  1. Welcome to the Planet's 1000th thread for the 1000th Winter Olympic Games Gold Medalist Let's post loving, supportive, and personal messages, pictures, art, and more to Yuzu. Not sure what we'll eventually do with them, but there's no harm in starting to collect them here and now
  2. listening to his voice (even though i don't understand a thing) is so soothing
  3. Seems like the GOE scoring system was changed from +3 to +5 for a reason
  4. Yay! I have pattern 99 revolutions (the same ones Yuzu has) and I love them, but supposedly they are a tad harder to spin in than other types of blades. But spinning in shitty blades or those blades that come attach to cheap(er) skates seems impossible. And I can't spin on rentals at all because the blades are always so much shorter than I'm used to.
  5. I think the probability of Yuzu wrapping it up after worlds is almost none.........
  6. I'll admit I never knew that Adam Rippon has beaten Yuzu before. Bb was 14 only and Adam was 19 😲 what a long LONG long way Yuzu has come in 10 years ♥️
  7. Wow somehow he started choosing better cuts of costume or his neck got shorter 🤣😆
  8. I wish her well, and to go skate in shows and do all the ads she wants and live a great life!
  9. Eteri isn't my favorite person but Alina doesn't look like she's in that bad of shape, not so injured she couldn't compete even if she wanted, nor forcibly pushed out despite still feeling the motivation to skate. Maybe she has some injuries but the main issue is that of motivation. She has already won everything. Like she says, she has everything she wants in life and the hunger to win comes from something being missing, and right now nothing is missing. That's hardly a sad thing. Skaters wanting to move on from competitive sport because they are satisfied with their careers is hardly a bad thing. Eteri probably told Alina (and she knows as much herself) that she needs to learn a quad or she won't be competitive anymore. And Alina decided she didn't have the motivation to do that (and maybe not the physical ability). It's not Eteri's fault that the Russian competitive landscape is what it is, and I doubt Alina wants to compete with all her might to get 4th place. I wish her well in everything else she wants to do in life. There's a lot more to life than skating.
  10. Subconscious bias is a form of racism.
  11. Context is important here. Saying American skaters have a strong fed backing isn't racist because, well first, being American isn't a race, and that is just a fact supported with large amounts of data. But saying that Chinese American skaters get special treatment because of their ethnicity isn't backed by any facts, and in fact flies in the face of how many Asian-Americans and other minorities are treated in sport and media in the US. So for someone like Max who has no experience being Asian or Asian-American (or even American) to make these claims without any facts, is at best very racially insensitive, even if his intentions aren't racist. I mean saying "N and A are being overscored because they have Chinese ancestry" when the majority of skaters who are overscored are not of Chinese ancestry is, well, is exhibiting a lot of subconscious racial bias. If the Olympics were held in Europe and Nathan were White, would Ambeesi's mind ever jump to such a conclusion? Also keep in mind Max didn't say "It would be cool if the US used Nathan and Alysa's background as a marketing point for Beijing 2022," he said "They are probably overscored because they are Chinese-American and the Olympics are in Beijing." There's a difference between the two; one is a celebration of their ethnicity and the other is an accusation of special treatment.
  12. I don't think this is how it works. IMO the Olympics being in Beijing has nothing to do with the inflation at all. It would be the same if the next Olympics were held on Mars. I also don't see how the olympics being in beijing and Nathan being Chinese-American would be bigger $$$ in the United States than if Nathan were White or any other race. In fact, the $$ would be much more if he were a photogenic ice princess like Gracie Gold for sure. Anyway saying Nathan and Alysa get candies because they're Chinese-descent is pretty racist, even if I agree with them on other things.
  13. Well, apparently 30 seconds of actual program time was too long for them, I doubt they'd accept 5 minutes to the k+c. Or maybe they could play more ads during broadcasts?
  14. Yeah I'm not clicking an r/figureskating link
