just some days makes you curse toepicks ... but remember the SEIMEI crossrolls as motivation
-
Don't be afraid of jumping! (it's more likely you'll kill yourself on a crossover <-- personal experience wise)
-
Made a slomo 4Lz comparison of these two from similar angles.

Tried my hand at identifying them from the vid, correct me if i'm wrong Yuzuru: choctaw, counter, 3, step, outside SE Nathan: mohawk, chasse, xover, mohawk, step, 3 Shoma: rocker, mohawk, xover, rocker, mohawk Nathan enters 4F with a mohawk, Shoma with a 3 turn so i didn't count those. Nathan's lacking steps, Shoma seems to have tried to put some in.

omg you're right...Brian's Angels

It must be said, everyone's applying their strategy and we just have to see how it pans out. It is the olympic games after all. Anyways what has always stood out to me about Yuzuru is how he performs everything with his particular style, even made me come to like PW. It'll be interesting to see how that will evolve and new nuances chopin will acquire.

Grand Prix assignments and how they work
itiahs replied to sublimeskating's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Thanks for the stats! I wonder if it'll make any difference that SA is in an olympic sized rink this time ... I'm not sure about SC, couldn't find any information -
Jmo if you're trying to make a superskater and pie in the sky ship then I'd go with with Yuna But I don't ship so lol ... This is purely from a genetic engineering point of view

It's interesting to see the depression of yuzu's GOEs laid out like this

Speaking of SOI, I couldn't stop watching Jeremy Abbott's program, fancam shows speed and flow so much better I know he's not officially r****ed but current status is ambiguous. I've read somewhere that he wants to return to competition just because that offers him more opportunities to perform in front of audiences?? That's so sad...that would never happen in Japan. I really liked his skating and his programs.
-
This is totally a layman's observation but Plushenko and Kolyada's biellmanns looks like they don't have enough shoulder flexibility. MCM and Yuzu's look different. I remember Johnny Weir commenting once that the biellmann requires shoulder flexibility as well?

Lol, no matter what was said or not said in that documentary, the only thing that was important was that side by side clip of skating practice. Speaks for itself. Maybe the spanish media that produced it don't know enough about skating to be able to tell the difference, but the difference in their skating skills!

Praying for Skate Canada and France...(however impossible it may seem) Also, I don't think the location for Nationals has been decided yet?
-
Mao going to Canada for programs for the Ice
-
yes, definitely hoping for a CS comp, especially ones that have good streams! I think Autumn Classic qualified for challenger again...?
-
IIRC JSF makes an exception for skaters who are competing internationally during sectionals/regionals, but this special seeding means Yuzuru doesn't even have to have international comps to skip the locals ones
-
Yup, and this was the first time such an exception had been made! JSF doing something right
-
I just read an article saying Yuzuru was given special seeding to go to nationals without going through sectionals etc., normally only the top three from the last Nationals are seeded. Also read somewhere that since Yuzuru is affiliated with ANA he would've gone through the Tokyo area local comps? That would've been interesting

love all these stories :pbow: Always casually watched figure skating but wasn't a fan of figure "jumping", you know because they disturbed the flow of the program. Then Yuna came along to change that opinion, and Yuzuru followed at Sochi. But he was still just the kid with the brilliant smile back then. It wasn't until COC 2014 and the redemption of GPF 2014 that I was converted... But I became really obsessed when I went back and watched 2011-2012 season. Specifically Etude; expressing that music as 16-17 year old?? Someone said it in the old FF, that Yuzuru imbues his performances with his soul. So then I went on GS and read the whole FanFest twice! (it was much shorter then )

Team we're fewer but still good!
itiahs replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Gah I love Deniss and Jun Hwan, but their 3As :cries: I also kind of like Brezina, not his programs but his skating is nice. Ladies: Ivett. Anyone know any up and comers with good 3As? -
True, the coaches shoulder some responsibility. Looking at Mao and Kanako who were such strong natural jumpers I think about what might have been

I don't blame anybody to be honest, it's hard to see pre-rotation in real time for the judges. and tech panel can be inconsistent with edge calls. It's sports and they're all competing within the rules allowed. I'm just disappointed in the system (as ever) And yuzuru, well he is on another level of skating OCD, he has standards up there in the stratosphere. The double edged sword is that he makes it hard for himself...well he confessed himself that when it comes to skating he's a masochist, LOL

Hi Lila, I made this thread and linked to it. I don't know if the admins want to a make a separate one for videos made by members here though.

Do you have a blog somewhere? I would love to read it  But yeah, the structure of H&L is outside the norm for figure skating. It's like you're listening to all these pop songs and then all of a sudden, bam, a classical composer.
