  1. Interpretation should be yeeted from PCS too... I mean it's often quite obvious who has more interpretation than others but it's never judged correctly (and still, very subjective, people have different preferences) and so we shouldn't even give judges the lever to be corrupt. Just yeet it all. PCS should be: - Edge quality (probably measurable by software) - Transitions (measurable by software) - Speed (already measured) and ice coverage (already measured) - Okay, we can squash composition and choreography into one - for well balanced programs, those little details, etc. Each category should be equally weighted. And they are often tradeoffs of each other -- if you have more transitions you usually have less speed. If you spend more time on deep edges (i.e. Patrick Chan) you won't have as many transitions either... but that's ok, they are judged equally. That's the beauty of diversity of styles and skills, rewarding skaters for their strengths. If you happen to have all of the above then give em ✨all the points✨
  2. Program components need a revamp, but to get rid of "presentation" and add in more objective categories like speed, ice coverage, etc. (basically split out skating skills into more categories).
  3. Let's talk about Nathan in the Team USA Thread I think not everyone in this thread wants to hear about Nathan especially after such an emotional Olympics...so let's keep this topic about Yuzu! (I moved some posts even though they were slightly relevant to Yuzu too but mostly about Nathan) https://planethanyu.com/topic/59-team-usa/
  4. While I agree that sometimes it goes too far, I think that's the problem with unfair scoring and corruption to begin with. When you have unfair scoring you can't really draw a clear line between respecting other skaters' efforts and calling out unfairness; when the trust is broken people stop having confidence in the system (even if the results *might* be the same regardless). It becomes difficult to find a common ground for fans to talk respectfully about all skaters (and competition results, and skating in general...) It's not an easy problem to solve if people have lost trust in the system, and I've seen it across figure skating fandoms. Even retired competitive skaters have joined in on losing faith in it all... I don't think it's possible to have a figure skating community that isn't at least a little negative at this pt, it's like we all hate each other and hate skating That being said we should stop focusing on other skaters and try to shift the attention to Yuzu instead in the General Yuzuru Chat...
  5. I agree ✨ let's try to celebrate the good things more can we? and while discussing competitors is a natural part of the conversation, let's not turn it into bashing other skaters needlessly or focusing on them. Thank you @Hanmgse for the translation of Javi's words...while disappointing, they are ultimately his problem, not Yuzu's. It would be nice to not give more weight to his words by paying them any more attention. There are threads for other skaters in the Team Other Skaters section if you would like to chat about Yuma, Shoma, Nathan, Javi, etc...
  6. Here's one thread that you can revive https://planethanyu.com/topic/809-if-it-wasnt-for-yuzuru-id-never-have/
  7. omggg yuzuru is the only beautiful thing left in skating. [NEWS]
  8. You can try https://planethanyu.com/video/
  9. lol IOC taking credit for the postcards that fans sent to Yuzuru, this is the FUNNIEST THING i've heard this week
  10. meh, i mean the only skaters doing quads or even consistent 3As are eteri's and it's not been proven it works after puberty (and, sadly, maybe without other reasons this doping scandal put into light)
  11. I don't think it has much to do with whether Yuzu refused to become a jump machine. In fact Yuzu has consistently skated programs with 4 or even 5 quads since 2018. That's hardly falling behind technically in any way. Shoma has been a mess this whole quad and he still gets the benefit of the doubt just fine. ISU wanted Nathan because USFSA is powerful (it helped that Nathan was consistent) and JSF wanted Shoma/Yuma because they also just preferred them (local politics?). That's really all there is to it.
  12. Also, just to add -- while it's ok to speculate about alternative universes, let's not question Yuzu's choices too much. I think he's at least earned that right, especially from his fans. We know only the tip of the iceberg -- about the politics he faces, about his condition, about his motivations. Remember when people questioned his choice of not attending the team event? Who knew it might've been because JSF didn't send him?! And remember he DID do 4Lzs and 4Los this entire quad. He's thought of and tried everything! Yuzu has always made decisions very intelligently and with a lot of thought. Who are we to say "if he did X then JSF would support him more" or "if he did Y he would have won a medal"? We don't know. Most likely our assumptions are wrong. Or irrelevant. Yuzu deserves to skate for himself and himself only. Exactly the way he wants.
  13. i just hope the love of all of his fans can make up for the iciness of the jealousy of those around him
  14. wtffff yuzu, i know he was upset but stop being so hard on yourself pls
