Maybe this should be in fanart, but I was looking at all the amabie posts on twitter (the Japanese yokai mermaid who is meant to help against disease if you show a picture of her... and this came up, and I love it.

To absolutely no one's surprise, Yuzu romped it home... but I just wanted to share the url for one of the voters' gif of Yuzu because it is so so so beautiful.

I also love how much importance Yuzuru places on giving to the audience - hearing how his skating makes them happy, meeting their expectations - as he has said in other interviews. Probably because of his unique position (only Yuna could match it, and her relationship with Korea doesn't have the sheer complexity of emotion, tears, tragedy and hope that Yuzu has taken on for Japan), his skating is more giving and has that extra depth of meaning, and he clearly knows and treasures it. Though Scott didn't dwell on it, you can tell he is also aware of how special Yuzu is as a person to Japan, as well as a skater and champion.

I do hope he gets to skate in China soon, the Chinese fans deserve it (not sure about COC, but that could be just a lingering frisson from 2014. Maybe he'll see it as another curse to be broken)

I love these pictures, reminding me that he just might be coming to Australia next year... and I could be there.

The Japanese press will probably ask him for his thoughts quickly enough... and he will be as tactful as he always is.

He'll have to think up more deathless revelations like "I like cats".....

Let's start thinking of programs he can do with a green costume (though I will now go back to wishing and hoping for the Tokyo Ghoul soundtrack, I can't help it...)

That would be a nice fillip to what has been a mixed season - some really tough moments for our young man, but some glorious highs, kate Canada and the 4CC and his new SP world record....

I can't see how they could do it then - and it would be somewhat ridiculous to even try. The skaters would be beyond exhausted, I hope if the ISU did go that way a lot of the top ones, those IN the GP series, would decline to do both.

I don't think he will retire without a serious tilt at the 4A, so really believe we will see him again next year, hopefully with two new programs that he feels are really, perfectly right for him. The ice shows are up in the air, as are the Tokyo Olympics (and I would bet a pound to a penny they intended to use Yuzu in the opening celebrations, they'd be mad not to)

That would make me cry. That would make most of Japan cry.
