The bar is so low, isn’t it? We are so used to Simon’s trashy commentary that Mark’s selective (but calculative) comments are praise-worthy for us. Mark is blind when the ultimate chosen faves are skating but throws shades at some random ones. He is just part of this systematic corruption, that’s why he is ISU’s commentator anyway.

 

And then people wonder why “some” skaters are consistent. Ofc, when your technical flaws are never called and you are confident about it, not only you easily get undeserving reward for a comfortable flaw but also you will have a big psychological advantage over other competitors too. What a salty morning I have here.

Men's event was a bit all over the place yesterday. I was happy to see Kazuki doing so well, he has nice flow and glide, jumps were great too, he is deservedly 1st.

 

Moris had rough practices but he delivered in the free skate, I was afraid the judges would put him above Kazuki, but they didn't do it. Moris' 4T and 4S look the exact same jump in real time, too, I couldn't see the difference. Maybe the 4S was the solo jump? I haven't checked the protocol.

 

Roman skated well, I like his nice lines and flow, he is a good skater. He is a bit cautious though especially before jumps. 

 

Kolyada has really good carriage, posture, nice edges etc but he is just incosistent when it comes to his jumps.

 

Semenenko was on fire during practices but the performance at the competition was weak. I wonder if he is still a bit injured and/or pressure gets to him because he had a chance to qualify for GPF.

 

I missed Yuzu a lot while I watching the men. 🥺

Well done Keiji. Not perfect, but he did a good job. I like his skating and the music and choreo is entertaining.

Good job Matteo, love his expression. He had so much power in the last choreo stepsequence. Love it!

Camden's non-element jump near the end (or unsuccessful flying entry to the last spin?) was a bit scary. Glad he didn't fall.

Too bad for some unsuccessful landings at the beginning, but he came back nicely and calmly. I still prefer White Crow to this FP, but the music suits his skating.
