  1. Didn't he have an incident in 2014 where a fan from Asia took a two-shot photo with him at some supermarket in Toronto? He stopped taking photos with fans in public in Toronto after that. Probably because that fan revealed that Yuzu told her "he lives around here" I heard some stalkers in Japan started looking for a supermarket in toronto downtown with the same supermarket background interior, and then uploaded the address of that supermarket online..... I found that very creepy indeed. No wonder he stopped taking photos with fans in Toronto streets or public places since then.
  2. Why doesn't ANA have direct flights from Torino to Toronto if it is one of the top airlines in Japan? Very unusual for a top skater like Yuzu to take transfer flights, when it costs him more time and stamina to do so. It's not like Yuzu is too poor to purchase more expensive direct flights, that take less airtime and is usually more comfortable and less of a hassle to wait and transfer.
  3. Well maybe you are right. I did feel that Alina Zagitova's Short program choreo is copy & paste for 3 seasons straight. I think you might be right that there is a bias in that judges don't mind "ctrl+c ctrl+v" literally copy and pasting choreo every year. Nathan always does a spread eagle to fill up parts of his choreo sequence. Though I gotta say I like Nathan's rocketman and land of all much better than his previous programs, and I think Nathan is trying to differentiate his free programs more than before. But here is also my theory. I always felt judges expect Yuzu to do more than others, well because he is Yuzu. He always pushed the sport forward. So when Yuzu has a weakness or anything to pick on, the judges flock to it like mad flies and only concentrate on that. I think maybe the reason Yuzu might be getting PCS deduction is because different standards apply to Yuzu. The judges expect him to be this perfect role model, and if he doesn't live up to it, the PCS is downgraded much harsher. Here are 2 areas of PCS grading where I think might be manipulated much more subjectively than objectively by the judges. And here are the 2 areas that will be boosted with a clean program + a good program Performance: This is where the scores start to become slightly more abstract and largely based on the judges' individual opinions. Is the skater physically, emotionally, and mentally involved in their program? Does the skater project to the entire audience and arena? Does the skater have presence on the ice with good carriage? Do they project their own personality while skating? Interpretation: This score reflects how well the judges feel that the skater is performing with their "soul" (whereas the Composition score is more about the choreography). Does the skater move in time to the music, or are all the movements just off by a beat or two? Does the skater reflect every little trill and ding with a corresponding skating move? By a good program I mean, Seimei, POTO, H&L (although you guys mentioned this was underscored), Origin, Chopin, LGC, Parisian Walkways etc. Yuzu usually brings amazing programs. So I don't think it's that he has bad programs or bad choreo. I think that when a program is recycled, the judges might somehow think it is less good than Nathan's just because Yuzu is repeating it whilst Nathan is not, and because double and unfair standards apply to Yuzu. They might also expect him to give a better performance just because he is recycling the program, and will have had more time to refine it. This might affect the grading because they expect more, so when Yuzu doesn't deliver, they downgrade much harsher than Nathan. I know it's theory, but what I'm trying to say is that yes it is politics, but it is also because the judges are nitpicking with Yuzu. They want to find the smallest thing they can say is not better than Nathan, and one of them may very well be that Yuzu recycles whilst Nathan never does.
  4. Thanks for your opinion. Didn't he recently say at a press conference his dream is to land all 6 quads in a program? I think he might not retire so soon, as he has a high goal. And to declare that publicly at a press con, sort of tells me he is staying for a while. On another topic before I go lurking again... Those stalkers who stalked Yuzu whilst he was walking with Rika, Shun and Yuma. OMG. Maybe this is why he can't even go outside in Toronto, because these stalkers know where he trains and probably will follow him even if he goes out to the park in Toronto or something. I feel really sorry for him because to live a life where you can't even have a tourist night in Torino because of stalking fans will be such a nightmare. I once heard he only stays in his hotel and doesn't go watch ladies competitions live anymore when he goes competing overseas. I once saw a 2010~2011 documentary about Yuzu strolling around with Tatsuki Machida in Red Square in Moscow as a tourist. There were no stalkers then. The 2 skaters were taking pics around Moscow and it seemed Yuzu could travel and go out in the city after the competition was over. I remember it was a documentary aired after Rostelecom Cup. The last time he went to a ladies competition live was 2014 sochi ladies free program. There are photos of him cheering for Kanako in the VIP seats. Ever since then, I've never seen him watch events live. Such a shame because sometimes top ladies skaters like Eteri girls can get to watch Yuzu compete live without being mobbed. Maybe he can't go watch competitions live after he finishes his event because of all these stalkers? Such a shame to know someone can't even go for a normal night stroll even after the competition is over. This is very shocking. I love seeing instagram pics from skaters who go touring the competition host city after they finish their free program. But Yuzu probably can't ever go tourist spotting anymore like he used to in 2010 ~ 2011
  5. Yes I do hear this many times, and yet I find myself listening to them whenever they talk about Yuzu. I will take your feedback very seriously and try to implement them into my posts next time. Let me ask you this, because I would love to hear your opinion, not mine. How would you feel though if Yuzu were repeating both his programs again next year? Do you personally think judges will mark Yuzu's PCS down for recycling them again next year?
  6. Yes I see your point. I'm only basing my opinions off what most people who tried to defend Nathan's PCS scores over Yuzu's said why Yuzu is getting underscored in PCS. I think their excuse is bad too. I think marking down someone for recycled programs is pathetic too (although understandable why that might happen). And whilst I know not to trust what TSL said about this, they do know the judges personally (some of them). *According to them they even know some judges who judge adult competitions as well as international competitions. And what TSL said was: "When push comes to shove between Yuzu and Nathan, the judges will bring up that Yuzu is repeating both his programs this year" I know TSL is a bunch of garbage, but sometimes they do know things we don't. And yes I know there are exceptions to the rule that some skaters' PCS rises even though they repeat their program. But how many times have you guys heard people complaining about Ashley Wagner always repeating that program of hers? (I forgot the title, but at one time people were going on and on about it in forums). A skater building a career reputation of recycling programs over and over is not a good look. I think Yuzu has built a reputation in the skating community of recycling his programs many times, and whilst some judges won't mind, there may be judges who do.
  7. Yeah it is politicking. I'm saying it is unfair politics, but it's a way they find excuses to mark him down for PCS. Judges scrutinize Yuzu's programs to find excuses or flaws to mark down, and most likely they find his recylcing irritating, whereas they find Nathan's new programs more fresh and more appealing by whatever their standards are. I don't know about Arakawa, but isn't Alina an exception? She was the perfect young age of 15 for the Russian fed to boost her PCS scores up in case Zhenya bombed at olympics. It is politics yes. But at least Alina had a new Short Program for olympics. She didn't repeat both her programs.
  8. P.S. As for warhorses, that doesn't count I believe. A skater choosing a warhorse is not an excuse for marking down their PCS, because every skater can express a warhorse, for example Carmen in their own unique and different new way etc. I would love to see Yuzu's own version of Nessun dorma. And I think some judges won't mind Yuzu doing a warhorse program. I myself would want to see Yuzu do a warhorse next season. But I don't want to see it twice. This is what I mean by not recycling. Warhorses have nothing to do with recycling, because what I meant by recycling is a skater recycling their own music and program and choreography from previous seasons. But when a skater repeats THEIR OWN same program, then it becomes a recycling disadvantage. Because most likely it is the same choreography, same spins, same step sequences with the same music cut, with maybe a changed jump layout with maybe a different costume. There may be subtle changes, but they are small changes that not many people notice on the spot The judges know the program, the fans know it, we know what's coming next too well because we've seen it for a whole season. Then judges might find an excuse to say it gets "old or boring" Why else do you think skaters in all disciplines try to bring new music and new programs every year, if not for PCS score boosting? - This comment is kind of too vague. But let me explain. Imagine if Yuzu repeated Chopin 4 times, but it gets better every season. He perfects it every season. Would you still want to see it for 4 seasons, and miss out on all the new music, choreo that he could have tried in replacement? Would you still want to see the upgraded perfect chopin even if you had to see it for 4 whole seasons? I think the majority would answer no. It's just the human psychology. We naturally prefer change, variety, something new to see. The "But Yuzu recycles BOTH his programs, and he does it way too often, and it gets so boring to watch the same program again and again, there is nothing fresh or exciting or new to see" discussion always comes up among Yuzu haters, antis, fans of Nathan, US fans because it is an excuse yes. It is an excuse to mark Yuzu's PCS down. I think it is an excuse to also over evaluate Nathan's PCS in comparison. Because Nathan never recycles his programs, at least not yet on the senior circuit. Is it fair? No. Is it understandable? Yes.
  9. Sorry I saw this quote now. I did mention how Japanese fans were very upset at the timing of the birthday cake. The things that antis said was not the main point of the post, but an elaboration of the side effects of what happened as a result of Yuzu declining the cake from a little girl. I know some japanese antis twist everything Yuzu does and posts them on twitter, and some fans do screencap this and complain about it. I am sorry for translating everything they said on twitter. Sometimes I literally just translate the whole tweet. I will be a little more careful of what I translate, because what and how some JP fans feel may not be the general opinion. In general, they were very worried the whole video will be misread by the Japanese public too, because some people might view Yuzu declining a birthday cake from a little girl was "cold hearted" etc. And I translated the tweet of what might happen as a result of giving Yuzu the birthday cake at the wrong timing. I think we follow the similar fan base on twitter because on my timeline, there were many negative comments about the wrong timing to give the birthday cake too. Just like how you mentioned above in your post. I will take your post very seriously. Thanks for the feedback. As for generalizing Japanese fans opinions, I only started posting about them because my whole timeline was a s**t show when fans were fighting over whether or not to sing Happy Birthday to Yuzu during Kiss and Cry. And my timeline at the time was a MESS, like scroll after scroll of japanese fans complaining, whining, subtweeting, worrying, being frustrated. I guess I did generalize they were rather collectively angry at the time in relation to this whole kiss and cry birthday surprise. Thank you for your opinion. Next time, I will only say what I think the majority are saying, rather than include every little detail that some japanese fans are saying in regards to issues like this one.
  10. When you have a rival who never repeats both their SP and FS programs, then recycling becomes more noticeable for the judges to find an excuse for underscoring someone. Nathan never recycled any of his programs at the senior stage. Even during juniors he only recycled 1 program. That is one of his only strength and advantage he has over Yuzu. He always brings something new to the table to surprise the judges with something they have never seen before. I already said it's unfair to mark someone down for recycling, but that may be the reality of the judging system. Even Philip Hersh said he's tired of seeing Otonal again. And although he's not a judge himself, he has enough connections in the figure skating world that includes prominent judges who may feel the same way. If someone is "tired, bored" of seeing the same program again, it does affect how they score the PCS. They might mark down the performance score, composition and interpretation score. It has a chance of affecting 3/5 aspects of the PCS scoring. Everyone knows recycling a program is a disadvantage compared to someone who always tries to bring new programs to the table. New programs are brought to bring a "wow factor" to the table, to give the judges something new, fresh and unexpected. I am a Fanyu myself but if Yuzu recycles both his programs next season, then it's even more likely that the judges will be bored of it and mark his PCS down even more. As for Chopin, I think Nathan's PCS was still over-scored even then, most likely because judges were finding an excuse to over-score Nathan and one of the excuses was: Nathan never recycles, at least not on the senior circuit. I know it's not fair, but I do understand it in a way. To be honest, even though I am a huge fan of Yuzu, I get less excited about seeing Otonal this year than last year. Last year I loved it, but this year, I just was sort of bored only because I already know the choreography and music too well. I think Yuzu might be missing the point. I think he might not realize that Nathan is beating him because of these reasons. 1. Yes Nathan's nationality does give him a boost 2. Yes Nathan's BV is very high 3. And yes, it is highly likely Nathan is getting fluctuated PCS because both his programs are always new. And this is an advantage no matter how hard you try to deny it. Judges always love something new. But Yuzu does not seem to realize this. I'm not saying Yuzu would have won if he had 2 new programs this year. I'm saying 2 new programs would not have given the judges any excuse to mark down Yuzu's PCS just for recycling them And even fans have limits. If Yuzu does repeat Origin and Otonal again next year, I will be disappointed, no matter how much I love Yuzu. I think he is the most artistic and musical figure skater ever, and to have him not be more versatile to show all the different sides of him with many different types of genres before he retires would be a shame and a little bit of a waste of his artistic talent. I think Yuzu's greatest strength is his genre versatility. He can express so many different types of genres in many different ways. Whereas Nathan can't (it's what I honestly think about Nathan's artistry. He has a limited versatility to express a wide variety of music genres). I think Yuzu should play with his strengths more often. He should show the judges he is a skater capable of bringing out and beautifully executing and expressing all different types of music; tango, classics, jazz, pop, ballad, rock and many more. He has to bring the discussion to the judging table that HE is the more musically gifted, and more musically versatile skater. That Yuzu is the skater that can suit a wide range of music and choreographic styles. He can't just rely on higher BV to win. To win, he has to play to not just one, but ALL his strengths and advantages over Nathan. And that includes bringing new and exciting, never seen before fresh programs that blows the judges away. With this sort of score manipulation, I believe he needs a masterpiece program that judges are not expecting, or have never seen something similar to. Just like how he brought Seimei in 2015. It blew the judges away because it was something (unusual music, unusual choreo) no skater had ever tried before. P.S. As for warhorses, that doesn't count I believe. A skater choosing a warhorse is not an excuse for marking down their PCS, because every skater can express a warhorse, for example Carmen in their own way etc. But when a skater repeats THEIR OWN same program, then it becomes a recycling disadvantage. Why else do you think skaters in all disciplines try to bring new music and new programs every year, if not for PCS score boosting?
  11. Hi everyone I'm back. I have a million things to say but I will say this. I think judges marked Yuzu's PCS down because he did recycle his programs. I know it is a pathetic excuse, but like TSL said earlier in the year, when push comes to shove, the judges will bring up that Yuzu repeated BOTH his programs, whilst nathan has 2 NEW programs. It's a dumb reason to mark someone's PCS down, but judges are always looking for excuses to mark Yuzu down because they think Yuzu will need to retire soon or something. I really hope this sends Yuzu a big message to try 2 new programs next year and bring something totally new and interesting to boost up his PCS scores. I was worried this exact thing might happen at GPF, 4CC and Worlds, and it did. Yuzu's PCS was underscored severely for no apparent reason, no reason given. And then out of nowhere, Philip Hersh tweets that Yuzu's Otonal is boring because he repeated it. Figure skating journalists like Philip Hersh does have influence in the figure skating world, and I do believe that some people might be bored of seeing the same programs over and over. Other than that, I cannot think of a reason why Yuzu would get less PCS than Nathan, I just cannot see anything that would make that comparison valid. I would love to see ISU factor the PCS scores higher in Men's competitions to match the quads I would also like the lost 30 seconds back in the free program, so men have more time to set up big jumps. I also want to see spin scores increased in scale in both SP and FS, but I know this will never happen because ISU has always under evaluated the importance of spins in a program. To me, spins are just as important as jumps in figure skating, but ISU doesn't see to think so. I think 3 spins per program is a perfect number. But I do not believe spins receiving such little points in comparison to jumps is fair. Some skaters like Yuzu and Valieva have the top flexibility of their field and their spin positions are so unique, difficult and beautiful. I believe unique spins make skaters like Yuzu and Valieva really stand out from the rest of the crowd. And thus, I hope ISU someday give more points for spins in general.
  12. Omg I would personally love to be hit on the face with a cake from Yuzuru. But only if it is from Yuzu. When something is from Yuzu, it becomes magical lol. 😃👍 Anyway I need to sleep now but after some rest, I have tons to say about the unfair scoring, ISU politics, why Yuzu needs the 4A to turn the tables and change the game around, the obsession ISU has with new faces and new "stars", Yuzu mentioning his old age during press con and why I think Yuzu is an exception to that rule until he turns 27~28 ish, confusion as to why ISU doesn't acknowledge "total package" qualities in men's field but acknowledges it in the ladies field, why I think I-Scope statistics should be included in the protocol for all Quads and Triple axels in the future for fair judging, the importance of jump height and distances when grading GOE, and the underevaluated spin scores, the need to factor PCS higher in Men's especially because of quads, and the need to lengthen free skate back up by 30 seconds. Whew. I will elaborate on them very soon. But here's one thing I want to say before I go to bed. Why aren't they showing the i-scope statistics for all jumps in the protocol sheet if they can measure jump distances and height now? I believe we need to add the exact jump distance and height on quads and 3As on the protocol for more calculative, objectively measurable grading on the GOEs. The landing and transitions can't be measured with numbers, but jump scales can. We need to add more objective factors when grading jump GOEs. Today I saw Yuzu jump a 4lz noticeably bigger than Nathan's but it didn't get rewarded in comparison. I am tired of seeing Yuzu's biggest strengths being undervalued and being ignored right in front of them when they now have the scientific technology to measure jump scales.
  13. Who organized the flower girl to give Yuzu the birthday cake during Kiss and Cry? Yuzu seemed to think the timing and place was inappropriate to accept the birthday cake. If fans organized the birthday cake, Kiss and Cry was not the timing to give it to Yuzu. I thought we talked this through as a fandom not to bother Yuzu during Kiss and Cry with birthday surprises. He clearly did not want it during Kiss and Cry and hence rejected it. I see a lot of Japanese fans talking about the ill timing of this on twitter and are rather angry with the timing. Jp Fanyus are angry because now some people in Japan who are not fans of Yuzu are bashing Yuzu for declining a cake from an innocent girl and it is exactly why japanese fanyus didn't want to do any birthday treat for Yuzu during Kiss and Cry. Because Japanese media and public sometimes like to twist little things Yuzu does to fabricate something about his personality. They have a great desire to pull him down, to find little things to twist into a "Yuzu is cold" story. We want Yuzu to stop running into situations that are unusual and abnormal or situations that make him feel uncomfortable. We want him to stop running into uncomfortable situations he feels the need to decline on the spot. Please for the love of God, do not bother him during Kiss and Cry next time. He rejected it once, and it is all you need to know how he felt about being suprised during Kiss and Cry with birthday treats. Might I add a competition is not the time for fan meetings or fan gifts or fan surprises, and kiss and cry is indeed a crucial part of competing. I think a birthday cake after victory lap would be better. Just never during kiss and cry.
  14. Anyone know why ISU is not uploading Top 3 Men's SP on ISU whilst they uploaded the ladies event?
  15. My gosh... So many mixed feelings, but I will say this: I'm afraid ISU wants to force Yuzu to retire, by making him mistakenly think "his golden years, his peak performance years are long gone". That is bull crap. Yuzu is even better than he was 2 years ago, he's doing harder layouts with even more difficult transitions and his consistency is still good as ever. His artistry even improved more. Yuzu's scores should be rising, not decreasing. ISU is going in the total opposite direction. What a way to treat a legendary skater who they will never ever meet the likes of Yuzu for another 300+ years. What a way to treat someone who sells nearly 97% of their competition ticket revenue. And this wasn't some B-competition like ACI, this was GPF, one of the most important competitions in the season, and no coach? Not even Tracy could come? Honestly, I didn't say anything on instagram or twitter but I am kind of confused, a bit angry and just disappointed in ISU once more. Nathan should have been first, but not with that giant margin. Nathan is like the male Trusova for me, and I honestly cannot understand how his programs are more artistic or musical than Yuzu's. And the whole 1 coach per skater rule that ISU made on the spot was so dumb and pointless, what benefit does that serve ISU exactly?
  16. You mean 2020 GPF will be a test event for 2022 olympics? I want to be there. And China is presumably much cheaper than Canada and Europe right? I want to go to Sweden, but Montreal doesn't seem to have that Europe vibe I want from a travel (more metropolitan urban vibe), so I am contemplating whether or not I should go. I can make time for Worlds, but tell me. Is Montreal worth going as a tourist spot? Does it have many tourist spots? I found a hostel near Centre Bell and it wasn't that expensive (though much more expensive than russia).
  17. Why are the Motreal World tickets so expensive? I went to Rostelecom cup last year and they were waaay cheaper. Anyone know where 2020 GPF will be held? Maybe I should pass out Montreal Worlds....
  18. He got a short hair cut! I hope it looks nice with the Origin Pushed back hairstyle
  19. Imagine if both goes clean I actually want to see who the judges will score more if both of them go perfectly clean.
  20. I watched the TSL this and that preview of GPF last night and they were predicting Yuzu wins GPF But they also revealed Nathan has been taking online classes recently and training with Rafael in person, and they said that Nathan's going for GPF head on.
  21. Omg Nathan is getting gloves? That's unusual of him Come to think of it, the last time I saw Yuzu compete without gloves with Chopin.... Yuzu always wears gloves with his free skate. Romeo and Juliet 2014, phantom (??), Seimei, Hope and Legacy and now with Origin. Yuzu loves gloves with his free skate! Did yuzu wear gloves during POTO?
  22. The ISU Skating Awards Selection Commission will take into account the on-line voting results of each of the 3 voting groups with the same weight, i.e. Public 1/3 - Media 1/3 - ISU Member Federations 1/3. Only on-line votes submitted via the ISU on-line voting platform will count. For the determination of result of the Public on-line vote and Media on-line vote, the ISU Skating Award Selection Commission will take into account for each Award category: a) the absolute number of on-line votes per candidate including on-line votes from all countries b) the absolute number of on-line votes per candidate including on-line votes from all countries but not including the on-line votes from the Candidates country of origin. c) the number of on-line votes per candidate broken down by on-line votes from each country d) considering this first-time edition of the ISU Skating Awards and related totally unknown on-line voting result and proportion by country of the result, the ISU Skating Award Selection Commission will weigh the above-mentioned on-line results details with the objective to determine the final Nominees reflecting a fair and balanced world-wide opinion. Except it said on their website that they are gonna give little weight to votes from the skater's own country. Hence, the JP Fanyus who want to vote should change their country of origin when signing up lol.
  23. I tried making a new ISU account with disposable email, and it works fine. I voted again! Let's vote with temporary email addresses lol https://www.tempmailaddress.com/
  24. It also helped how he pushed his hair back for Origin and LGC. He now knows how sexy he is with his hair pushed back. He has the most amazing manly brow ridges and amazing brow lines. I think he should push his hair back more often.
  25. I admit it does make him look like a gothic vampire... It would suit a vampire program too
