  1. I finally got the SEIMEI movies in decent quality and can now see the patterns on the costumes. They're gorgeous! Caught myself paying more attention to the costumes than the rest of the first movie last night. That said, I would love something like the Amano artwork sleeves with the red touches. *heart*
  2. Hhhmmm... I was gonna reply to your other long message, but this bit is actually the most compelling to me. Those are probably the main reasons why he's sticking with Chopin. There does seem to be a trend there. I'm not gonna lie: I don't like the idea of him doing 'the same thing' again, and I kind of think if it were any other skater doing this 3.0 thing, he/she would be getting a lot of criticism (hence the lazy argument, that still is what it feels like to me. I know the man isn't lazy, anything but, but also, if I were a casual TV viewer, watching the Olys, and this commentator goes, "He is reusing the same program for a third year", oh, I'd probably not be going, "Oh, that is so smart of him!" but going "Gee, couldn't even be bothered to come up with something new for the biggest competition of the sports"). However, fortunately I don't need to be convinced that he can manage to pull of something spectacular with this program, because I have enough trust in the guy that he knows what's possible. I trusted him to pull off a spectacular FS in Helsinki, and that didn't turn out too badly.
  3. Quoted for truth. I came into figure skating fandom very, very slowly. I just sort of gradually started watching more and more, and not because of a single specific skater. But the programs themselves: the skating, the costumes, the music (the jumps not all that much, and lately I could care less). But this sport... I dunno. First the ISU wants to make them shorter (after the Olys season, right?). That is not a good thing to me. And There is So Much Music in this world. Repeating programs just comes across as lazy to me. Doing a program three times? Sorry Yuzu, but that doesn't earn you any brownie points from me. Unless maybe you pull out some blindingly-awesome new costume...
  4. Nice! But I'd settle for Worlds 2020, as I've completely convinced myself it's gonna get assigned to Rotterdam. And at the very, very least, I don't see Hanyu quit before Worlds 2019 in Japan. It's just not gonna happen. Just like I cannot see him and/or Shoma not going to Worlds 2018. I don't really think it's entirely up to them to decide, anyway...
  5. Because I am a fan. For my own joy. Not for his (he doesn't know I exist, and I'm happy to keep it that way). So my joy comes from getting new programs every year, seeing new things, hearing different music. I'm sure he and his team have their reasons for going with a Chopin 3.0 and I may end up liking it, but right now, I am very disappointed I'm not getting to see a new SP.... as I've been disappointed with Shoma sticking with his, and Boyang... oh wait, I really dig the Spidey. And, okay, hey, I'm a classical pianist, I dig Chopin, too, so I'll survive.
  6. Predicting the correct men's top three at Worlds was a piece of cake compared to this. Did anyone see Russia GP coming and a Chopin 3.0 SP on top of that? Crazy, crazy day. *shakes head and wanders off to dream about an impossible trip to Moscow* <--- actually impossible, I already have too many other plans for the autumn, sigh.
  7. He *has* to come to Milan. I have about 17-18 (lost count) Pooh bear stuffed toys I need to get rid of, and since I don't see myself going to Moscow just quite yet... *le sigh*
  8. Quoted for probable truth. I feel the same way. It feels very, very risky.
  9. Ah right, my mind's all confuzzled today with everything. Thanks! As a classically-schooled pianist, I cannot be too unhappy about a Chopin repeat. That program is brilliant. But I would have prefered something new.
  10. So, what, he is keeping his SP? I mean, returning to his old SP? *trying to make sense of everything*
  11. I cannot handle the extra excitement today. I'm already nerve-wrecked over trying to buy some Disney shoes (sorry, not Pooh bear) Yes, I'm a sad person, but they're really uber-limited collection, so... ;-) But the GP thing wasn't supposed to be for another month, and with FoI going on, my mind's ready to explode! This GP thing had better be a joke...
  12. I have no idea what it is about, but just the above makes me excited beyond words. I think I desperately need this in my life, like yesterday! edit: and there is the video?! Awesome! Wonder why it didn't show up before I posted my reply... Looks like my iphone has some issues with the layout of the pages.
  13. There can be a difference between seeing someone for the first time and actually becoming a fan fan. I've been curious to see how my journey to Hanyu-fandom came to be. Fortunately, I have historic material (ha) lying around to help me. I've been keeping a journal for a Very Long Time, and following are actually straight, unedited quotes. The first time I ever mention Hanyu: December 5, 2009. Man, so I *did* actually know he was coming to The Hague. I didn't know that I was aware of that competition, and that this Hanyu guy that I apparently already liked then would show up, until now. I'm astonished, and absolutely MAD at myself. For some unfathomable reason, I never actually went to that Junior Worlds competition, there's not even a single mention about anything Juniors related until a few years later. I have no idea why. Knowing myself, I probably just completely forgot about that Worlds competition because it was "just" Juniors for me back then. (Yeah, I've wisened up since then.) The really freaky thing is that the next time I mention him is November 29, 2011 (!). Nothing in the 2010 season at all... I haven't checked out his wiki, I'm guessing maybe it's because he went senior then? and there were too many other good Japanese, so he didn't show up in the big competitions or just didn't have any results worth mentioning (which I guess would definitely mean I wasn't a proper fan yet). November 29, 2011. December 11, 2011. Short and to the point: I've never liked Patrick Chan. Don't shoot me, nothing personal against the guy, it's probably just a very basic matter of "He always won against my sweet Japanese boyz." :hammer: March 31, 2012 (Worlds) Boy, I did have it in for poor Patrick! and I won't kid myself by thinking I was anything like a real Hanyu fan. (after the FS) October 28, 2012 December 2, 2012 December 13, 2012 December 23, 2012 February 10, 2013 Poor Patrick Chan... ;-) November 17, 2013 And here we are, finally! December 5, 2013 (December 6) So... I guess all this proves is that I am just a sad woman who doesn't really become a fan until someone is a really good skater? :rofl2: Hey, it's a good thing: I just don't want to feel bad all the time when I watch figure skating because my favorites aren't any good and keep losing all the time. I was a fan before Sochi, anyway, but really when I became a proper actual Yuzu die-hard fangal... sometime in the 2013 season, I guess! I just *liked* the guy a lot longer than that.
  14. I just attended a Final Fantasy (Distant Worlds) concert, and a few weeks ago the Kingdom Hearts equivalent. Both JRPG series have so much fine music, I would absolutely love to see a program with one or more pieces from these (or other JRPG) series, possibly arranged for orchestra. Or something Star Wars, just because we got cheated out of Leia's theme at Worlds. And it's May the Fourth be with you, so naturally I have to throw in a rec for that. :-)
