Please go back to the not saying anything about Yuzu under pain of death strategy from the Olympics, Brian. Every time I read an interview from him lately I find myself thinking "this is so unhelpful."

CONFIRMED: If Yuzu ever went to a house party, he would be the person who spends the whole time in the other room playing with the host's pets and only sneaking out to get food.

I don't expect to hear Yuzu a great deal on this Australian show especially seeing as he's listed last. I think they'll interview Brendan and Jackie for the bulk of it, maybe interviewed Tracy at a competition and got Yuzu for a couple of questions at the same competition. Probably none of it will be live and some of it will involve 1) 10 min of discussion of Poohs, 2) Jackie being very complimentary and nice toward Yuzu himself but throwing his whole fandom under the bus as internet bullies, 3) selective editing of fan interviews to make them look shallow and obsessive. (I have so much faith in English speaking media re: Yuzuru, as you can see. 😆)

He might be able to, but his flip is historically his weakest triple. He used to have a lip (a Lutz edge on his flip) and he only managed to correct it I think in 2014, which was already a small miracle. It's better now, to the extent that he can do that 4T-3F, but his inside edge is still not the deepest and making it more difficult by turning into a quad might result in an unclear edge or wrong edge call (for Yuzu it would undoubtedly be the latter because he isn't given any leeway) and a loss of points. So maybe he can do one but he doesn't want to put it into competition if it won't be 100% clear, out of steps, with short preparation, done to the music..... XD

The new Yuzu hashtag events every week are so delightful. I don't think anything will ever top the Badly Taken Photos Of Yuzuru Hanyu contest but Wild/Baby is certainly up there.

I kind of wish all Fanyus as a community would learn to relax a little and ignore things that are beneath us and, more importantly, beneath Yuzu. The majority of people are not overreacting, but it seems to be happening more and more lately. Standing up for meaningful things like fair judgment and social justice is important but some individuals are also so fast to pounce on takes and people that aren't even worth engaging with, much of which is just trolling, and then it gets whipped into a frenzy of hurt feelings and outrage. And all that happens in response is the provoking person feeling smug that they were able to get such a reaction, and everyone else, including journalists with wide readership, using it as ammo for their patronizing "Hanyu fans are crazy/bullies/on a hair trigger/have tunnel vision and can't hear any criticism" argument. Remember, the best counterattack is muting, blocking, not giving clicks, moving on -- the most aggravating thing to an ignorant person is their ignorant opinion itself being completely ignored!

I wouldn't advise a Speedo for Yuzuru, because they're fundamentally hilarious, but to be perfectly frank, nature has blessed him with 4A-birthing hips and I have no doubt he would carry a Speedo off fetchingly if forced to don one.

Maybe Yuzuru doesn't want them to, because it would look like he himself is complaining. We know he has people waiting eagerly for any reason to attack his character and call him a whiner, and a fed that probably won't do anything to back him up if he chooses to open himself up to criticism. He is the kind of athlete who would not want his integrity called into question in any way, even if the result is a loss. However, TCC does actually sometimes call things out in a roundabout way, via TSL's TCC mole Doug Haw. If Doug is on, or if the guys say "we got a bunch of texts from Doug Haw after the men's event and....." pay attention to what Doug will and won't say re: Yuzu, his training and coaches, and his rivals. Sometimes what Doug says is what Brian wants to say.

Brian has no PR game whatsoever. Whether it's about Yuzu or any other skater, every time he says something he should know not to say to people he should know not to say it to because he should know by now it will blow up and cause drama, my side-eye gets stronger.

Yes. He needs to practice his layout and up his competitive stamina and it would be relatively low stress because it's unlikely Nathan will go - it's all the way over in Korea and early Feb is right in the middle of his term. But I think it also depends on the other guys' showings at JPN Nats and who makes the Worlds team. If god forbid Shoma doesn't do well and is left off the Worlds roster (unlikely but possible) they could reserve 4CC for him and not want to send Yuzu as competition.

I raised my eyebrows at this quote, but OP added that Raf was actually talking about YUZU'S QUAD LUTZES and smiled at him. As in, Yuzu didn't manage the Lz in that runthrough but Raf said he'd already seen Yuzu do good ones before. So don't worry, Raf is not an ass all the time.
