reveal would be at GPF or Worlds. He is probably conditioning his body to peak around early December, to win his 5th GPF Gold!

I'm beginning to think a legit Fanyu runs the olympic channel. Seriously. And they obviously want Yuzu to compete until 2022. It's good for publicity...
-
That's sad. I think if a female skater got a compliment from Yuzu himself, it would encourage and motivate them. Being praised by the GOAT himself is very special. I just wanted to know what sort of ladies skater style he prefers. What does he find important in singles skating in general? More of the artistic skaters, or athletic skaters etc. Which female skater is he inspired by, and what type of music choices or choreography does he like? I wanted to know these things, because it is always interesting how female skaters take inspiration from yuzu, like his jumps or his programs. So far, Alena Zagitova, Gabby, Zhenya, and so many other female skaters spoke openly how they like Yuzu's jumps, total package etc etc in press conferences. So sad that Japanese Media hinder that sort of skater praise cycle.
-
But simply talking about how "I admire ladies skater X, Y, Z" would not fuel speculations. He would simply be stating he admires their skills in the sport, not their appearance or anything else. But I do understand that Japanese Media is more... rumor centered.. Or so it seems, to be extra cautious.

I get curious of these things, because Yuzu is one of the very few skaters that don't have social media. When you see who the other skaters are following on instagram, they all seem to follow each other alot. So I always wondered who Yuzu would follow if he ever makes Social Media (Except Nobu, Plu, Weir and Javi, because it's so obvious he would follow them). I can't imagine Yuzu trying to memorize Junior skaters before banquet events He probably doesn't know their names, but just takes pictures with them, when they ask for it. LOL Like I wonder if he knew Zagitova well when before she asked for a photo at 2016 GPF. (Unless he watched the entire JGP season) I would love it if the media one day asks about Trusova directly to him. They would be like, "So Jr ladies are now jumping 4Lz. What do you think about this?" And he would go all praise mode on how fast the sport is evolving in the ladies lol. Adding to my earlier discussion, if Yuzu ever makes social media, these are the accounts he would follow in my opinion: 1. Plu 2. Weir 3. Brian Orser 4. Tracy Wilson (maybe?) 5. Javi 6. Jeff B 7. Shae Lynn 8. Nobu 9. Lambiel and probably the olympic channel, edea skates, john wilson blades and ISU official.

So when a Jr ladies skater comes up to him for a photo during banquet, Do you think he will know their names?
-
I thought he was interested in ladies, because it is singles, like the men's.

There's a interview where he said he watches his main rivals Chan's videos alot. Like the way he uses his blades and stuff to study and research. Yuzu is as much of a figure skating mania as the hardcore skating fans himself, so I think he watches all the main events (GP, Worlds etc). The question is, does he still watch the ladies too? And I wonder why the Japanese media never asks him "Who is your favorite female skater at the moment?" When he was Junior, they asked him this question, and he said he liked Mao Asada and Yuna Kim. But once he turned senior, it was like this question became taboo or something. He never spoke since then which female skater he gets inspired from. Which is weird because I hear female skaters all the time about how much they admire Yuzu as a pure skater (Zagitova, Zhenya, Kostornaia: her instagram activity) and so forth. He is a skater's skater. So many professional skaters praise him in interviews. But it's rare you see Yuzu praise other skaters in other disciplines. (He mainly talks about men's field), which I don't blame in the slightest. Just curious why.

But he's always tried to experiment with new colors each season. Even Etude blue costume is a different shade of blue to H&L. I think Yuzu loves experimenting with new designs and costumes each year. Look at the Dory and Haruyo Koi costume this year! So different from any other season in terms of colors and design! Yuzu doesn't dress fancy in his day to day normal casual wear, but he is all out sort of Johnny Weir level of fancy gaga in his skating costumes. I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly brought a bird like costume to Otonal, as it is about nature, or like a random autumn leaf one like others predict. Personally, I want to see warm colors on him for once. Like all out Yellow or Red. For Nijinsky, I do want all black, but he might shatter expectations and bring a white or silver Nijinsky instead!
-
He did say he watches Yagudin, Plushenko and Weir recently in the interview on Media Day. I remember him complimenting Marin Honda that she was a strong skater in one of the video interviews, and I thought he watched her from Jr, because that interview was before she came to the senior ranks. Yuzu did say he watched Zhenya perform (Ice Jewels Interview) before, so I think he does watch Senior Ladies GP. But I'm not sure if he watches the ladies Jr JGP. But seeing as he is a hermit and loves skating, maybe he watches all of them? I also heard him say he watches Ice Dancing as well (he said he watched Shae Lynn Bourne whilst she was competing), so maybe he watches all events...
-
Someone told me that Yuzu mentioned he watches all Jr Grand Prix Events. Anyone have an interview reference that Yuzu watches JGP every season, religiously? (Meaning he also watches all JGPs, not just JGPF). I wonder if he also watches the ladies JGP too? I'm curious because, I want to know what Yuzu thinks about Trusova, the Jr Quad jumper in the ladies, and what he thinks about Alena Kostornaia, because she is sort of similar to Yuzu in a way that they are both rare, total package, lyrical skaters, who are olympic champion material/potential.

Wait a second. I remember when Yuzu first won his 2nd OGM, Japanese reporters would flock to him and ask "Are you planning to compete in Beijing olympics?" And Yuzu avoided the question like the plague. And said he had no intention just now. But then in the Press conference, he said if he goes to Beijing, he will go to win. And I remember Fanyus laughing at how this guy's Zen attitude doesn't last long lol. I know Beijing is ages away, but if he were to really go, I do hope he goes without being pressured to go. I know Team Japan has Shoma as the next Japan No.1 Male Skater in the line up, but their obsession with Hanyu to get a 3rd OGM is very evident. (They never stop asking him, given the chance to).
-
My God.. his ankles... We really need him to take a vacation in the Dead Sea or something, anywhere in the world, saunas, hot pools, you name it, to rest his ankle between this season and the next
-
But he did say he felt uncomfortable jumping flips and lutzs. Not pain, but still uncomfortable. I think he needs much more time to properly heal before he can attempt quad lutz again.
-
I think if there was a ranking on who was the athlete in the world with the lowest body fat, Hanyu would rank in the Top 3 at least... I've never seen an athlete so slim in my life. Except Anna Scherbakova, but then again she is Jr...
-
I'm sure he won't try red pants though. I hope he doesn't wear leather pants during competitions, because I can't focus on the program.
-
So he won't float in water because his body fat is too low?
-
He can always learn how to! I heard swimming is good for ankle sprain rehabs. Wonder why he hasn't tried it before? lol. I know there is a swimming pool in TCC, but I bet Yuzu never used it. I'm sure once he learns, he will excel at it. The boy has superior athletic nerves and muscles.
-
I seriously doubt he will attempt quintuples, because his ankles are not good enough to attempt flips and lutzs yet. I think he might venture his goals towards various modes of artistic expression instead! Like trying new music genres and choreo and so forth.
-
True. An evil part of me wishes he won't land it this season, just so I can see him try it for a few seasons more. But another part of me wants to see him land it this season and break another WR. I'm in agreement with you, that I just want him to be happy and healthy now, without pressure. He has done more than enough for figure skating. He deserves a break. I kind of want to see Yuzu on a big vacation holiday in Hawaii or something, just swimming with dolphins without kuyashii vibes after he lands 4A.
-
So I'm seeing all these costume predictions designs on twitter, and I must say, that Yuzu always manages to break our wildest imaginations and predictions with costumes. Who would ever have thought that H&L would have a ocean, nature sort of reference? I imagine Yuzu likes to break old traditions and cliches with costumes. So I imagine Nijinsky might not be the classical all black, and Otonal not the traditional blue. He's never afraid to experiment with new exciting, bold colors, so I expect any color in the rainbow from him really. But please no more white pants lol. People were really shocked at ACI because of those pants lol.
-
I'm sort of surprised and yet sad that Yuzu is attempting Quad Axel this season. I thought he would take at least 2 seasons before he planned to put it into his programs. I fear that this may mean Yuzu is planning retirement soon... Because his only goal and motivation was 4A, not Beijing 2022 OGM. I really want him to go to Beijing, but if he doesn't want to, we can't ask for more. He is already a 2 time Olympic Champion after all.
-
I want to see new commercials from new brands too! I'm sure he got lots of offers after winning his 2nd OGM.
-
We love ANA! I appreciate how they know Yuzu has English, Chinese fans too.

The ina bauer became a transition in the free instead of that dramatic feel it moment. I got angry at ISU when I read Yuzu's comment of how the 30 second deduction made the free even harder. ISU should take in Yuzu's opinions into consideration! Because he is GOAT lol (am I joking?)
