  1. So, Twitter provided a great solution for my "I miss Hanyu' problem. Apparently there's a fanart exhibition going on online, check it out: https://twitter.com/search?q=%23ツイッターで楽しむ羽生結弦ファンアート展&src=typeahead_click My favorite is the Yuzu bentos.
  2. 'supposed to become' is a misnomer. More like 'the world will finally acknowledge what is already true', in my opinion.
  3. That's ok, it's got Origin 1.0 in it, which I absolutely adore!
  4. Me too! I need to see our boy!! Even if just in new advertising!
  5. I agree. And the Google thing happened completely organically, and cost nothing. If ISU Figure Skating just had enough sense to lean into these serendipitous moments a little more, and make the most of them, they'd be all set. But I really don't think they understand the digital age.
  6. Yes. The awards show is definitely the fault of the organising committee for Worlds. The scoring is the result of the judges' choices at each competition. Two completely separate groups of people
  7. I'm sure it's like any other large volunteer organization - a matter of schmoozing and politicking, and as far as I can tell, anyway, JSF doesn't seem to do that.
  8. Yeah. Or, more generally, the Japanese skaters as a group, because they're all very appealing skaters and do good things on the ice. And the Japanese audience is already huge. I've been thinking for a while now that when they say ' raise the popularity of figure skating', what they really mean is 'find the magic formula that will bring European/Western audiences back to the fold' , and that doesn't sit well with me at all. And if they're looking for untapped market share, then by logic they should be looking at ways to expand the audience for figure-skating in South America, Africa, South Asia and the Arab world. Something about the whole enterprise makes me question the motivation behind it.
  9. Well, you weren't talking about scores in your original post, you were talking about this ridiculous farce of an awards show. Judging and scores are a whole other conversation.
  10. Now that I've seen the rink layout for the show, I bet we get Dory. waggy finger and all. Never underestimate Mr. Hanyu.
  11. -! Well, if you have haters on both sides of the spectrum. it's usually a good sign you're doing something excellent.
  12. As long as no one's upset by our choice of subject matter, it's all fair game, I say.
  13. The mental images. I need brain bleach I think!
  14. Kurt Browning had a pair once for a routine as well, and he recently revealed in an interview that the only way he could move in them is if they oiled them up with Vaseline (on the outside of the pants), otherwise the legs would stick to each other and hinder his skating.
  15. this brought tears to my eyes. I'm so happy for you. And here's why: I agree that Yuzu would be just as respectful to another country's flag as to his own.
  16. Wow, that's a far more complicated situation than I had originally thought. I saw the Twitstorm over it but didn't have all the details. Anyway
  17. That was actually the only part she liked because she said she could finally see a bit of his personality show through.
  18. I hope so. @river Out of the blue my nutty co-worker asked me about Yuzu and I've just spent the last two hours giving her what could only be called the Yuzu 101 seminar. Had to show her Nathan and Han Yan, too, just so she could understand all the different flavours. She does flamenco as a hobby, so has an eye for dance, and her reactions were interesting...she called Nathan's arms 'dead' and pointed out that Yuzu is using his arms down to the very fingertips. She also told me she thought Han was better than Nathan...well it's hard to disagree as long as you're not talking about quads...
  19. The judges should automatically disqualify any 4Lz that doesn't look like these two. Not even joking. This is what 4Lz is meant to be.
  20. Then he'd have to come back next year. But this is very serious news. I'm glad the ISU isn't taking any risks though.
