Well that's not entirely true because the only way you can miss the Japanese Nationals and be considered is if you're not participating because of injury or unavoidable circumstances. So technically you do have to participate. If you don't for the reasons above we get into the whole list of what conditions need to be met. And the list does take into account qualifying comps, just not Nationals. It's not the whole of BOW either; it's very specific few things - top 3 of ISU world standing, season world ranking or season best. This is not something just for Yuzuru either; every single skater taking part has this option available to them in case they're injured/sick/etc. So no, I don't really consider that a privilege. If they invented something, or bent the rules for Yuzuru, then it would be but as things stand, no.

Plushenko aside, am not sure which privilege did Yuzuru have and when? What bye? If you mean Helsinki and Olympics team, those are not privileges. Those are per rules earned qualifications with his work.

Tbh, there's no fight between Yuzuru, Shoma and Dai. Yuzuru and Shoma are way too ahead. Now for the third spot, that could legit be a big one, depending on what Dai's state is. If there is one thing I am looking forward to, it's the step sequence!

Yuzuru was sick, if you remember, so he missed Nationals so he didn't 'deserve' it. I don't even remember all the details now but I think there was even a mess that people were told they were signing one thing, when it was another, that. It got sorted out quickly enough, but just the idea was guh.

I'm more talking about Japan locally. Yes, I've seen the whole he'll medal at Worlds etc thing but I'm more interested in what happens locally, in Japan, which is the issue that as I see it, is something we can compare somewhat. And yes, he was in Mishin's camp (more Caro! ) but not sure who'll coach him. About the fans, it's a different situation as Zu himself is in a different situation and a vast majority of Dai fans are super nice people. But there is this small, nasty section that is simply vocal. Hopefully it is fine even if they were still active just a year ago.

Yuzuru fans can't stop Daisuke fans doing whatever they like. They can have a little party and yell radioactive boy at Yuzuru like the good old times.

Everyone's super happy about Daisuke but I am so not! Kazuki, Keiji both but Kazuki especially is young and showing lots of progress. But now what? With Kansai behind him Dai's PCS, no matter what he does, will range from Chiddy's to Zu's, somewhere there about. It's going to be such a mess. Not to mention the NHK host spot, if it really goes to Dai and at this point, I expect it to.

They don't. Which is admirable on one side but to be perfectly blunt, plain stupid by now, considering what everyone else is doing. And yes, they're not the best overall, in terms of how they handle things. @Cerunias actually nobody knows exactly why China gave up all the events this season. There are theories, but that's about that.
