Why can't he sharpen his blades in Toronto? There is bound to be a specialist in Toronto. Much cheaper, and quicker. It's not like he can't speak English for instructions either.

I've seen both Yuzu and Shoma bomb their performances. Yuzu's worst bomb skate in my opinion was in 2012 Skate America FS, where he couldn't handle the pressure after he broke his first WR in the SP. It was his worst performance to date. Shoma bombed the 2018 Worlds FS really bad too. They both had bad days in their career. So I think Shoma can win over Yuzu at some point, but I hope it isn't nationals. I don't want commentators calling him National Silver Medalist, it just sounds out of place for a 2 time Olympic Champion, somehow..

Guys look on the bright side. If Figure Skating was as popular as soccer was, there would be practically zero chance for us to watch Yuzu competitions live. The ticketing would be even more of a bloodbath than it already is.

I love the first one! It's a mixture of Sparkle Salad Requiem and Etude! The 2nd one on the right is sooo unique! I will literally nose bleed and die because Yuzu will pull that European soldier prince look so well! He has the perfect Disney x japanese anime prince look for this!

I agree with you. But what I'm trying to say is that people will always want more records, titles, legends, bigger and grander. Especially the media. The Japanese media asked Hanyu so many times straight after he won PC olys about Beijing. They are still desperate for another olympic cycle even after a 2nd OGM

It's not just the possibility to get OGM at 2022 Olympics for Japan Fed. Yuzu is an ICON, the sort of figure skating icon that comes once every fifty years or so. I think Japanese Media and Fed may be obsessed with "The living legend in the making" breaking historical records. And I don't blame them. The hype around Hanyu sells tickets, products, boosts their national image etc. They'd want Yuzu to go for that 3rd OGM simply because it would make international headlines, produce massive hysteria and hype in the media, produce free publicity for skating. The last time we saw someone going for 3rd OGM was like nearly a century ago. It would be witnessing history, and we would be the lucky generation that could witness it ourselves.

I felt sad reading the last part. The thought of Yuzu having to live with a sore ankle worries me. I'm sure he wants to do alot of ice shows after he retires, so maybe he might retire around 25~26, so he can skill skate afterwards. I also think Yuzu will find it hard to resist the pressure from Japan to go to Beijing and win that 3rd title. He deserves to be completely free from it after all he's givin back to his country, but people get greedy for more. Yuzu can always go the artistic route where he skates just the team event in Beijing, and not go for gold in the singles like Plushenko. He has 2 OGMs. He doesn't really need a 3rd one to prove himself *although if he did win 3 OGMs, he would be invincible career wise.

Yes he will only be 27 if he goes for 3rd OGM, and if he gets it, no one can touch his legacy, for maybe even a hundred years, until it is broken again. While I know that Figure Skating is a sport for young people, the new IJS system will favor Yuzu even at 27. And if he has 4Lz by then, he is not at a disadvantage technically.

Where is 4CC 2021 being held?

He won Nationals 4 times so far, and with only Shoma as his rival, I think a few more national Golds will be fairly easy for him to get than Worlds and GPF medals. (Not underestimating Shoma, just stating the facts). How I see Yuzu, he doesn't seem to hunger for the 2022 Beijing Olympic Gold as much as he hungered for PC OGM. He never speaks about it openly, and I don't think he has secretly set his mind on it just yet. Yuzu probably really wants Worlds or GPF or even 4CC Gold though, because they have less pressure to get and also, he can only dedicate a few years instead of another whole olympic cycle.

Well the Japanese media certainly loves orimpiku "Ni Nen Pa" or GPF "Yon Nen Pa" It's just another achievement title. Consecutive titles are hard to achieve likewise too. I remember Japanese commentary always emphasizing it was Yuzu's "Yon nen pa" when he won GPF in 2016. They emphasize it more than any other media in my opinion

Hey on the bright side for Javi; he achieved straight European titles, and 2 straight world titles, whilst Hanyu never won Worlds consecutively, and he hasn't won 4CC yet (equivalent to European or similar). But Hanyu won 2 olympics, which are better, but Javi still achieved titles Hanyu has yet to achieve. OMG. What is this new drama again? I'm getting flashbacks to Faoi when he uploaded that long friendship post and then deleted it hours later. It seems Misha just cannot keep quite sometimes on social media. He does seem a bit immature in handling publicity compared to Javi.

I'm not sure. I read once that the score protest has to be within hours after the competition ended though.

They are like the prettiest leggings. The right color and width. And what's more is Yuzu has the perfect legs for them. I once saw a Japanese Fanyu tweet the price of them and they were HOLY EXPENSIVE. They were Men's Ballet leggings of some sort, that were from some professional brand I cannot remember. He really seems to like UA tops too, instead of other brands like Puma, Adidas or Nike. I'm dreaming that one day, UA will offer him an international commercial deal for yuzu to be their global ambassador or global model

If not harnesses, I hope he wears butt pads during Nessie trainings. Apparently they absorb alot of impact and shock when you fall. But I can't really imagine Yuzu wearing anything other than those tight leggings whilst training. He really prefers those leggings (And he looks fabulous in them so why not?). I love how Yuzu is the first guy ever not embarassed to wear tight leggings in front of millions of cameras. He made leggings look cool on a guy [admin edit]

Yes. I agree. The fanyu in the olympic channel office doesn't seem to understand this though. They look somewhat like click-bait to me now. But I love how they acknowledge Yuzu for what he is. He deserves alot of attention.

I think with English, he's just not interested in English culture that much. When alot of non-natives study English, they try to watch American TV Shows regularly to help them with vocabulary etc, but Yuzu seems to only watch Japanese TV or so it seems. Like I hardly ever heard him talking about American films or TV shows to study English. But then again, it's his preference. If Yuzu ever wanted to be half fluent in English, he either has to escape his hermit and socially hang out with people who speak english, or watch a bunch of English TV shows and read a bunch of english books to increase his vocab range. But seeing as he is too busy and involved in Skating related stuff, I think his English will stay more or less similar to it is now. Not that that's a problem of course

I sort of have this fantasy that after Yuzu retires, he's going to dedicate a year to learning new things; like swimming, cycling, driving, cooking, instagraming etc. lol Or he might just busy himself with ice shows... lol, and never learn them.
