Things I did not know I needed wanted to see :headdesk2:

Kyuudo is awesome. You focus on form and energy; you move slowly but with intent. I think he'd find it rewarding, and it is a very Japanese art. But of course vastly different than skating.  Although discipline is discipline   (Note: I actually know what I'm talking about a little bit because I've done it and received a certificate. But ages ago, so I forgot a lot. But I'm still kinda proud of it so please let me brag a little.)  Oh, and yes he'd look good in hakama.

  2. @SuzyQ@Erin@Nutmeg  Thank you for the help in finding Mr Good Boy (Amazing Boy). I enjoyed watching the entire video. His voice is that deep.? Lol

He really did have the benefit of good senpai, they seem like good men.

Also, SuzyQ, thanks for providing the translation in Japanese and Romaji... I could get a better sense of the nuance. “いい子? “ *makes face*

Mr Hanyu is younger than me so I will always associate him with being an Amazing Boy. (Helps that he is baby faced.):snpeace:

@icecreamyaren’t dogs the best? I’m glad you have good memories!

    You are all Amazing Satellites!!!

  3. Having worked hard and attained Tissue Box status (yay!), I have a request: I’ve heard that there may be a clip where Coach Orser calls Mr H “amazing “ and then Mr H says he’s an “amazing boy.” I always thought that was cute  and now a bit poignant, because he’s no longer a boy. お願いします

Honestly, as someone who was very sheltered until the age of 26 (although I think in some ways, Yuzu is more independent than I ever was in that period) and who was forced to become independent when my mother died, I really hope Yuzu goes independent while it's still a choice. Also, a lot of people think of it just in terms of money and cooking and cleaning etc. That's not it at all. With enough money, he can hire a maid to do all of that for him for the rest of his life. (It's funny how it always ends up him I give an example, but Yoshiki is 52 years old, has been living away from home since he was 18 and he can't even crack an egg.) The sheltering one gets from having one's mother take care of everything so they can focus on school or, like in Yuzu's case, skating as well, is a lot more than that. It's psychological as well. In many ways, the mother is a shield between the real world and the child. It's not even something specific, but losing that shield can make one feel completely lost. I went through severe anxiety and it took me a long time to learn to be independent. And I'm not even fully so, by normal people standards, because I still live with my father. Of course, there are people whose parents live until very old age, and Yuzu's parents are Japanese, so very likely to do so. I don't wish what happened to me to happen to anyone, ever, let alone someone I like. But from my own experience, being sheltered by one's mother is about a lot more than cooking and cleaning and providing financial security. And because I know how hard it was for me to suddenly lose that shelter, I hope Yuzu can more slowly and on his own terms step away from it.

Like @liv said, it made perfect sense while he was gunning for the second gold. Now, it would make sense if he would slowly take steps to move away from it. Especially since he will probably need to start growing more as a person as well. I adore Yuzu, but aside from his obvious mental maturity - as revealed by his interviews and comments - he still seems to be a child in many ways. His life seems to have been only skating, studying, then gaming and music for relaxation. And like I said, it made sense, and I'm sure it played a big part in his success. But he'll probably need to move along at some point. Whether that point is now or not is up to him, of course. And his family. And maybe it'll never come. And that's fine, too. It's his life, not mine. It also won't affect how I think of him, not as a skater, not as a person mature beyond his years, in many ways. But an independent Yuzu who fully takes care of himself would add an extra layer of cool for me, to be honest. lol (I also tend to think he would be just fine at cooking if he really went for it. I tend to think anyone can be a decent cook if they try and follow instructions. I hate cooking and don't think I'm any super talent, but I still managed. And Yuzu is much more disciplined and ambitious, so I'm sure he'd do fine. lol)

@KatjaTheraI hear you: my brother in law has always lived with my mother in law  and so she took care of him (laundry, cooking, etc) and so he really did not have to do much at home except work, eat and sleep. [LOL I think it's a variation of the salaryman adage that there are three words a salaryman says to his wife when he comes home late: "Meshi, furo, neru (food, bath, bed)] Anyhow, she has become more frail  and now, as a grown man, he has had to learn to do his laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. And believe me, it has not been easy.  So I can see why you think it's a good idea to become independent as a choice and not because of an incident. This includes the psychological aspect. It is kind of you to share your perspective and experience. :)

  5. Yuzuru facing the crowd: “Oh look! They gave me a rice cooker.”

Turning towards board: “They think I have time to cook?” *eyeroll*”

lol I just really wanted to use this, his face is sweet/salty.

Re tossing a rice cooker onto the ice for Yuzuru: as per icecreamy above, I agree you will need a lot of bubble wrap and foam.

And someone standing near the rinkside - or someone who is good at shotput! And be very careful to not hit anyone when you throw it (unlike those Poohs that have been seen to land on Yuzuru's head, or fly near it). Or you could use something like a fishing rod, and lower it down to him in the K&C area? :smiley-laughing021: Might be safer, and become a moment of posterity on TV!

So yea, it's doable if not necessarily practical or standard!

*edited since icecreamy beat me to it*

Yeah a thrown wrapped rice cooker would be like a cannonball, probably end up knocking out a Pooh-gathering child. Aren’t there a lot of STEM types here? Maybe they could design some sort of portable parachute device. So it can land gently upon the ice. :surprised:

  7. Well, Mr Hanyu is also a university student so having his mom around allows him to focus on his two main subjects, skating and education, which is an important family value.

These new new rice cookers are amazing. Mine serenades me with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when I turn it on.

Javi is such a sweet person ! Very kind hearted ! Yuzu ‘s face is so soft listening to him . It is such a beautiful friendship even they don’t socialize outside of the rink . The way they root for each other , pushing each other to work harder and very supportive and genuinely cheer on each other ... very precious and great sportsmanship !

    :sadPooh::tumblr_inline_n0o1ffHUs91qid2nw:

    Not “feel like to cry”

    He did cry !

Thank you @kaerb for all the wonderful speed translation !

Only Javier and Yuzuru know what experiences they went through together. I think that bonds you for life—  no one else knows. They will always have an understanding. I am blessed to have friends like that, too.  :snonegai:

  9. Forgive this TV ignoramus, but how does one see the upcoming ice shows on TV Asahi, and for that matter, other broadcasts? Would I have to order satellite TV? Is there a secret streaming pirated channel I could watch?  Any assistance much appreciated. お願いします。。

Im a new fan but this seems like a very productive dry season. :party2:

Wow that video of Seimei in UA is AMAZING. :tumblr_inline_ncmifiE3IT1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmifiE3IT1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmifiE3IT1rpglid:

UA really highlights his form - strong, agile and delicate. (Yes, very manga-like... I can't believe such proportions exist!) His axis is so thin when he jumps!

Now I really wish that Yuzu would do a super slim-fit costume for next season.

@wingman  I know what you mean, his proportions are amazing. Can someone make a “Please wear UA for competitions” banner? お願い します

Yeah but imagine how hard must it be to try and practice when... Yuzuru Hanyu is skating Seimei in the same rink... like... talk about pressure...

Was it the debut of the program? He looked very serious.

    Go on, Yuzu, hurt em...

:muahaha:On a serious note, at 1:45 that little jump he does is just amazing , he’s like a sprite. Love.It.

!!!  Now you're REALLY making me feel old! Yeah, wouldn't it have been nice to grow up in a time when youthful fashion didn't make you want to retch?! Remember the giant orange, yellow, and puke green flowers they draped walls and people and couches and floors and cars in?!  I barely survived. I did it by rebelling into alternative rock, dressing in black and purple, and immersing myself in books so I didn't have to look around. If there had been a Yuzu back then... wow. Yeah, I'm jealous of today's youth for that, but we DID have David Bowie, and he was fucking beautiful -- even if he DID sometimes wear flowery orange and green bell-bottoms (sticks her finger down her throat.)

I think I missed the flowers but BOrsers red pantsuit/uniform/competitive wetsuit...yeah. Bring on Duran Duran. Yuzuru’s floppy sleeves would fit right in.

  14. Not sure if this is the correct place to ask but on the second  “page” of this post Mr H is very animatedly talking about something, and I get a few words but the rest flies by (argh). Could someone help me out? As a bonus there are a couple nice pics of him  after the second page. :Strawberry:

To me, Yuzu is just a little boy. I haze ZERO romantic interest in him and I'm completely uninterested in him sexually. I have no fantasies about him; in fact, at my age, that would seem creepy... AND YET... even i can't stop looking at him. He is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen, even when he's standing still; but put him on the ice and I'm... crying just THINKING of him on the ice... I mean literally - tears are pouring down my face right now... can't finish this thought...

@ToniProbably OT: I’m pretty sure I’m an “auntie” on this site and the young men “back in my day” looked like, well, BOrser iin 1988, replete with mullet hairdos and pleather pants. To me Mr Hanyu shines like a gem because I  had to live through that mess of a fashion era (I got a lot of kuyashii about that) and now I see this amazing person just being himself and he’s lovely and in the flower of his youth, and I’m all jealous. Lol.

he looks gorgeous, but this photo seems like a manip tbh

I wonder what he would had done if he hadn't found skating. I can see a math or economics teacher who sponsors the baseball team on the side. (OT: Deep respect to Japanese teachers who have to be some of the hardest working people you'd ever wish would take a long vacation.)

  17. Duuuuuuuuuuudes! How do I make this my signatuuuuurrreeeee? Git it Yuzu! *sound on*

(If I’m being inappropriate just let me know and I’ll :slinkaway:.  But I think it’s fun seeing him rock out a bit.)

  18. Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply to my question about the 2015 season. I can see the care you put into your responses. Seems like it was a year of “Oh geeze, what NOW?” What’s the saying? “From the fire comes the sword”?  *flashback of Seimei with lightsabers vid*  :thanks:

  19. Can someone tell me concisely or point me in the direction of something as to why 2015 was such a tough year? I get bits and pieces but I feel like I’m missing the whole picture.

(Am I being too demanding? If so I’ll just :slinkaway:)

    :thanks:
