just imagine how much higher the number would be if he had auctioned one of his costumes... if he did that with all of his costumes he could actually take over the ISU

they're reducing the BV of quads and applying -5 GOEs on falls... I wonder how this is going to affect the quadsters' plans. also, stamina won't be rewarded if they cancel the 10% bonus... these new rules could benefit skaters like Javi so maybe he shouldn't have retired so early. in theory, I do agree that the GOEs range should be +5/-5 so things like good height and distance, difficult entries and arm positions, transitions in and out of the jump and the jump matching the music can make a bigger difference and have more weight on the score. in practice though, I doubt they'll actually consider those bullet points to give out the candies. in reality, they now have more room to prop up the skaters they favour. i guess i expect Yuzuru to get even more relatively underscored in the "subjective" marks... i'm glad though that he seems satisfied with the medals and scores he's earned so far and that now he's mainly motivated to land Nessie, which is a record that no judge could take away from him. rewarding a SKATER's armwork as much as their FOOTwork just sounds ridiculous to me the silver lining is that now Zu could show up with a KOI program next season and get 10s on TR all around for his quality arm movements

Maybe his decision to recycle programs or not will depend on how much training time he has post-rehab and pre-GPs.. ?
-
my expectations aren't that high... Even if he pops all of his jumps, just seeing him healthy and back, possibly with new music, choreo, and costume would be more than enough to make me happy By the way.. does Hanyu hold the record of being the first/only skater who's broken a WR with their first of the season? That'd be another record to add to the long list

Wow... Javi is about his bronze Until 0:36 he explained to casual fans why falling on a difficult jump might give you more points than executing a jump with lower BV perfectly (his tone makes it seem like he disagrees with this). He also says that doing a clean program will get you higher PCs Then the interviewer asked if he thinks he deserved Silver... Javi answered (sounding pissed): "All of Shoma's elements, especially the jumps, weren't well-.... The landings of the jumps- he lacked speed, he overrotated/stepped out ? and that should be penalized with -GOEs but the judges gave him +GOEs. He skated well, I can't deny that, he had a fall and well, I had a mistake too, so we're equal there. His other jumps should've had deductions though... Anyway, I'm happy with my medal."

I'd LOVE to have LGC back... that's my favorite SP by him. I've watched this countless times... i'd love to have an actual clean version of it it'd also be fun to see what new costume variation he'd surprise us with plus someone here mentioned the idea of high kick 4A and i can't stop thinking about it, it's my biggesy fantasy now... too bad that's the last jump of the program

Well, I'm 17.. in my defence though, when my favorite korean idol was caught dating in early 2016 I was totally indifferent to the news. I supported him while most of his fandom turned their backs on him. After the scandal he injured his foot while practising- when he was seen on a wheelchair at the airport, knetizens claimed that was a stunt and that he was faking an injury for sympathy. They humilliated him and he got the reputation of being lazy when he's one of the most hardworking dancers I know. That year was hell, he's talked about how depressed he was back then. I don't understand why his relationship was so controversial, and I can't begin to imagine how much worse it'd have been for a same-sex couple I'm not sure if dating scandals are as severe in Japan but I really hope Yuzu's love life will remain private unless/until he wants to announce it

I know this is selfish but personally, I'd be sad if he r* before doing at least one more new program... I started stanning him in the last part of the 16-17 season so I never experienced the reveal of new music, choreography and costumes and all the excitement that comes with it in the fandom. I really hope I can experience watching him perform a program live for the first time at least once.. I'd be happy even if he only has a new EX

it's okay, fanyus could still make it rain Kaneki Ken plushies

I know Yuzuru's Olympic SPs have gained more attention since they were skated clean, but everyone needs to appreciate his LPs there for how groundbreaking they both were-in different ways In Sochi, which is.. not the most liberal place, he unashamedly wore the controversial boobskirt and interpreted a femenine character -Juliet- in his program, showing he couldn't care less about gender norms and toxic masculinity In Pyeongchang, he chose to skate to a piece that truly represented his country and culture, with the intention to disprove the stereotype that Asian athletes are not as at artistry as Western ones I'm so glad that he was able to accomplish those goals and make a statement by taking the Gold in both occasions

I know I sound like a broken record but my admiration and respect for Zu keeps growing. He's so intelligent, insightful and eloquent and I love how passionate and excited he gets when he talks about doing what he loves.
-
Yuzu was probably like, "Ondrej, can you lift me again?.. I mean, you can't say no, we have to do it for the fans "
-
I don't think this has been posted before.. here's the interview where Yuzu talks about learning English to go to the forest with Pooh https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/playback/yuzuru-hanyu-happy-to-say-nothing-at-all/ and in this one Javi talks about how it's like training alongside him and what he admires about him https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/playback/javier-fernandez-and-yuzuru-hanyu-rivals-and-friends/ They're both subbed!

If -after he's healed, knock on wood- his only motivation and focus will be on Nessie... does that mean he's not motivated to learn new choreographies? I'd be happy with LGC 2.0 though... that masterpiece deserves to be skated clean
-
TBH, I'd rather not hear anything else about Nessie preparations or even his planned content before it happens.... I know it's unrealistic but can you imagine how iconic it'd be if his first 4A in competition came totally unexpected? I want him to leave us all like Anyway, whenever that may be, it'll definitely be worth the wait
-
It makes me happy to see Yuzu and Boyang being friends but I wonder how they communicate... does Boyang speak English? lol
-
I've updated the album with more practice shenanigans, Swanyu and the closing ceremony! More than 800 photos now
-
what did he say after "happy"?
-
just kidding but he'd make so much money if he set up a Pooh toy shop lmao he'd profit 100% off it
-
I didn't know about the sum of money but that's more than I thought... SO well deserved though and I imagine he's excited about getting many new earphones

I live in a country where nobody talks about FS, it's not on TV, I've never seen a competitive skater from my country. YOI only made me curious about the sport but Yuzuru actually made me fall in love with it and be an active fan. I'm also a fan of kpop and I don't think there's any correlation between these interests. I enjoy them all separately- I can't stand when people compare real skaters to idols or anime characters. I think Zu attracts a lot of attention not only from kpop stans, but from non-fs stans in general because he's just so... charismatic and easy to love? I might sound biased but... He's humble, polite, incredibly talented, inspiring, hardworking, sweet, goofy, and of course, he's really cute too. It's a mix of all factors.
-
i needed to bring back Johnny and Tara's commentary at 4:45 because hearing it now makes Zu's victory even sweeter...
-
I rewatched GPF 2014 POTO with BESP commentary and... "We're not talking here about the best skater of the year, we're not even talking about the best skater of his generation, he may be one of the greatest skaters if not the greatest skater of all time... as long as he doesn't get injured. He's a very special guy. The maturity that he has now, what, from a year ago? Just to mentally come back and do this defies belief, really". What makes me emotional is the fact that if you didn't know the context, you wouldn't know if these words were really said in 2014 or if they referred to his recent comeback at Pyeongchang... sigh, our boy has been through a lot
