Indeed. it should be interesting.

Well, he gets the scores without having to do any more than that so... However, I think he tries for the artistry in some fashion. Like, there's a realization that it needs to be there.

Well, open question here - is there any men's singles skaters on the scene right now that don't have at least some artistic (for lack of a better term) side? I can't think of anyone that is like, well, super 'macho' in their presentation at the moment. No one is flexing muscles and doing karate programs. I feel like men's skating has moved on, and the pursuit of beauty in the performance is more of a thing. Maybe 'refinement' is a better word to use? I mean, I find Keiji Tanaka very masculine, but not at all 'macho', if you can follow what I'm trying to convey. He's refined. Even the Russian lads, who are obviously trying to be 'manly', have a refinement to them that maybe you wouldn't have seen in Elvis' day.

Well, there's nothing stopping him from making an attempt at the Gala instead, if it's sorta ready but not competition ready. I don't think he'll do that, but still.

That's not the first time people have posted video of their cats watching Yuzu. The cats always seem fascinated. Guess they recognize one of their own.

I wholeheartedly admire and am in awe of his determination to make nine-year-old Yuzu's dreams come true, one by one. He was one determined mushroom and now look how far he's gotten!

Now I can't find the quote back, but I'm sure I read it somewhere. However, if you go read over the Olympic Channel's blog about GPF Turin, at one point they interview Ghislain and he talks about 5T bring easier than 4A.

Not sure if you missed it but during the morass of interviews and press stuff surrounding ACI this year, Yuzuru did casually mention he'd been trying quints in harness in order to work on the rotation speed for 4A. Ghislain confirmed, literally said "i never thought I'd see someone do a 5S in my lifetime". So Yuzu has done quints already, in training with the harness.

I didn't say it was wrong, I just said it was cute. Anyway, I was taught in school that the French 'ain' is pronounced with more of an 'eh' sound than an 'onh' sound. Perhaps wrongly, but there you go.

I don't have time to read this all right now but it looks very interesting! As far as height goes, you might be interested in what Roman Sadovsky said about jumping quads when you're tall ( at 6' 1" , Roman's probably one of the tallest men doing quads in FS these days). He said that the taller you get, the more perfect your technique has to be, because if a jump goes wrong in mid air, it becomes nearly impossible to save the landing. Basically, you have less of a margin for landing off-balance, because if you do, the forces on your legs and feet are harder to overcome because of the length of the limbs. Yuzu's 5'8", so he's tallish for a figure skater, but his whole body is narrow so he probably has a better sense of balance, and that probably helps him. So I wonder if his height is an advantage or a disadvantage.

If It Wasn't for Yuzuru, I'd Never Have....

...and I wouldn't be dabbling in the exciting world of graphic design, either... I love how Yuzu is able to inspire so much creativity in all the rest of us -
@PoohandYuzu you finally got to see him skate with your own eyes!!! I'm so pleased and excited for you!
-
Yes he is, I think. The height he gets on that flying sit spin! I wonder what his standing jump stats are...

Roman works hard at responding to people - he gives out YouTube hearts pretty generously, I've gotten a couple.

Brought to you by the people who wrote "Blame Canada"...

Boitano was never the sharpest tool in the shed but this sounds so dumb.

Word of advice - take that particular translator's work with a grain of salt.

Plushy has a profoundly unique idea of suitable father-son activities. But I think he's a good dad.
