  1. There were steps before that Lz in the SP! And the LP first jump looked like a loop. Wonder what layout he's going for. I like the music choices, but I expect the programmes to peak at SkAm and go downhill from there. Like Nemesis did. And the scores to keep going up. Like they did last season.
  2. It won't matter to the scores, most likely. It was pretty stark when he landed six quads last season, too, but didn't matter to the scores. Ah well, maybe it won't be all empty and he'll have deeper edges. We'll see.
  3. Surely the Canadian curse won't be that cruel! And finally, one day, he will take on the One True ChallengeTM that will truly make him GOAT, acknowledged by all far and wide, including certain 'critics': he will point his toes. (ETA: Need sarcasm font.)
  4. I like the music, but if that becomes a crossover-jump thing, it's going to be very obvious and really stark.
  5. There are rumours that Nathan might be bringing his 4Lo back - somebody watched his FS practice and said the first jump might be a loop. (Nothing confirmed, just a rumour.)
  6. All these kids are getting photos with Yuzu! Go kids, you're this planet's last hope! The fate of the entire population rests on your small shoulders! I woke up feeling both sick (terrible cold) and very dramatic.
  7. I wouldn't mind seeing how Yuzu looks with a perm.
  8. He's coaxed every rule change to his side so far, I see no reason why he shouldn't do it this time, too. If judges want to throw a +5 at something, his 3A is right there. It's just right there ticking all the bullets like it's nothing. Much as I get annoyed about reputation scoring, his reputation for quality is going to come in handy now that rules have been changed to reward quality. I'd love him to sweep everything, win everything, be perfectly healthy and happy with no kuyashii. If we're dreaming, we might as well dream big.
  9. Do you think he's prepping for a man bun?
  10. If I say one negative word about whatever he unveils on media day, point me back to this post. He should do whatever gives him joy and I will be happy with that.
  11. I think the competitive drive is just too much a part of him now for him to ever be okay with not winning along with achieving his own sense of perfection, there'll still be lots of silver kuyashii. But I hope he feels free enough to go ahead and do exactly what he wants, choose the music he wants, the choreo he wants, express the emotions he wants, not what he knows judges have traditionally appreciated more easily. If HYK is any indication, we're in for so many glorious treats! *giddy with anticipation* I can't wait for media day!!!
  12. I think it's more... His debts have been paid. He's surrounded by many people who sacrificed a lot of things, and who put a lot of faith in him (and many who questioned his abilities) to achieve a few specific goals, the loftiest goals of elite athletes. He's given his supporters everything, and proven his doubters wrong. That's the feeling I got when he said that now what he wants is to show what he wants to do. He's paid his debts, he's achieved the goals to justify all the faith and investment in him, to silence the doubters. Anybody who's not satisfied now will never be satisfied no matter what he achieves, it'll always be shifting goalposts with them. Now he can pursue his own goals of perfection independent of whatever ISU or whoever else thinks it should be. Personally, I think he paid his debts a long time ago, in Sochi. But he is the Extra Overlord, of course he'd go above and beyond even there. Now there can't possibly be anybody who'd begrudge him whatever he wants to do with the rest of his time as an elite figure skater.
  13. There's everything nice. There'll be a party on media day when a healthy Yuzu shows off his new programmes, too.
  14. Everybody's welcome in our camp! Only doubts and possibly reality are not allowed.
  15. That's what I'm talking about.
  16. Shush I'm trying really hard to stay in my 'everything is really going according to plan for once' camp. It's a nice camp. There are happy bunnies and bees and Pooh has lots of hunny and there's a stream and grass and wildflowers and a lovely and perfectly evenly frozen lake that does not mean the rest of the camp is cold. It's a magic everything's fine camp. I'm staying here. I'm staying here, dammit!
  17. I'm dreaming of how well his training must be going now that he's back in Toronto that they're confident he can compete at ACI as usual. So happy.
  18. Sorry, but... Their servers, I mean.
  19. I can't wrap my head around it, it doesn't feel real. So much left to live and it's all gone, in a stupid robbery, for car mirrors? I hope his family and friends have all the support they need right now.
  20. Crap I was hoping it was a hoax when I saw it!
  21. Oh wow, I didn't mean to start pages of speculation about Yuzu and booze! It doesn't matter whether or not he drinks. I was under the impression that he had a pretty strong reaction to the disinfectant in the hospital, and then the sake he had with his family didn't really make the whole alcohol thing appeal to him, so there was no point risking a reaction of any sort by having more to test it out. He's an elite athlete, he takes care of his body very well, and he's not really likely to drink something he had a bad reaction to when it was rubbed on him when he didn't even enjoy the experience of drinking it all that much, is he! All risk, no reward for him. It's a perfectly sensible response if he decided nope, not going to risk a bad rash by trying it again, not worth it.
  22. Ah, I see. Yes, it kind of reminded me of my own first reaction to beer when I tried it as a teenager (yuck!! *takes a few more sips* definitely yuck! wait my fingertips feel funny, what is this! - my great adventure in underage beer drinking), that's why I remembered the not liking part, though I might be misremembering, too. An elite athlete has plenty of reasons to not try it again and develop a taste for it.
  23. It's only the strong rubbing alcohol in hospital after his surgery that Yuzu was allergic to, isn't it? And it must be pretty mild or they'd have known before getting recovery from surgery quantities of it rubbed on him, you always get it rubbed on your skin before getting a shot. I remember he said he had sake after his coming of age ceremony and it was the first time he had alcohol and he didn't like how it made him feel or something of the sort. I think he went on to say that's probably a good thing because he's an athlete and he shouldn't be drinking, or something along those lines.
  24. Artistic arm movements during top quality crossovers.
  25. Do they have any example of a fully rotated and okay landed quad that would NOT check that bullet about height and distance and all that? Do quads by definition tick that box?
