  1. Well, there's a beautifully rendered piece of fanmade vid floating around that wonderfully pieces his Time Traveler and Requiem EXes together to this piece of music... Has anyone ever skated to Beethoven's Symphony No. 7? I hear it used a lot in soundtracks of movies and TV shows and so thought it must be a popular choice for FS as well but a quick search through YT only turned up the 5th and the 9th. Maybe I haven't been searching hard enough...the build up of that piece is epic and I was wondering what it'd look like with a skating choreo matched with it. And has anyone here ever seen the Tohoku Winter Lights commercial on YT? The video and the music accompanying it are breathtakingly beautiful. It'd be so terrific if Hanyu were to skate to it as an EX or something, while leaving all the ambient sound in the video inside the track. I love envisioning the union in my head all the time...
  2. Sorry but this is gonna get long. I'm sure that's just your disappointment speaking and not really you. Because I don't think anyone who has seen what he's done all these years, no matter how high the obstacles, and had grown to respect and admire him for what he's accomplished despite them, could ever label him as "lazy", and actually mean it, no matter what most might think of as seemingly dubious decisions he might make later on. Because that kind of thing speaks of a person's core character and it's not something they can change. And Yuzuru Hanyu's proven time and time again that his core character is anything but lazy. I was born with a lazy and relaxed nature that I have to fight against all the time to get anything done at all (because I'm also cursed with a conscience) and I can only wish I could be a fraction as hardworking and as disciplined as he is. I don't think he needs to, or can, even, prove anymore that this is the only way he can ever be. So I'm sure after you've allowed yourself to get over this disappointment of potentially not being able to see a brand new program in the Olympic season (or having to see the same one a third time), you'll come around to the notion that if someone can make what most might consider as an overdone program into something else bigger and better entirely, and make everyone see things his way, that someone would be him. And you'll be glad for the fact that something within you saw him worth rooting for in the first place. If this is indeed the route he chooses to take, this bigger and better thing, when it happens, I am sure we'll all end up watching over and over again no matter our doubts now, wondering why we ever thought what he delivered before, while amazing in and of itself, was even close to being the best, when in hindsight, it's merely a work-in-progress. And this won't be something we will ever be able to see, should he go down a different route. If he decides to stick to this route, it means there's still bigger potential in it. And it'd be one that only Yuzuru Hanyu can bring to reality. Because bringing about end results that go beyond anybody's wildest dreams? Well, it's only something he's done a few times before. No biggie. Just another day of work for him that leaves the rest of the world struggling to pick up our jaws from the ground and him simply dusting off his hands, smile that wily smile of his (some might argue that it's sweet, and for all intents and purposes, it does appear to be as such but I know foxishness when I see it--no matter how subtle--which is also something I like about him) and move on to tackle the next big thing on his list. I'd call it the curse of geniuses who can see further possibilities where others can only see limits but I genuinely think this guy basically lives to see the stupefied expressions on people's faces once he's proven them wrong, and gets his kicks and motivation from knowing that only he can put them there. Because no matter how many times he's made people question his decisions in the past, it's always been him at the end of the day who gets to say, "Toldja so." No matter how many times these decisions inevitably lead people to question his character, he's the one whom no one can blame for saying, when all is said and done, "Good thing I had faith in myself even when no one else did" (but doesn't and would instead credit all the faith that led to his success to others--and genuinely thinks so, too). It's a pattern I have no doubt he's very used to already but it's always nice to know that people have your back still. The lows can be soul-crushing, yes, but the highs at the end that make everything worth it? Those can only come after the lows. So stick around, okay? Because so long as the guy remains healthy, I'm sure he'll make it worth our while for it in the end. P/s: Yes, please, a new variation of the costume would be very nice, if he's indeed doing this. Though it was also very nice seeing this one again. Wouldn't mind seeing the first iteration of it again, too.
  3. Sure. Just credit the quote directly to the speaker. No need to mention me at all, since I wasn't the one who said it, lol.
  4. Is there really no English translation for this? That's surprising. I started on it a bit to see how far I'm able to go and if I'd be able to see it to its finish. I got about 4 1/2 minutes done in more or less an hour (had to stop cos it's late and I've had a long day) and if my mile-wide lazy streak doesn't rear its unwanted head (it *is* full of talking made out of lengthy sentences, after all), I shooooould be able to finish it, even if the progress is somewhat laggy. But because of that streak, and the fact that someone may say something in the interview that completely stumps me (which I can brush off and move on if I were only listening and not translating), I can't say how long it'll take me so please don't hold your breath, alright? It could be up over the weekend, it could take well over a month or it may never be finished (the last scenario is only if I get stumped halfway through, cos nothing deflates my motivation faster than that). But if it gets done, you'll find it on this media and translations subforum. ED: I know a progress report isn't necessary but I thought I'd give it anyway just to keep my motivation up. Slightly past the halfway mark (past the 8th minute) now so momentum-wise, and the prospect of it being finished are looking pretty good. Got a day full of stuff to do today so will have to set this aside but will hopefully be able to get back to it really soon. ED2: All done and posted in the Media Links & Translations subforum! http://www.planethanyu.com/topic143.html#p9887
  5. Whelp, let it not be said that our man Hanyu with his wise words isn't a massive motivator. Thought this would take me ages but only ended up taking me a few hours over a couple of days. There are probably some minor inaccuracies here and there but for the most part, this should be pretty much par for the course. Requested by Killaa over at the Media Link Request thread. If anyone knows the exact date this was aired, please share. ^_^ (ED: Thanks kiki. Not sure how I missed that. Thanks also for correction on the program name. Dara said as much but I absentmindedly put in its nickname instead of its official one -.-;;) Again, if you wish to share this elsewhere, it would be lovely if you could run it by me first. Thank you! ~*~ 2015/12/15 Hodo Stn. Special Interview (w/I. Furutachi)

  7. <-- this one? (yuzuru appears from 5:33 onwards) (gotta love the part where they asked him what he's gonna show them and he said the biellmann and the overzealous dude (who was practically shouting into everybody's face...not sure why he still needed the mic really) asked him to go ahead and as he was skating away to do just that... Overzealous dude: He's gonna show us the Biellmann and then he's gonna show us the Ina Bauer!!! And Yuzuru's body language be like: Huh?? When did I promise that?? Ah what the heck... (Sorry for going off-topic...)

  11. ikr? must be during the period when he was having minor dental work done xD this isn't actually as obvious as some of his earlier interviews in the same year. lol.
  12. Hi all. In celebration of a new forever home for Yuzuru fans worldwide (thank you so much for doing this), I thought I'd post this here, if allowed, as a little house-warming gift. I did this a few months back and had nowhere to post it and so did it on my WP blog...which is more of a personal output dump than anything. I don't actually know the name of this program (though I know it's a rather regular one) so if someone could enlighten me, I'll gladly edit the name of the thread. (edited 17/5/2, with a big thank you to Dara) Now when I first did this, I used a video uploaded on YT and the user forbade linking or even the disclosure of the url, which explains why I ended up using screencaps instead. I've since found other sources that don't impose the same restrictions but somehow didn't have the presence of mind to save them when I did so if any of you can provide me with one, I'll be happy to add the link in here. (edit: (1) http://www.bilibili.com/video/av1058310/, (2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjNb6OyGddY, both links are courtesy steemsprite, with the second one being a reupload by them ) As you can probably tell from the thread title, this gem is an old one, so many of you older fans may already have seen this translated but since I haven't seen any for myself, and I love the content of it, I'm going to share it here. Consider it a nice little throwback of sorts. ^___^ Enjoy! (And in Hanyu we trust!) A humble request: If you'd like to use or repost this translation, I'd really appreciate it if you could check with me first. Thank you! ~*~
