2018/19 Coaching changes
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Because this off season hasn't had enough, pretty serious rumors that Panenkova has now left Eteri. To Buyanova. -
They just recently talked about their new programs so something must have happened. She's had major trouble with concussions so I wonder if it is that. If so, wise choice even if very unexpected split.

2018/2019 Season Program Announcements
Yatagarasu replied to kaeryth's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I'll take red too! If anyone wants to see Brian having a go! Robin Cousins choreo, Johnny Mathis version. -
I saw and by the time I was done, my eyebrows hit my hairline! Honestly, they both need to grown up. Multiple facepalms indeed.

Another mess, in public. I cannot

2018/2019 Season Program Announcements
Yatagarasu replied to kaeryth's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Am not sure if anyone posted it yet. It was leaked by another skater, so this might be Zhenya's SP music. There are covers, including one by Gaga but who knows which, if so. Brian actually skated to this as a pro - Orange Coloured Sky by Nat King Cole. Talk about a change of pace! I do like it. If so, then the FS will probably be much more calm, as an opposite. -
Say what?

I was away for a few days on a trip and just back today to get a text from a friend to tell me what happened and I just couldn't believe it. I thought it was not real. I still cannot comprehend it. I suppose the utter, sheer, horrific senselessness of the entire situation in particular is what is making it so difficult to grasp. At 25, so many big and little hopes, dreams, plans and just gone. Over a car mirror. If only he hadn't gone out at that moment, if only he turned around, if only these were even remotely decent human beings. If, if, if, all pointless, and devastating. Tragic for his family and friends but more so, tragic for him. Vale Denis.

I ignore IK as much as I can for the simple reason that she pretends to know everything and then gets super huffy when she is corrected, which is often and two, that she tends to create drama on purpose with some of her comments and translations. She does have useful things and I am grateful but the rest just taints it for me. That's a bit ... I mean if he isn't going then Brian would have made the statements and then it all got pulled. So I consider that a major if considering Brian might be fed up. He doesn't seem the sort who tolerates things like that easily, especially as he's probably the most sought out name in the singles coaching these days. Anyway, IMO Boyang is not going but I'm still going to wait and see because it's not a certainty.

Black. Black is also good. He can sparkle and be all black. With LGC hair. And skate to a dark tango .... ahem.

Sure way to have Cave Boy poke his head out is to have a kid present He looks super cute but boy am I envious of that girl's hair. Gorgeous. Welcome back to Toronto CB. Have fun!

At this point, who knows. I really hope this gets resolved quickly and we get some kind of official confirmation one way or another. Mess.
-
Doug Haw and yes, he's one of Brian's best friends.

Team we're fewer but still good!
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Look who else is in Toronto, both Deniss and Koshiro! So just like last season. -
No we didn't but there was a statement on Brian's FB and he spoke about Boyang coming mid-June so a deal was in place.
-
I meant that I don't see Lori being an unreasonable person, so if Brian had things that needed to be adjusted for Boyang I don't see a reason why she would say no. This is done all the time, for layout or other reasons. Lori also wants a cordial relationship with Brian and TCC, I mean it's simply common sense so I just cannot envision this as a reason to break such a huge thing as Boyang going to TCC. This is something else but honestly, I doubt we'll ever find out the exact truth.

Lordy, someone up there is having a laugh.

Uh oh. Jinx. ___ @Eclair yes, their insider info is often true, so I am more inclined to believe that (however mind boggling it is this time) but the speculation is more often wrong than not and this particular one sound really off to me. Tbh Brian doesn't need more leeway, I am sure of it. He is quite tricky with accepting skaters and he wouldn't have done it in the first place if there were many attached conditions. I don't know what happened if indeed it did but it is probably some mess way bigger than iffy choreo. And Lori doesn't seem like she would make a fuss over this either btw.
-
I doubt very, very much that Boyang is not coming, if he is not coming, due to something like that. Sounds like nonsense to me, especially as they were supposed to work long term and spend years together. There would be other programs. News that he is not coming though ... now that is huge. WTH off season. WTAH.
-
They did. But hey they tried with the different colours! At least nobody broke any limbs by being forced to climb that rickety podium that they keep lugging around for 84 years now. I'm sure we'll see it again this season. Personally I love glass; you can make gorgeous stuff out of it.

@Lunna there is no drama like Russian Drama! Here's something nice, cannot wait tbh! ETA More photos of Polina and the duo! http://ltk-cska.ru/photoalbums/postanovka-programm-polina-tsurskaya-sezon-2018-2019/

I saw that but on the other hand Fedya was talking about her just recently too and how she's recovered and there was no indication whatsoever that anything was going wrong. Might not be Novoselov indeed because the issues ... but on the other hand, this off season is so wild that who knows!

@¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Yes, it was definitely not a good thing. Internally, in Japan, there was a lot of condemnation. Somewhat of a controversial match. Here's a taste, even we wrote about it so at that point, when you compare those two, it'd seem like he was saying Yuzuru also had very dodgy tactics and perhaps didn't deserve to win. It was a really unfortunate thing to say so many Japanese fans reacted. Brain blink for him. Happens.
-
No worries. Peeps can, and do disagree with him, but one can express that in a more polite way if needs be, which I'd say is more our thing Plus honestly, while unfortunate, I am sure he didn't mean any harm. It'll be fine. Off season and all. Especially this one, IDEK I keep waking up to things happening ... I feel like tomorrow, I'll be greeted with - Satoko and Keiji are a new pair or something. Because why not apparently
-
From the little I saw it's not the doubt that's the issue it is the fact he compared something iffy to Yuzuru but it'll blow over. Honestly, I don't even have a problem with him doubting Yuzuru would win either of the golds, prior to or during the competition. He's entitled to his own opinions and there was a good case to be made that it was somewhat doubt-able, especially the 2018 one. He was in a bad state. I think listening to BESP commentators after he won the gold is a good representation of how many felt. I mean as a fan, a part of me would have believed in his victory if he went out hopping on one foot so I'm not exactly unbiased here but plenty of others thought it an impossibility.
