Why oh why do I feel like this could end up being about that 4S she practiced.... She wants to push it, Brian told her not to rush it, and she goes to Eteri who has known quad ladies in the junior ranks, and Turnsynbaeva's build isn't that different.

Last year, it took about 1 day for the all events to be sold out? And it took less than 3 days for some of the individual days tickets to be gone. XD

The Great Glittering Planet Hanyu Glossary (or welcome in fandom lingo)
Xen replied to EisElle's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
@LadyLou @WinForPooh-- Um, in case you do include it, Yuzu's relationship with his quads: link from blog of @gladi: https://wherespacepooh.tumblr.com/post/167212489399/above-after-focusing-himself-yuzuru-landed-a And hence the Harem Quads: I think this glossary is a great idea. In fact, I was wondering, do you think we should have a stickied thread, kind of like an "intro to Planet Hanyu" or "How to read Yuzuru Hanyu for newbies"? We can introduce newbies to say, gladi's blog so they have a start for articles, link in the media thread so they can find videos, etc. This way they don't have to dive into the thing called "General Thread" first thing. Depends on how badly Eteri wants revenge on BOrser taking her ex-student? I wonder how athletes' visas work, and if there are restrictions on how long they can stay in Canada at one time, then they have to leave for a bit before they return etc? But I am trying to figure out why she would move out of TCC, because while people have listed reasons, I don't think any of them sound that compelling, or at the very least there hasn't been a lot of listed alternatives? If it's a crowding issue, it's not like Eteri team is less crowded. The only one I could see if there were disagreements about the 4S in competition and injuries possibilities. =(

I like this better than star wars. It looks like his SS has improved, and the team is finally, finally fully utilizing his speed and agility. A lot more quick, snappy turns and movements than previous years, which is good. Boyang doesn't have the best lines in the business, but he's pretty agile, might as well take advantage of that. For those wondering, the Chinese reads as: -A month of choreography and training is coming to an end. Thank you CSA for giving me the opportunity to go to Canada to prepare for the new season. Thank you Lori Nichol for meticulously crafting 2 programs with very different styles, thanks for Kurt Browning for also joining in the choregraphing of the programs, and crafting my ex program. Thanks to Tracey Robertson-Hanford for guiding me on footwork and skating skills, thanks to Lenore Kay for editing the music for the programs. Thanks to the ice rink Manager Bob for providing the training facility, and the ice surfacing (zamboni) master Randy for working hard every day. In this month I improved greatly, and this improvement cannot be separated from the help of those mentioned above. Lastly, thanks to my 2 coaches for accompanying me every day (full time). I hope I can bring good news for everyone in the new season.

We need auto-refilling popcorn bowls this off season. I would have bet on LilBet going to Plush before her going back to Eteri, assuming Eteri will take her back in. Unless Eteri is intrigued by a senior lady doing a 4S, which LilBet was training on. Wonder if that's the motivation-the 4S goal. Didn't LilBet actually say before she's not doing pairs? So I'm curious now if that rumor, while being dismissed by her, is now being raised again? It's not like someone else didn't say she would never leave her coach, only to do that about a month later....

Proposed changes for next season
Xen replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
you expected democracy? oh sweet summer child.....if they made it democratic, it's clear too many feds would balk. Most people, if you allow them to min max, will not enjoy restrictions to the min maxing. -
Who is she moving to though, is the question. Raf? =/ While everyone is focused on the Eteri vs Orser battle due to Med, maybe next season would be more interesting in the ladies as Raf vs Eteri vs JPN ladies battle. Orser only has 2 skaters in contention, Raf has more direct competition with Eteri in senior and junior ranks.

I think Boyang getting used to competitors is something we, as fans here and in China, have inferred, but that's never been a direct quote from CSA. CSA's rationale on paper, is to improve Boyang's overall package-this is most frequently referred to when they mention Yuzu, Orser etc. On the other hand, that secrecy would be why Brian doesn't allow "two cooks in the kitchen"- TCC team decides the strategy, the feds cannot intervene easily or the deal is out. So from that perspective, CSA probably have to be totally hands off, else CSA will get kicked out. My concern is USFed, but then again USFed doesn't seem that invested in Jason as a whole. Korean Fed, same deal. It's less the skaters per se, but how each fed handles things. And well with CSA, if you have to even find out their own skaters' statuses via skater's/fan Weibo, well... "Team Underscored" for the men in TCC (Yuzu, Boyang, Cha and even Jason to an extent).

Hiyas Lurker Zu! おめでとう!

I think CSA was going to send him overseas sometime, sooner or later. I would not be fully surprised if the push really did come from CSA, and ultimately, even if Boyang wanted to go to BOrser, financially and logistics wise, it would be up to CSA to decide. Boyang's english also isn't that great. Again, go back and read Zhao's interview with Tencent sport at PyeonChang and the idea that many chinese atheletes are not mature enough yet to make those decisions. And he's not far off- while not stupid or wholly ignorant, many of the top atheletes in China get pulled out of the normal education system as soon as they decide to focus on sports. And this pull out isn't just like going to a special school like Yuzu, we're talking about something closer to the Russian system where they receive the bare minimum education necessary to meet law. I ran into a couple girls who are around 9/10 years old, and they pretty much just train, barely doing any schooling. On the other hand....let's just be glad he is at TCC, because another option would have been Raf (where the 2 junior men went).

...Sorry, but snow white? With the current off-season, apologies to Eteri fans in advance. Queen: Eteri Mirror: Tarasova Snow White: Brian 7 dwarves: uh, students I guess? Price: maaaybe Tracy? She usually smacks sense into Brian Huntsman: hmm....Averbu or Mishin maybe? "Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the best coach of them all?" Tarasova: "Not you my queen, I hear there is a coach so fair, he might be the best coach of them all." >_>

He told Jason flat out that Boyang would be at TCC, if anything, think that means those two will partner up.

Guys....CSA approached Brian at Worlds, late March. Between Boyang showing up in Korea for an ice show and the announcement from CSA that they are considering sending Boyang to BOrser, that was almost a full month. During that time Yuzu was in Toronto. I don't think it was a "think over it for an hour and tell me, Yuzu" declaration. Also, regardless what BOrser said in that article, the Chinese interview with Zhao was "considering an arrangement"-I could be wrong, but given it's my native tongue, the interview always sounded like BOrser had the right to refuse as an undertone (the implication was if Boyang didn't go, something didn't work out Toronto side). And articles in China about the move didn't even change to "Boyang will go to Canada" until early to mid May. I don't think it was an easy decision, or as "thoughtless" as the article makes it out to be. Besides, the videos of Boyang tripping over his 1Lz, indicates that he's the one in the secondary rink.
-
At this point, I wouldn't overthink the issue. We're at different points- Yuzu has had direct competitors on the ice before, sharing coaches. He can handle himself. And it is Hersch. The wording sounds like Brian just randomly tossed it out for Yuzu to nod or shake head to. Realistically, what Brian might mean by "toss it out" to Yuzu could be, tell Yuzu, give him time to consider it, and then go. Brian was approached by CSA in late March, he could have "tossed it out "to Yuzu while Yuzu was still in Toronto. There could have been a week of thinking, pondering etc, before it was agreed upon (by looks of it, mid to late April). More importantly-this explains why the video of Boyang tripping on his 1Lz had boards at the rink. That's for Boyang, Yuzu probably gets primary TCC rink.

I'm so sorry guys, the conductor was Bernstein, but the composer is Grofe, here's a recording of this. Pretty modern composer, and I'm amused by how off the beaten track this composer is...never heard of this guy, but the music's pacing does seem to suit Boyang!
-
Well we wanted someone other than Lori..... But the thing is, Boyang is dorky, goofy, funny--which are all traits that also fit Kurt. The thing is, if Boyang can inspire Kurt in making goofy, funny, silly artistic, and vice versa, maybe it will work out. What this little tweet made me think of though is what types of music work for Boyang, and I'm amused by the choice of early century classical music pieces- for example Bernstein, possibly Gershwin, maybe Britton even, composers that are not as well known, and a bit more "modern" or "jazzy." Those are some music choices that actually might work better for Boyang than the classical warhorses or even movie pieces composed by John Williams and co (who are maybe more avante garde).

Hello, I love you.....

According to twitter: Bernstein I don't trust Kurt with Yuzu...but it has been years since then, and the question is how has he evolved as a choreographer. He's not always a bad choice for ex.
-
You know what I would not mind seeing? A serious one like CTHD for long, and a comical or more silly one for the SP. But the music is classical- it sounds more like something you'd expect from a silent movie era film. If anything, maybe going for a tragi-comedy angle. It could also be for the ex programs in Japan? But you know, it would be interesting if Browning does go beyond the comedy or modern type of music and programs-he's capable of it. And Boyang could learn a thing or two from Kurt about bladework.
-
Didn't see that coming, but if they are going for a comical angle, Boyang+Browning might work.
-
The irony is that the chinese announcement is correct. XD Someone was getting ahead of themselves.

To think it's not even June yet....bet all the ice dance coaching changes are just getting started too. o_O

And we all thought it was just BOrser collecting skaters left and right. What if it was really Yuzu going to BOrser with a laundry list of skaters, with names marked, bolded, italicized with little notes on the side? BOrser: Yuzu what is this? Yuzu:...my friends? BOrser: I get that, but why this list? Yuzu: well, next season, maybe...? BOrser: ...o_O Yuzu, how many times do I have to say, that I'm the coach around here? Yuzu: BOrser:...okay okay, anything but *that* look...
