ShiroKJ
beki said: I'm surprised not to hear this here first, but I've seen that there is a rumor in a Japanese skating magazine that Shae-Lynn Bourne and David Wilson will both choreograph an LP and then Yuzu will pick one. A choreographer battle. Has it been mentioned in our Japanese-language thread? And because it seemed some were critical of that, these are my thoughts: if the choreographer battle rumor is true (a big if), I wouldn't interpret it as Yuzuru taking advantage of DW and SLB. It's out of the ordinary for choreographers to compete for the attention of a skater (instead of the other way round), but clearly the opportunity to choreograph for the defending Oly champ is one they're willing to fight for. He's giving them both a chance, and I'm sure he can compensate them for their time. Personally, I would give the advantage to Shae, because she knows him better and he developed his artistry with her. But I'm not against Yuzu leaving no stone unturned in his quest for repeat gold. And in my eyes, David has partially redeemed himself for some uninspired programs with Notte Stellata. This sounds...highly doubtful. Someone probably heard the "break-up" rumors and decided to run with the idea, cause drama = Link to comment
Sombreuil
It sounds divisive- not sure it fits with the way TCC appears to operate? Link to comment
beki
Sorry! I feel a little silly now. I just figured any and all rumors belonged here. The grain of truth, I guess, is that DW would like to work with Yuzu more. Link to comment

Yuzu will be so happy to see that new plaque! He was so kuyashi seeing Javier's World Championships plaque superseding his 2014 one. Link to comment

I'm not keen -didn't really like NDP, liked bits of R&J 2 but didn't think it gelled as a whole. One of the few who liked the costume! I like Notte Stellata - I think I like DW when he isn't trying to fit round the requirements of a competition programme. Link to comment

In fairness to David, both NdP and R&J2 were very well choreographed (spacing, timing and variety of elements, levels, transitions, pacing, use of the rink, etc). They were just too ambitious for Yuzu. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not but David did not choreograph to Yuzu's strengths. He instead gave him programs that pushed him to his limits. Yuzu used up all his energy to execute the technical and had nothing left to layer the performance aspect on top of that. Given how Yuzu has grown, that won't be the case now. Personally, though I would prefer Shae, I'd also be excited if he chose David. Link to comment

Sounds more like something a tabloid would invent just to create some drama. (Btw, if tabloids MUST invent drama, this is the sort that props up a skater something fierce, a PR agency would be proud :rofl2: ) Does it say if that those 2 programs would be to the same music? Because if it was, it'd be a rare opportunity to cherry-pick the best ideas of 2 renowed choreographers. If indeed true. Link to comment

Some of the criticism that Yuzu got for Shae's programs is that its too quiet/empty while Davids was too busy and hectic. I can only imagine how a program with a happy medium created by these two would look like. Has that ever happened before? Two individual choreographers working together on one program?
