so different from worlds...

Different circumstances, different reaction (and it was such a good performance too, not counting the wobble on the combo that costed him so much...)

I was kinda frustrated because it was a nice performance, but with the mistake the scores didn't reflect that and put him in a difficult position. But then again, I was telling my sister that he would absolutely win if he skated a clean FP. I had faith he could do it, so XD

was it surprising that it wasn't as absolute as you thought

good thing he did though

It did end up being very close and I'm always stressed until it's done, but it happened   I'm still side-eyeing those GOE though. Some people say we're a whiny bunch, but it could've cost him the title ¬¬

what's with the music :space:

It made for a very romantic (?) press-con

Can't believe Nathan and Jason got around the same points for PCS. And he mentioned he scored around the same in components at Nationals as here. That's... hmm...

Anyway, I know, I know, highly subjective. But still...

4CC was where Nathan got his best scoring all season, outside of Nationals, but it was also the first competition where he went in with the momentum of his Nationals performances. The judges, with no Europeans in sight, showered him with the GOEs and PCS because he delivered (not as smoothly as Nationals but still he delivered). He still lost to Yuzu in the FS and would have lost to Shoma hadn't Shoma decided to go '3A, what are those?'.

My only major problem with Nathan's PCS at 4CC was that his average SS score ended up only 0.25 points lower than Patrick Chan's. 0.25. :notamused:

That's the difference between SS that the judges at 4CC thought he had with Patrick, just because he landed stuff and Patrick fell. This to me was the most egregious crime at 4CC. Poor Patrick.

Yes, Nathan's scores did surge during 4CC, starting with low 8's as the season started, to mid/high 8's during this competition (and a sudden 9.0 in SS in the FP!). Probably landing all those quads got the judges so floored they got a bit excited with his marks. Which, ideally, shouldn't be the case, but it happens and it is just for us to hope it doesn't result in over-egregious overmarking in future.

And I'm with you on Patrick. Part of it is probably a show of disappointment for his performance, though 9.25 isn't too bad a score. But probably it was more of over-excitement with Nathan's performance (9.0?!).

Nathan's PCS scores settled back a bit after 4CC, though with an increased average now hovering around the mid to upper 8's, up from before. It's nice to note though that Boyang seems to be closing in on the gap in scores between them. Where he used to get high 7's and low 8's, he's now managing the low to mid-8's as well :)

I think his issues at Worlds may have made Nathan lose a bit of his momentum, as noticed in WTT, but we'll see how he starts off his season and how it progresses and what crazy new things Raf will start hinting that Nathan has hidden under his sleeve.

Rostelecom Cup is going to be EPIC. I think we can really see the judges games there and see how they give scores between Yuzu vs Nathan
