I really enjoy that there are so many Yuzuversaries..... To pass the time we should make up some more things to commemorate. Suggestions for the upcoming months: 5th anniversary of the first (only) documented 4Lo-3A (April 19) 1st anniversary of the day he did a somersault off-stage at FaOI 1st Anniversary of the premiere of Masquerade (May 24) 1st Anniversary of the time he trolled the whole arena who thought they were getting Masquerade by premiering Crystal Memories instead (May 25) 1st Anniversary of the Welcome Back Quad Lutz (June 7-8?) 2nd Anniversary of the Pooh ears headband struggle (a.k.a. Poohzuversary)

Satomi's talent is incredible. Of all the costumes she's made, I was most blown away by the close-ups of Requiem when I first saw them, though Requiem has never been one of my favourites. The workmanship and creativity that went into making beads and embroidery resemble seafoam and ocean waves is amazing. Like Origin 1.0, I don't think the real beauty of it completely comes through in action shots because it's just so detailed.

Kurt Browning once commented that he played catch with Yuzu and Yuzu had quite an arm on him because of his dad's baseball experience (he was surprised!). The most Yuzu-like thing I've ever done: uhhhhh, I admit, I had mushroom hair in elementary school because I saw someone else who had it and wanted it the same. (It wasn't Plushenko.) I also earlier today stuffed a lot of milk chocolate in my mouth. Otherwise I am totally unlike the Chaos Lord.

I would like to know what other music she's given him.....

The funny but also lovely thing about TAT's comments (and Yuzu's skating) is, depending on when the interview happened (because she doesn't talk specifically about the cancellation so it might have been earlier, and just released now) she could be talking about Chopin or talking about Otonal, and it would still be accurate either way. We know she was on her feet for Otonal, though not on her knees, because then she wouldn't have been able to see it as well.

I've never seen this before. Wow. Wow. I like the layout better with a 4S (flows better), but that's a 113+ program, done in the spring on an ice show rink..... I see now why Brian said he was ready for the Olympics by the summer and was concerned that it was too early.

Maybe it was a last-minute edit based on the engagement and numbers on their Yuzu interview. Make the men's replay an EVENT. Separate day, Hanyu-heavy advertising, throw in a Sochi replay with dramatic Patrick vs. Yuzu showdown feat. shady Chiddy interview soundbites, include all the short programs for good measure, re-run every CBC post-skate interview Yuzu has ever done, and get Tracy on video chat for an exclusive. /wishfulthinking

I watched to the beginning of pairs and then stopped.....no men? Very strange. I thought at least they would show Patrick, especially since they even took the time to show Gabby's disaster skate, which seemed a bit cruel.

For anybody who gets the CBC, they're doing a 3-hour replay of 2018 Olympic figure skating (not specified which events but I imagine Yuzu's programs will be shown if they're doing highlights) this Saturday from 3 pm to 6 pm Eastern, to replace the Worlds coverage that was supposed to go there, I imagine. It isn't as if you can't just watch the programs you like online any time, but there's something fun about it airing on TV, for Muggle family members to be forced to witness and be converted.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, Scott Russell had some nice comments about Yuzu in the Facebook livestream he did with PJ Kwong last year. He is truly a big old Fanyu. Start at around 30:18 for the question he's responding to (what are your favourite performances by Ontario skaters -- he decides to include Yuzu at the end as an Ontario skater). You can stop at 34:38 if you don't care to hear some aggravating Saitama/~RIVALRY~ narrative though.

Just for a bit of happiness on a sad day today, I've transcribed Camden's comments below for anyone who wants to copy-paste translate. (Just edited out most of the times he said 'like' excessively. xD) Interviewer 1: I have to imagine it's probably a little bit of a confidence-booster to hear Yuzuru Hanyu compliment your triple Axel. Camden: Yeah! [laugh] Oh my gosh, I remember, first off, after that short, I was on top of the Moon. I was like, "Wow, I just scored 89 points in my first senior Grand Prix! I don't know what to do with my life." And then next thing you know, I have [the] conference and I'm sitting next to someone that - I remember when I was Juvenile, watching him at a Grand Prix Final, win. And I'm sitting next to him and I'm in second place - of course there was like a 15-point gap because he is God - [laugh] But it was like, I'm in the same room with him, in a conference with him, I'm sitting next to someone I looked up to, and just hearing that he respected me to some extent was - it was mind-boggling. And seeing him again at Four Continents, it was good to see him because I felt less of a fanboy and more of a friend to him, because since after Canada he's kind of been really nice to me and I feel more comfortable with him. Like at events I can see him, and - first thing we did at Korea was give each other a hug and say "Hi, how are you," and it was just like, I still feel like a fanboy but I feel [like] more of a friend. And, I remember at the banquet at Four Continents everyone was like "Oh, Hanyu, photo, photo, photo!" But he went out of his way to come up to me and say hi to me, and he took out his iPod and took a selfie with me, and he's trying to find the best [indistinct]. And I was like "Waaaaaaa!!!" I'm crying on the inside, low-key. But he wanted a selfie with me. I was just like, "Wow. This is a class act. Like, this man is a man of class." Interviewer 1: I feel like you should take that and just remember that, and now you have it on record as well for next time you feel like a failure, 'cause [Camden: Yeah!] you're wrong. You're very wrong. Interviewer 2: It's so hard to remember the good things, isn't it. I think we all struggle with that, right? Camden: Exactly. Yup, yup, exactly.

The CBC interview is lovely and made me cry. Thanks to Scott Russell for touching on some things that rarely get a mention in English media pieces about Yuzu. Thanks to Yuzu for his candor and for being him.

In case MR. LURKER is lurking and he or anyone else needs some entertainment/inspiration. "The Lark" -- listen all the way through! It's not unlike Chopin's Ballade in that it has a repeating motif and builds and builds to a dramatic crescendo. The ending that shifts into a hopeful major key sets it apart. You can envision the lark soaring away into a peaceful sky. As far as I can see, it's been used by Charlotte Vandersarren (BEL) as a SP but I can't find a video.

He may as well be stuck where he is in Toronto not being able to train, vs. risking a long trip and virus exposure just to be stuck in Sendai not being able to train. I can't see any ice shows going on as scheduled in the current climate, and I can't see any of his sponsors requiring him to come to Japan right now. So stay inside, stay healthy and play Pokemon, Yuzu

I recall that interview, unless it's a different one. I saw it translated as 10 out of 10 he asked said Nathan was the top men's skater in the world based on his results, but I don't think it had to do with the award. The way Zakarian talks about Yuzu fits the parameters of the award better: how good Yuzu is at attracting people and garnering media attention, how he has star quality, how the managers of skating shows wish Yuzu good health because he brings in so much revenue and publicity. Without a doubt the most literally valuable skater with the most media coverage and fan engagement is Mr. Hanyuconomy. I don't even think Nathan would crack the top 10 in that regard. It would be mostly Japanese and Russian skaters plus Sui/Han and P/C.

Yuzu will get the MVP (MVS?) award, no doubt. Even the ISU knows it would be completely indefensible and laughable if he didn't, and ultimately, unlike competition results, these awards are meaningless on a sporting level, so they can gain some Fanyu brownie points for free without sacrificing anything ("why are you still complaining about his scoring? Remember, we gave him an award to show how much we appreciate him!"). He's probably won all the other ones he was up for, based on fan engagement, but they'll use their jury prerogative to redistribute those so it isn't completely lopsided and the chosen feds are represented to their satisfaction. Anna S. for costume, Nathan for program.

I'm less concerned about people potentially catching the virus in Canada (there's only one diagnosed case in Montreal so far, I believe, so chances are low) and more worried about a huge international gathering causing it to *take off* in Canada. Almost 200 athletes, their teams, officials, all the workers and volunteers, media from each country, and space in the Bell Centre for 21,000. Not all of that space will be filled but it's still a lot of people and a lot of unknowns. If they cancelled Worlds, I would say wow, probably the first smart decision the ISU has made all season. Cautious, but smart. But we'll see what happens. They're obviously sinking more money than usual into this event and they won't want to lose it.

Yuzuru Hanyu, one (1) minute after retirement: HE'S WAVING HIS ARMS AROUND TO FOOL YOU INTO THINKING HIS FEET ARE DOING SOMETHING. BUT IS THERE A PROGRAM THERE? NO. WHY ARE THESE LITTLE GIRLS SKATING TO PROSTITUTE SONGS? SOMEBODY CALL THE POLICE, I'D LIKE TO REPORT SOME MISSING GOE. THIS IS JUST A BUNCH OF TRANSITIONS IN SEARCH OF A POINT. YOU'RE SKATING TO LES MISERABLES WHY DON'T YOU LOOK LE MISERABLE? THAT SPIN TRAVELLED SO FAR I HOPE THEY FLEW ANA. THE POINT OF A JUMP IS TO DO IT IN THE AIR, OTHERWISE IT'S A SPIN. HEY USFSA ARE YOU THE PIXAR MOVIE 'UP' BECAUSE YOU SURE ARE FOND OF INFLATING THINGS

I am partway into MwW and I'm enjoying it SO MUCH. Great arrangements, great performers, and the whole concept of celebrating and appreciating the music is so perfectly in line with Yuzu's priorities as a performer and an artist. I'm also surprised to be discovering a new appreciation for programs of Yuzu's that I maybe didn't care as much for before. NDP isn't his best free, but this performance made me really emotional and I wasn't expecting it!

I take everything as a hint from the Troll King now, so I will just assume that this rock Vivaldi at the beginning will be his free program next season.

Media: YUZU???!?!? WAT???!??! Yuzu: Oh, that was just a website error, hahaha. I'm not skating Ballade or Seimei. Media: oh ok Yuzu: *skates White Legend and Zig*
