[2017] Canadian Nats - Men, Pairs, Ice Dance SP & FS

Featured Replies

This pairs competition has been very dull, imho. Bring on the men.

MT/M... program did nothing for me. They could've skated to anything.

I fully admit that I will never really like them, they just look so awkward as a pair and I prefer clean lines and unison like the best Russian pairs of the past, but they do difficult elements, have kept going in the face of adversity...have ignored critics and continued to work hard and succeed... there is much to admire about them. I am proud of them and what they've accomplished. Young teams could look to them to learn how to face down criticism and do what you love no matter what.

Gah, Debbi is so annoying. I remember vividly why I hated her in the 80s.

I just rolled my eyes so hard!

We are, ahem, so lucky she seems to have found her way onto a livestream... soon I can switch back to TSN with Tracy, but  I want the first 2 groups of men so I'm stuck with Debbi...

What did she say ?

they were doing their little chit chat before the event started and Debbi was going on about how Patrick was at the top for years because of his sublime skating skills and effortless acceleration (which is all true, btw), but that the other skaters *knew they couldn't beat him that way* so they had to do all the harder quadruples to beat him. It was just the way she said it, as if challenging themselves and trying harder stuff was solely to beat his skating skills instead of just wanting to improve themselves

Dustin can skate, lovely edges there so a real pity about the jumps. But that was the whole first group in practice too yesterday, the jumps may not be there but they can skate.
