  1. Considering he's already done them on harness though, and what we saw at GPF...basically if the coaches weren't there saying 'nonono!' I'm pretty sure that boy would be swinging from the rafters by now. Yes he knows the value of safety but only as a tool to get him where he wants to be. Think of Yuzu as a mountain climber - he's not the type who'd be happy with Everest, he'd be out there trying new routes up K2 or Annapurna's most inaccessible faces.
  2. For some reason my brain went '5S! 5T!' when I read that....y'all maybe think Yuzu's going to chill down into some kind of glorified ice dancer after he's done competing but I think he'll just be free of all constraints then...and no Uncle Ghislain to reign him in... the Lord above only knows what we'll see then.
  3. I still think it's highly premature to speak of his r*******g yet. Even he probably doesn't know yet when he will do that. It's prudent for him to make plans and look around at what's out there, that's all.
  4. And the cat allows it. Yuzuru Hanyu, cat whisperer.
  5. Same old same old. Yuzu's retreated to the bat cave and we're trying to keep ourselves entertained while we wait for 4CC
  6. I think this is where his university degree comes in. He's studying some pretty difficult but interesting stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if he threw himself into academia as fully as he now throws himself into skating and became a researcher.
  7. Kaetlyn Osmond recently gave an interview where she said exactly the same thing. I think she mentioned that Skate Canada is trying to get something in place to help their retiring athletes, but it's only in the starting stages. For that matter, skaters do have it a bit easier than swimmers, in the sense that there's an established professional path for skaters into the performing arts world, coaching, judging, etc. Whereas for swimmers there's really nothing. You can coach but the daily training routine ends cold turkey for a lot of people. I never got beyond local/provincial level competition, and I still hit a profound depression after I quit and gave up swimming seven or eight workouts a week. I can only imagine how much worse it was for Phelps at his level. Yuzu at least has a sense of purpose in his work for Tohoku disaster recovery, and that will be going on for a very long time, so hopefully things will go smoothly for him when the time comes. But that time is far far off in the distance, I hope.
  8. It's so interesting to compare Yuzu to other top athletes. Gives you idea where he's at in terms of ability in the broader perspective. I personally compare him to Michael Phelps.
  9. The thought occurred to me last night that this situation does have the potential to affect World's. I really hope it doesn't, though.
  10. According to the latest news, Wuhan and the 16 cities around it - an area of some 50 million people - has been completely sealed off - no travel in or out allowed. Anyone in that area who has 4CC tickets will definitely not be able to get to Korea at all. I hope any fanyus - not to mention everyone else living there -in the area are ok.
  11. Maybe they're trying to make him look like a cat? It's a very kittenish pose.
  12. According to Twitter's translate function "Please enjoy with cat's eyes"
  13. Yeah, I thought that this time too. Brian didn't sound as definite and positive about Yuzu's abilities as he normally does. Talking about 'when it all comes together, Yuzu can win' is totally the wrong mindset. I prefer not to criticize Yuzu's coaches, so all I'm going to say is, Stay positive, Brian! Yuzu needs that. Anyway, I'm not surprised that Yuzu was exhausted after JNats. It was a long hard road this fall and he obviously did need to rest. Maybe Yuzu overestimated his own capacity to do competition after competition. But that part of the season is done and has nothing to do with what's next. I'm not going to make the mistake of underestimating Yuzu for 4CC or Worlds. Yuzu's going to have a great 4CC, amaze us all (again) and achieve exactly what he wants to achieve, including gold. I decree it, because I have a good feeling about it. Positive energy, guys. We need to bring it right now!
  14. Well hey, if Zoe can do it... I have to admit I'm loving the pairs women's never-say-die energy!
  15. They're technically not Royals anymore, they'll be in line with the rest of us
  16. At this rate, next year it'll be Harry and Meghan....
  17. Oddly enough, she first showed up in my Twitter feed for a tweet about health care, of all things. I had no idea about all the rest. Nor that she was at ACI this year.
  18. I clicked on the thread and this sexy thumbnail is the first thing I see. Now I won't be any use to anyone for the rest of the day.
  19. The tote design is great but it's highly detailed and isn't going to look very clear or stand out at badge size. Something simpler and more graphic will work better. People are free to write what they like in the name portion since it will be blank. At least that's the plan. The intention is to save folks from having to repeatedly fumble for a name, regardless of which name it is.
  20. Yuzu on top and two complete underdogs no one expected to ever win in the #2 and #3 spots would be really interesting and fun. The way this season is going, anything can happen, so why not? But Yuzu on top, that's for certain.
  21. Thanks for the translation. TBH it's the kind of situation where's there's really not much Candaloro can say beyond this.
