Super late to the party but I stayed up late to watch the entire men's event last night and boy was is exciting!!

So happy for all the great skates of the top men, but really feel for Nathan/Kolyada who made mistakes(hope they redeem themselves in the upcoming FS) and I can't stop replaying Yuzu's Olympic Chopin program! He was in such control of his jumps, skating and the audience, it was beautiful!! Also noticed he got ten 10s in the PCs protocols, highest earned in all the men's PCs 

 

CBC has probably the best commentary for figure skating, so I watched the Canadian broadcast while taking notes of my favourite comments from them. Love Tracy, Kurt and Carol's comments during the event because they were honest, insightful and to the point, especially when Carol said "Watching Yuzuru Hanyu is like the prince in the glass castle, untouchable— and Javi is like 'every man I want to have a beer with'! It's like watching your two favourite movies back to back, totally different but so enjoyable!" 

Another good quote, this time from Kurt while watching the slow-motion SP replays: "Every skater has their own 'spooky/scary' face when they make mid-air while jumping, not a photo you want to put on your Christmas card, but it gets the job done!"  lol

 

It was also adorable (imo) that CBC were calculating how many skaters Patrick's score needs to top over in order to get into the final flight of skaters in the FS, and it happened! I found it funny that every time they complimented Yuzuru, they had to add that 'Patrick has done it too' and gave their own skater a compliment.  I'm quite happy that Yuzuru skates the FS after Patrick because looking back 4 years ago --they were the top two men at Sochi and now with the field changing they still seem like destined rivals (knowing that Yuzu admires Patrick's skating skills, it'll motivate him to do well in the FS right after him).
