  1. You're right, it does! It seems fitting though - he's our missing-from-the-ice golden boy.
  2. Lutzifer/Lady Lutz, 4Lo, 4S. 4T is an old pal who would never betray him. The others have to be courted delicately
  3. Wasn't that when he played an actual samurai lord in that movie?
  4. Could be worse! But everybody has their own taste in politician's looks I guess
  5. well, we got Trudeau, at least he's handsome and has a soothing voice...but yeah, jealous of Japan rn
  6. There must be one somewhere...haven't reached it yet though
  7. If you click the link I posted, you'll know. Jason Brown & a few other people are doing an online 'skating' show to raise funds for COVID relief. Basically a whole bunch of skaters past and present will be livestreaming clips of whatever they can come up with. Starts in an hour and a bit, at 8pm Eastern Time
  8. Is anyone planning to watch Blades for the Brave? www.bladesforthebrave.org
  9. Work culture in Japan can be summed up in one word: presenteeism. Asking them to accommodate working from home is probably akin to asking a fish to live in the air instead of the water.
  10. Man, ToshI fell down the rabbit hole of Hanyuism and hasn't hit bottom yet, has he?
  11. Mishin's skaters don't seem to have this issue, can't speak about other Russian coaches but I haven't noticed it as much. In American skaters, Vincent Zhou comes to mind as having had this problem in the past, although I suspect Lee Barkell will fix it for him. Raf doesn't let his skaters keep bad habits as far as I've seen. And I can't think of any Canadian coaches that would let their skaters suffer that way. Nor any Japanese ones.
  12. Yes, I think this is a big issue for Eteri's camp especially. It's something that happens in all sports, though. As my swimming coach used to say, practice doesn't make perfect - perfect practice makes perfect. If you're doing something incorrectly and go out and practice it 10,000 times, all you've done is created a bad habit.
  13. Was he using super-formal language? It sounded that way.
  14. The way I would describe Alina's skating is that she's clearly done a lot of it, but she seems to lack an understanding of the most basic fundamental: the physical mechanics of blade meeting ice and what way to place the foot for maximum benefit from minimum effort. If you watch a skater like Patrick Chan or Hanyu or even Zhenya (both now and back when she was still with Eteri), you'll see what I mean immediately. In general, I think the girls of Sambo70 work too hard on the ice for what they get back: their stroking can be labored, they lose speed, they have inefficient body positions, etc. Yes they jump brilliantly, but...
  15. As magnificent as that was, when I watch it all I can think is that he's so much better now and his current programs are lightyears ahead of what this was. Incredible when you think about it, really.
  16. I think it actually might be too fast-paced for a competition piece, but just for fun we could try and guess what it would be like.
  17. That's awesome - especially where he snacked on the scraps he was cutting away. It was so unexpected and made me laugh
  18. For the sheer chaos of it: Pretend you're Jeff Buttle or Shae-Lynn Bourne, and Yuzu has just come to you with his music selection for the next season ( whenever that'll be). One of his choices is Cruel Angel's Thesis. He wants you to craft a competition-suitable program with the wildest StepSeq you can think of. What's your choreo and recommended layout?
  19. maybe Kaiya Ruiter as well, then? She's 13. Don't know if she'll be senior in time though @yuzuangel Ack, sorry!
  20. I saw the other day where TASS.ru published a bit touting Valieva as the next great thing.
