If that happens..... there won't be enough popcorn in the world. Especially as Tutberidze is overseas, isn't she? - and even if she came home tomorrow, would need to go into quarantine and not straight to her club to sort things out...

God, do they love him or what? I think this is what the western fans and skating authorities don't get (or don't want to), they expected Nathan and even Shoma to have the same draw power for fans, maybe not in Japan for Nathan but worldwide. And it's just not happening, and NA fans can't understand why.

Neither did Brian before Yuna. I mean, I suspect all of the 3A will be surpassed before Beijing, but it was really not a surprise that the Sambo rink got too small for the three of them as we jit half-way through the quad. Yuzu and Javi were a special case, rivals sharing a coach almost never works out in the end.

While it's a massive gamble for Trusova, it occurs to me that the timing... does echo our own hero in 2012. Half way through that quad, two years before Sochi, he switched coaches and reaction was dismay, doom and gloom. It's now 2020, two years before Beijing. Of course the cases are very different in other ways - Yuzu was the baby in his field, Namami was nothing like as Big A Name Coach as Eteri - but fora full year, everyone was predicting he was washed up nefore he started. I am NOT a fan of Trusova, she's one of the three skaters I actively dislike on the ice, but I can't believe anyone really thought that, with limited gold on offer and only one chance looming for OGM, the 3A wouldn't crack as one pulled ahead...

The Russian Tutberidze fans will go nuts if one or more leave... FS is gonna need a LOT of popcorn On the other hand, this will certainly take the heat off Evgenia, if she is sensible and lays low now.

We know he likes cats and bees, what other creatures could be on his "okay to release information" list? (I hold out hope for 4CC next year, because if Yuzu comes to Australia not only will I do everything I can to get there, but someone will ensure he meets and cuddles koalas - it's pretty mandatory for visitors - and Yuzu+koala is adorability overload the world needs....)

Several sports stars (footballers, young and brawny and not exactly endowed with common sense for the most part) have been outed by the media here for breaking actual rules - they'll be fined by both the police and their clubsm whether it goes further is anyone's guess. We do tend to forget that our heroes, of any stripe, are not necessarily as bright as we'd like them to be. In the end, Evgenia's done it, can't undo it, doesn't appear to regret it. Whether or not she ends up suffering any loss of Japanese fans/income is in the hands of Japanese fans, and neither she nor anyone outside Japan will know until the world reopens... I'm going to leave it there now.

Her twitter fans are NOT helping - not content with dragging Yuzu, one of the most loved figures in Japan, they have now brought in Alina... The whole thing was ill-judged, I can only hope whatever ice she found proves worth it.

As someone who has a long history in the shallows of different media fandoms and who remembers (didn;t touch, just watched with popcorn) the real people fic wars for half a dozen, I agree, though I doubt any skating RPF is like some of them.... But I wouldn't be surprised if Yuzu does inspire writers both pro and fan. especially in Asia, for years to come as he does artists and musicians.
