  1. If our axel overlord Yuzu has 5% completion of 4A, Idk if anyone else can come close to that. IMO the biggest problem is the height, I saw Dima's attempts, and in all of them, he could not get enough height to come anywhere close to even 4 revolutions? (edit: seems like he is 270 degrees underrotated). Like he's still mid-rotation when both his feet hit the ice, imagine doing a quad where the ice needs to be 20cm below surface level for you to land it, that's my impression of his 4A. Here's his last attempt https://www.fsrussia.ru/results/1718/cor1718/MMC__Scores.pdf he's no. 5 Here's the video (click next)
  2. the only excuse I could think of for Helsinki is that they made the rink in a rush, apparently you have to spray water on ice for 1mm, let it harden, then do it again till it hits 5cm. GPF Marseilles was just bad planning in general lol, should see the list of mishaps haha.
  3. From here I read that the ice conditions made it difficult to implement edge jumps. Does anyone knows what this means? Too rough? Rink creation too rushed? Impurities? What's so special about edge jumps for the conditions to affect it? Just wondering if anyone who skates can illustrate the situation. Also why though. Like I thought they have a standard to meet for the ice, seems unfair that the ice made so many ladies fall during their event.
  4. A more complete translation is out now. Some excerpts Yuzuru will likely attempt 4A at the World Championships “At ACI, Yuzuru won the competition, but he didn’t skate well. This set a fire to his motivation to achieve clean skates and win, so he’s put aside 4A for now. Now he needs to prepare for CoR in 2 weeks, followed by GPF, and Japanese Nationals. He will resume training for 4A in January 2019. He says his 4A is at 5% of what it needs to be. ‘If I can get it up to 20%, maybe I can do it.’ The author thinks that since Hanyu intends tends to skip 4CC, it’s likely that he will attempt the 4A at World Championships. There will be enough time to prepare for this competition, which is an appropriate stage to attempt this jump that nobody has landed.” Also: maximum kuyashii -->
  5. He doesn't need to haha, i can't get over how out of all people, he specifically chose the top 2 medalist of men's pair skating to lift him up! (shows that he paid attention too lol I wouldn't have remembered) As long as it's not Han Cong (sorry the height, only Wenjing for you) he just needs to pay attention to who won lmao.
  6. perks of being a Yuzu fan, everyone immediately knows what you want
  7. Need to ask the fan who shared a plane with him haha. I heard that people were surprised to find him on an intra-EU plane so it's either transit or he found a place to stay over for a while. Knowing how he usually arrives 1 day before official practice (and get sick from plane / dirty hotels lol) he really might've went back. idk why don't he arrive at the venue earlier though, like that fever in NHK 2017 costed so much. Not sure if he got that before or after travel though
  8. dammit so fast, I was hoping it'd be after my exams. should've checked earlier
  9. I quite like Yuzu's music taste tbh. I tried to compile a list of Yuzu's favourite music from what he indicated in the 2011? fan form and various interviews, now I have a new addition haha
  10. I have spent 72 hours on Yuzu content and I'm not done yet, there so many photos on twitter. Even the 1 month from ACI felt like a drought lol
  11. I wrote too long to give up now. I'll just leave it there, need to get it off my chest. Sorry to admins for trouble, I won't bring them in again. apologies for bringing such a sad topic here, have a soft yuzu why does this remind me so much of pooh's head sticking out under his arm
  12. Idk... IMO the worst can happen is selective information, where people who don't know anything believes it because there's no one to disprove the false info, and that's all they hear... It feels like we're turning our backs to obvious cyber bullying that perpetuates to even more people who might embrace and spread it. I mean if it happens word to word in real life, it's not like the victim will not suffer if we do not give attention to false info that gets more and more believers right...
  13. If anyone can speak Korean, please help
  14. Anyone has a video of when Yuzu hugged Junhwan during the victory ceremony? I need to see it in motion haha
  15. Damn I was thinking more of 60%. Isn't 20% still risky though? By 20% completion did he mean that he'll land the 4A 20% of the time?
  16. not again
  17. Saw a second post about Yuzu being terrified of rowdy crowds that swarm him after events. And someone just commented on tumblr that Yuzu is ungrateful for hushing his fans because they pay for it. Ugh. ****post reproduced below**** "Please respect Yuzu… I loved the experience in Helsinki, BUT I hated how some fans treat Yuzu like some kind of curiosity in a zoo. That crowd after the medal ceremony would have ripped him apart if he would have showed up. There were hundreds of people gathering in front of the VIP Lounge/entrance holding up phones even though there was nothing to see, some even filmed others people’s phone to see what was happening. It was far beyond ridiculous. How the hell should he manage to get through this crowd? (Security would have been stupid to lead him through this) I am glad he left through a backdoor, which was fairly at the entrace/exit. I saw him leave because I had to go to catch my flight (unfortunately I could not watch the Gala) he just jumped fast into a car. And he looked really frightened. I won’t forget that look on his face, it made me really sad. 😢 And even there some of the few people tried to get a picture, he was not smiling or waving or made it look like he wanted to be photographed at all. He just rushed into the car. (you can see if he expects to be photographed. You would have a Japanese media team around) Seeing this disrespectful behaviour beclouds my wonderful experience a bit. Please be respectful. He is human and deserves his privacy! Not every moment is for cameras! Please don’t make people have a reason to hate on Fanyus! " ***

  19. Does translations exist for this video? I'd like to know what Nobu is gushing about Yuzu haha! Seems like a good programme
  20. Do we have a thread that collects everything Yuzu related shown on Japanese TV?
  21. Agree. I had no idea how I managed to hold back my tears when translating this. Yuzu expressed his concern for his superior in the most thoughtful manner - he knew that Brian didn't want to talk about it, and perhaps it was not Yuzu's place, nor will it be effective for him to comfort Brian since he is not Brian's equal. Brian could've felt guilty that his grieving led people, especially his students, to be worried about him, and hide his emotions more. That's why Yuzu didn't call him out, but quietly watched Brian from afar, to give him personal space to grieve. And when the time is right, Yuzu showed that he cares for Brian, by still thinking about Brian's father weeks after, and dedicating a skate to him. When most people would've forgotten about Brian's father after a simple expression of condolence, or pretended to busy themselves in the competition when they don't know how to make Brian feel better. But Yuzu is different - he knows not to confront Brian on such a personal, sensitive matter as a student, and he knows not to sweep Brian's plight under the carpet just because it's sensitive, because Brian's father still matters to Brian, even if he didn't talk about it. Yuzu showed that what's important to Brian is important to him too, and that's probably the most touching way to show another person that you care about him as a human. I am like 15 months younger than Yuzu, and I would never have thought of such a mature way to handle others' grief. Yuzu awes me every day, when I thought he couldn't be any more wonderful, I am surprised with information others share about him. How he expressed kindness when no one is watching, how he encouraged his juniors even in private occasions. He is just too beautiful for this world. (when I am free, I might translate the rest of Team Brian haha, probably in December. From Chinese sources though, of the first book I think, of his journey to the Sochi gold. Brian once jogged with Yuzu by the Black Sea, where Yuzu told Brian that he wants to win the Sochi gold, and then win another Olympics after that. These duo is just too pure for each other, I will never shut up about how Yuzu inspires the people around him. That he learns from his coaches, and his coaches learn from him too.)
  22. I translated the whole excerpt from the Chinese source, please let me know if there's any better translations I can put in! https://yuzuru-hanyu-central.tumblr.com/post/179628174489/team-brian-translations-yuzurus-tribute-to [twitter link] Brian Orser’s father passed away on 3rd March 2017, he didn’t tell anyone about it, and continued to work at TCC as if nothing happened. “Yuzuru seemed to notice something different about me, which is quite remarkable. Usually during practice, Yuzuru is very focused on himself, paying attention to the training content, his own body, or the techniques, so during practice he wouldn’t normally talk with other skaters or rest. But at that time, Yuzuru would observe my expression and empathise with me. Yuzuru had been through the earthquake disaster in Japan, perhaps that’s why he is so sensitive to others’ loss. So at that time as I felt heavy-hearted, Yuzuru felt the same, and he’d watch me from far away as I secretly grieve/let out a sigh. At the beginning, I thought Yuzuru’s sensitivity was my own imagination, after all I was so upset that my worldview changed. More importantly, for Yuzuru and Javier, the World Championships before the Olympic Games is approaching, and our conversations would revolve around the competition. For Yuzuru, winning the title of the the Defending World Champion before the Olympics is very important, and Yuzuru really did it. I’m so proud of him. There’s nothing better than this leading to the Olympic Games. Both of them participated in the gala. Usually I’d leave early without watching the gala, but this time I watched both their performances at the rink site. Yuzuru’s exhibition is the swan-themed “Notte Stellata”. It’s choreographed by David Wilson, one of our choreographers in Team Brian, for the jumps there’s only a single axel and a triple axel. It’s done such that everyone will be able to enjoy Yuzuru’s gorgeous skating, it’s a stunning program. The program depicts a dying swan spreading its wings once again, till that day Yuzuru skated it with the image of the recovery of the disaster area in mind. That day, Yuzuru portrayed a white swan that is more beautiful and gentle than any other. Later, something surprising happened. After the performance, Yuzuru returned to the rink site, and told me “I was thinking about Brian’s father while skating”. Yuzuru performed a tribute to my late father. I was surprised that Yuzuru who usually doesn’t talk much, expressed condolence to my father with such clarity. From this program, he conveyed the message to me so that I can cheer up/pull myself together again. For me, who still haven’t gotten over my father’s death, that moment brought a very big change from the bottom of my heart. It’s been 6 years since I worked with Yuzuru as a coach and student. I thought that we understood each other and formed the strongest team, but this was the first time it made me feel that Yuzuru is actually supporting me by my side. The 2nd Olympic Games that Yuzuru will face together with me is approaching in 10 months. For the upcoming Olympic Games, I’ve resolved from the bottom of my heart, that no matter how difficult things may come in our way, I will stride forward with Yuzuru. Of course I never would’ve thought that I would experience such an epic Olympic season. Not just as a coach - as a friend, a human being, I will promise to support Yuzuru the best I can.” *** Some Weibo comments that I thought was heartfelt: "People often talk about empathy, it seemed like it's a psychological term. A person who is sensitive, would gently, silently think about you, they won't rush up to you to comfort you, but they would show their concern through their actions. Someone who doesn't make you feel smothered at all, he might really be an angel, else how would every fibre of him show such kindness and gentleness." "Those who are sensitive are often fragile, as a protect mechanism they often isolate themselves when they are sad, but never once did he ignore the distress of those around him. A twenty-plus year old person, from where did he get so much love and kindness..." Thank you @sweetwater for suggesting some translation improvements! *** My thoughts on the matter:
  23. So cute! Here they talked about the Chopin music box that Miyagi gave to Yuzu on the day of the parade. Thank you to the maker! (he's so sweet and looks like a teddy lol ^^, and his name really has a "bear" kanji in it) Apparently you can buy it here lol but I think the one engraved with Yuzu's name is sold out rip http://www.kumanodo.com/eccube/html/products/detail/480

    Otonal

Wow, apparently the twizzle+3A+twizzle Yuzu did in Otonal is even more difficult than back counter 3A! Ask: Hi! I read an ask about how you thought that the hardest jump entry and exit is a twizzle+3a+twizzle, can I ask what is it that makes it so difficult? Even more than back counter 3A? Just curious Chibura: The Twizzle is done on flat edge and when you exit the Twizzle you are not just skating on flat edge, you also have almost no speed out of it. You need an edge (aka you lean on the outside or inside) to gain speed, but with the Twizzle, there is not much speed to gain from it. The Axel jump is executed from a Forward Outside Edge and you should have speed before the jump, but as stated above, after the Twizzle you are on a flat edge without speed. So virtually Twizzle 3A means you almost jump from a standstill. By this moment you have to change your edge to prepare a huge momentum then leap yourself into the 3A. In my opinion, this is the hardest entry for the 3A. Also, Yuzuru even exists this 3A by another Twizzle, that means when he lands on the Backward Outside Edge, he has to change to a flat edge to perform Twizzle again. This needs a lot of control from his Edging skills. Btw, I wrote about the Twizzle here (in comparison with the 3-turn) https://curiouscat.me/chiburahakkai/post/493956973?1527157381
