awww thanks so much! It's quite a personal taste, poetry, and I am never quite sure what makes a good poem - I suppose imagery, rhythm, rhyme even - but it can be anything that takes your fancy I think!

Ahhh I had to write a poem after I read a tweet about Yuzuru's apparent fear of abandonment and our fickle love for him! ....and also the snow in Hachinohe...so romantic somehow. And the line above from Perelandra about snowflakes being kisses.. I put it in the poetry thread. I'm not any good at poetry btw!!

On the day of Yuzu's Prologue in Hachinohe this came to me after reading a tweet about Yuzuru's apparent fear of abandonment by us and our fickle love for him ....and also because it snowed in Hachinohe before the show...so romantic somehow! As snowflakes fall from skies of swirling grey, he walks, a black silhouette along streets of virginal white, through entrance doors and corridors, he thinks of the featherlight touch of each unique flake of snow on his face, still tingling, he feels how each brushed his cold skin like a kiss, perhaps from an admirer, similarly unique in their life and in their love for him - love as real, but maybe just as fleeting As snowflakes

It's Fri 5.30am in Japan now, I wonder if Yuzuru is sleeping or awake Hope he isn't too nervous and is able to properly enjoy skating in Hachinohe in front of his adoring fans (I was thinking, no matter what happens, even if there are glitches for example, fans don't mind at all as long as they can see Yuzuru skating eg the LGC music starting at the wrong point in Yokohama - people just laughed, it's all part of the atmosphere of a live show!) Ganbatte Yuzuru it will be amazing, because YOU are amazing!

Aaaah I see that Mark would have had an interest in/liked the ice dance content...yes and Yuzuru's name always gets the clicks, it all makes sense now lol! Still, why people hold a grudge against Yuzuru is so hard to understand...he is so lovely, works so hard, put out a fantastic body of work, made the sport more popular, loves Russian figure skating community...just what is not to like??

OMG imagine liking this....it's an "alternative fact!!" Do you think Mark believes Daisuke is more popular than Yuzuru?? or just wishes he was?

Just watched Rika's You Raise me Up at the Gala....she is quite mesmerising, beautiful beautiful skating and expression/interpretation So glad she is back, and looking so happy and pleased with her progress (if not with the FS score yesterday...) Watched Shun too - he is looking much more confident and I liked his loud floral shirt! Mark again mentioned Yuzuru - he keeps calling him "the great Yuzuru Hanyu" which I approve of...it misses the "...est of all time" bit but I am still glad he mentions Yuzu, I hate the radio (almost) silence on Yuzu

they probably don't know about his 3 URs I mean q's...

I really wish the protocols were shown at the point the scores are announced - lots of sports fans love numbers, if they were shown on screen I think it would fuel people's interest in the scoring and they would find out more/ask more about it - ofc ISU wont want this though as they would be challenged more about it...

You know Mark points out URs esp in the women's event - he saw Ilia's slomo 4A and I know that he saw the UR but stopped himself saying anything! It's that which is just so annoying, loads of ppl dont go and look at protocols so they never know if commentators dont point it out.

I need to check the 4A - it looked at least a q if not UR on the slo mo...was it given a q Haven't checked protocols yet Just checked - 4A and 4S given q Oh and Shun and Ilia both got 8.5 for SS - much too high for Ilia - Tatsuya was 8.07

In the ISU chat, I would say that your view is confirmed - seemed to me that both experienced and inexperienced fans of FS could see just what you describe above, and that ppl enjoy better musicality, interpretation, performance and skating skills above boring jumps alone. Mark (commentator) who is an ice dancer ffs was complimenting Ilia on his wonderful PCS skills too??!!

So glad for Shun, Ilia's PCS a nonsense (ofc, and no surprise there) also Tatsuya skated beautifully (and should also have higher PCS than IM imo...)

Shun is in the GPF final!! He got silver at Espoo behind the US kid. It's relevant in this thread because he loves Yuzu, was wearing the pendant Yuzu gave him, and is a Sendai boy like Yuzu (is that enough reasons??!}

Thanks so much for sharing George; those precious photos and time spent chatting with Yuzu made me 😭. He looks lovely as do you all. Isn’t Ghislain such a warm person, no wonder Yuzu took to him immediately. Thanks again, I’m going to reread and re-examine those pics!!

someone on twitter said it was for Nov 17th....the Prologue YT channel was born on Nov 17th...(look under About tab) Yuzu and his numbers/dates

I like the @prologue39 YT handle (39 in Japanese sounds like "thank you" in English I believe?) Oh and he posted at 11:17am....a few minutes late!!

The thing is, Yuzuru was actually following the rule book to the letter - everything it asked for, he worked very hard on....and the powers that be changed the rules without actually changing the rulebook, or telling anyone openly - they did it by stealth and manipulation and back room deals, that is another very sad aspect of Yuzuru's experience, he 100% worked to the rules set down by the ISU and federations, and when they realised that Yuzuru would be unbeatable using current rules, they changed course and direction in the most dishonest way, and Yuzuru must have realised it was because it was the only way to ensure he didn't keep winning and that the USA could win Oly gold again (in 2018 was the plan...but they made sure of it in 2022). When he says he felt like he was being told to retire, he was right - that effectively is what they did to him.

Yuzuru will be very impressed with Ghislain's 60th birthday date - 22.11.22 - beautiful symmetry, pattern, 22 is 2 x 11, such a great number!! (OK it's me that's impressed tbh!) Happy birthday Ghislain EDIT - it's also Keiji's birthday!! Happy Bday Keiji!!

Yuzuru is so playful….I wonder if ice shows could give him opportunities to show his playful nature -,these interactions are so funny and cute 😭(why am I crying??)

Aliona is such a direct and honest young woman, I enjoy her skating a lot and hope her injuries heal well, and I'm impressed at her determined personality at such a young age - she shows great maturity. She is intelligent, lovely, and courageous (for the figure skating world where hardly anyone speaks up about anything). I would love to see her skating again one day, with or without her (beautiful) 3A. (asking her about a photo shoot was rather...unnerving though. Would they ask a man this??)
