Satellite meet up at the Olympics

Right, that's what I mentioned first when I mentioned that the closest station to the plaza is Jinbu. Still, you'd have to take a shuttle or a bus or a taxi to get to the Pyeongchang Olympic Plaza from Jinbu station. It's quite far, from what the map says.

Available tickets now on Korail are from 18.00 or later, in this case it'd be easier to get a taxi to PC Olympic Plaza from the station...

I might buy a ticket now which arrives at 18:29 to Jinbu.

The ceremony at the medal plaza won't be until 7ish PM I think.

The closest station is Jinbu, and from there you can take shuttle bus TS30 I believe. Might be crowded (as always). I'll have to look up local buses to see how to get there. Taxi from Jinbu Station to the Medal Plaza is approx. 15 min and costs around 24,000 KRW (according to Kakao Maps, at least).

If you want to just take shuttle after shuttle it'll be TS26 to the Gangneung Park & Ride, then TS31 to get to Daegwallyeong Mall, then TS30 for the Pyeongchang Olympic Plaza. Idk how problematic this will be, since when I went to the Team Event FS and was about to go find the shuttles to Gangneung Olympic Plaza, I was told by the volunteers that there's about an hour's worth of waiting time since the lines are longggggg.

Thanks! I didn't realise it would be a long way to get to the Medals Plaza. I guess if it comes down to it we could always get standing room tickets on the KTX, esp. since it's just the next stop over from Gangneung.

How do you guys get taxis though? Are they readily available in Gangneung? I've heard about the Kakao app but haven't used it yet myself, since I heard it's in Korean. Do you guys think it will be easy to get a taxi from the station to the Plaza? (I guess a taxi directly from Gangneung station to the Medals Plaza would be quite expensive...?)

Alright. Looks like meet up after Men SP is the consensus. Somewhere in the Concourse. Keep an eye on this thread for suggestion on actual location or we'll end up with a bunch of lost satellites running around with our Pooh paraphernalia.

So far it's:

Me
itiahs
kiches(?)
kaaaaaaat
katonice
yuzuangel
sallycinnamon
vagusjw
PomeloPooh

So excited for the main event. I can't wait to see our space kitty skate in person again!

I tried the kakao T app on my phone (with a foreign number) but the taxi driver canceled on me :13877886:when we tried it using my friend's phone (she lives here and has a local number) it was quite easy to use.

kakao T is not that easy to use, I hardly get a match half the time :13877886: on the busy streets there are usually taxis. at the station there are taxis too. the drivers don't understand english or read english sometimes so make sure you have your addresses in korean.

I can attest to some of them not being able to read English. When we went to a free concert in Wonju and had to grab a taxi immediately after to catch our train, when the taxi driver came he told us he doesn't even know where we want to go lmao. I had to explain that it was Manjong Station. But then again I had another taxi driver be quite good at English AND Japanese, so it really may be varied.

Any satellites at the arena already for mens practice? Hearing and reading there's already a line formed.

Late reply but I'm at the arena! :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:

Me too. Not sure which block I am (since I just ran for it lol) but I'm on the side opposite the judges.

And wow, A seats are great! If only they weren't so expensive and so hard to come by.

I think I'm sitting behind one of the Korean fancam people, also periscoper

Those who are in the practice now, have fun! :smiley-happy085:

I am on my way to Gangneung, I can't believe that I am almost there -  I've been travelling for 26 hours now and I almost fall asleep because I couldn't sleep during my two flights. :13877886:

I wonder if we're on the same KTX getting in at 748

i'm heading there soon...heard yuzu won't go so i'm taking my sweet time

Yeah I don't think he'll show up. It's still nice seeing all the other skaters practice--I got a glimpse of ice dance practice too, since we were let in an hour before men's practice started.
