  1. omg this is such a high quality version of this pic....this pic is my phone wallpaper but my version isn't as high quality
  2. I totally agree with everything she wrote. The fact that PCS is multiplied by a random coefficient is just strange to me; if you skated the exact same program as a lady, you will get fewer points just by construction. Quite stupid to say the least, but clearly, the arbitrariness of it all means that there is a lot of room for changes/tweaking, especially data-driven changes, including but limited to just changing the multiplier. It's a simple thing to do that doesn't involve shouting from the rooftops, "Guess what, all you Boyang Jins of the world, we are going to decrease the point values on all your strengths based not on data, ticket sales, or anything, but on what our clearly more enlightened minds think skating SHOULD be and you don't fit that ideal" instead of saying "Guess what, we want to value skating skills/choreography/interpretation MORE because they are VERY DIFFICULT AND VERY IMPORTANT TOO." And as that blogger shows, not only are their changes completely convoluted, they also DO NOT work. SMDH.
  3. the organizers get VERY ANGRY because this one moment gets more attention/press than ANY other event in the 4 week-long, multi-billion dollar $$ Olympics.
  4. Javi literally FORGETS to bring his costume to the Olympics, so he has to borrow Yuzu's.
  5. Jason Brown rotates and lands a quad this season. Adam Rippon rotates and lands a quad lutz this season.
  6. Eteri goes 3-for-3 in Olympic spots. (Remember just one year ago people were predicting Polina Tsurskaya to win the Olympics? ) Mirai Nagasu lands a 3A at nationals, wins, and goes to the Olympics. A non-top 6-at-2017-worlds man wins a medal in Pyeongchang.
  7. Well, let's give IceNetwork some points for humility for putting "An American man gets on the podium at worlds" as a bold, bold prediction (especially since it'll be a post-Olympics Worlds )
  8. I totally agree. I've watched that video over and over and every time it makes me love him more.
  9. "Yuzu can dance<3" LOL well he's only the reigning world and olympic champion as well as world record holder in figure skating (yes i know he was 17 when this happened) what do you think figure skating is?!
  10. Why does it look like all of Yuzu's favorite jumps (or ones he will add) will be affected the most
  11. Yeah, or like one. I'm sure we would really value a former world champion in this quad who probably won't even make the olympic team this year. Can one of them ask to be released and come skate for us? Pls.
  12. Honestly medals aren't expensive lmao This already looks better than those plastic sunburnt orange medals at GPF and the teeny tiny junior worlds medals and "small" (literally) worlds medals.
  13. the feels, oh the feels
  14. A 3 point difference between a quad axel and a quad toe loop how. If you manage to rotate your 4A but it's barely imperfect (scratchy landing, 0 GOE) you already get less points than someone who nails a 4T (+3 GOE). facepalm. FACEPALM.
  15. Are they just worried about the men? Because at least the men are bringing more quads at an alarming rate, whereas the women, have been doing 3Lz-3T's for eternity and their scores are going up like crazy too. But they don't seem to care much about changing the judging for ladies.
  16. Yeah, you are right, it is already a lot of energy for skaters to do back to back competitions, would be worse if they had to do more competitions at one event. And likely no one will buy tickets just to see someone spin or jump, so it will be a $$, resource, and time drain and that's why they got rid of figures....
  17. I'm thinking instead of most points on spins in the competition, it would be a separate event you can enter if you want to...separate from the main event. So you are not automatically entered, and the main event will stay the same as it is and will be judged comprehensively.
  18. When it comes to technical elements, I do think that it is a little bit sad that you can be a terrible spinner but a fine jumper and still do well (i.e. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva), but you can not be a beautiful spinner and a mediocre jumper (i.e. Alisa Lozko, Yulia Lipnitskaya post-Sochi). Skaters like Liza can still win worlds, whereas skaters like Yulia couldn't even get a GP.
  19. Yeah but it would be in addition to what we currently have, i.e. the overall program (short+long).
  20. i wouldn't mind seeing a spin champion, a jump champion, and a team event like gymnastics where you have spin, jump, and overall events, instead of the current odd format where you have mixed disciplines and you can replace up to two skaters. but splitting up the short program and long program, and replacing it with an artistic and technical program, will absolutely kill any interest i have in this sport, lol
