Speaking of which, I saw through the twitter grapevine that apparently Eteri got pissed at Trusova's parents for taking her out for vacation during New Year's without permission? And that led to some inconsistency in Sasha's quads in practice later on. So, given that, is Sasha actually leaving too? o_O

Real talk: Trusova's quads are bad. She's never landed them fully rotated to my eyes. So if she leaves Eteri to either have a better training environment in general, or just to learn real quads, then fine by me. But the subject of their being retained by the time she turns into an adult still remains.

Speaking of which, Med if she decides to switch countries, could still be fine and safe from RusFed politics. Judges from other Feds might be less inclined to mark her down, because she's now a viable alternative, politically, to russian dominance in ladies. Kind of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of mentality. And besides, there are countries that would not mind 3 spots at worlds, and do not require you to have blood ties to the country to become a citizen.

If she decides to switch, they can't tank her PCS immediately. It would be too obvious. She's also still a 2x world champion and Olympic silver medalist, which gives her clout no matter what country she skates for. Italy isn't a strong fed but Kostner still has cloud for being an Olympic medalist and a World champion. That said, I can only see Medvedeva switching countries if Eteri somehow pulls something to never allow her to skate again for Russia...which would be downright effed up if she does, but i can see her threatening it, and Evgenia threatening to switch countries in return....

No, Rus Fed wouldn't do that, it'll be self-sabotage of the stupidest sort if they did.  And I don't see Rusfed as that stupid yet. There are other coaches, other teams, there's no point in sacrificing 3 potential spots if Med still competes well, just for the ego of one coach.

As for the Trusova comment- what I heard on twitter was that Sasha didn't practice during her vacation, so her jumps when she got back was not that good, which pissed off Eteri. So coupled with rumors that Trusova might be going too, I do wonder a bit. If Trusova leaves....

Hm, but where would she go, other than overseas (and I don't think she has the money or reputation to do that yet?) Maybe Anna Tsareva will start to recruit students now that Anna P. may end up retiring.

Now that you put it that way, Russia might actually have trouble getting 3 spots without Med. Just look at Worlds.

My guess is that Sasha will stay for at least the next season an see how things go, she's only just landed two quads at worlds after all, and atm Eteri's the only coach with a lady doing quads. If it goes downhill, she'll probably go somewhere else since her quads do look UR, and I dunno if Eteri can really help her...she seems to work better with skaters that rely on rotational speed and that could change with puberty

If she wants quads, maybe Plush would work. There's also Panova.

Med is probably the most reliable Russian woman skater-she skated pretty clean even with injury. As for the other skaters-well you have Sotskova, Radionova and Alina, right? Of which, 1 isn't that consistent, 1 isn't marked that well and technically could get passed easily, and 1 who might be hitting the puberty bug this season. Who's the safest bet?

Absolutely. Lol, imagine if Sotskova becomes Russia's #1?

I know the situation is completely different but Nanami also didn't know about Yuzuru moving to Canada to train. She didn't say anything negative about him to media and they are still friendly to each other. I am so thankful for his every single coach. Former or current.

Nanami knew. She was the one who suggested Yuzu to train overseas after Worlds 2012, according to Aoi Hono. Yuzu initially didn't want to, he wanted to be trained in Sendai and give back all he could to the town, but he eventually realised he do need a new environment. Yuzu even considered the Russian camps and ultimately settled on TCC with the backing of Japanese Fed.

But I do agree that Yuzuru's coaches, current and former are all really amazing people. Nanami for one, knowing what's best for your student instead of trying to take fame for herself. A lot of high schools I've seen in my home country refuse to send their best students for scholarship applications to prestigious high schools because they wanted to keep them for themselves.

But Orser was kinda hypocritical. He had Stephen doing quads at 12 and Elizabet Tursynbayeva was even practicing quads before she got injured while criticizing Eteri for having Trusova doing quads at 13. So I don't think it's about the well-being of athletes. I know many hanyu fans love him but I know he was wrong with these comments.

I think he not. Lil Bet suffered injury bcs of her quad and Gogolev was never forced to do quads. Borser is never pushed quads if he didn't see that you capable to do it. He said it in his Korean interview abt Jung Hwan. And remember Borser little conflict with Yuzu abt 4L in LGC

Lil Bet mother wrote on Fb that quads are not women jumps and she didn't recommend to do it to anyone after Lil Bet was injured

Also I need to notice that Zhenya is living right behind ice rink of Sambo-70 and even her fans were able contact her mom and gifted Zhenya their fan gold medal right in front of her home. And Eteri couldn't contact her? Like seriously?
